Re: 2012 Quicken Loans 400 - Sprint Cup Series
Start & Park Brigade This Week
#19 - Mike Bliss
#23 - Scott Riggs
#26 - Josh Wise
#30 - David Stremme
#36 - Dave Blaney
#49 - J.J. Yeley
#74 - Stacy Compton
#87 - Joe Nemechek
#98 - Michael McDowell
Amongst all of these, Inception & Stremme will probably go the furthest before parking, as they seem to last past the first pit stop, but not much more after that. Expect the rest to be in the garage early (amongst those who make it in). The #33 would normally park with Stephen Leicht, but Austin Dillon's running the car under the Childress banner, so expect them to be competitive this weekend.
Non S&P related - The #21 Wood Brothers entry with Trevor Bayne will have to race their way in along with the S&P cars not in the top 35. Not sure if the #32 of Ken Schrader is locked in, but if he isn't, add him to the mix of go or go homers.

I'd like to see Keselowski win at home, but I can't remember him ever being competitive at MIS before.

@MartinTruexJr56: My engineer says just over 3g's pulled on fast lap. Hahaha
@MartinTruexJr56: Minimum speed in the corner is 192!!!
Holy Jesus Christ, they're hitting 218-220 mph at the end of the straightaways. Harvick is fastest in practice at the moment with a 35.821, which is 200.999 mph AVERAGE speed. In race trim.
Epic.

No restrictor plates planned at MIS: NASCAR officials said they have no plan to add restrictor plates used at Daytona and Talladega to reduce speeds. Vice president of competition Robin Pemberton expected speeds to slow on their own as the track rubbers in and the temperature rises. Series director John Darby said NASCAR has a speed at which liftoff is a concern as is the case at Daytona and Talladega, and "we're not there yet."(ESPN)(6-14-2012)

Lot of surprises up front in first practice early on. Most drivers are just cycling their tires. McDowell and Dillon quickest as of now.

5 bucks says if we have a blowover crash, and a car hits catch fencing, people will complain about why NASCAR didn't slow the cars down... the same people that yearn for the days of "unrestricted racing"

Looking at the Qualifying results on NASCAR.com, is Carl Edwards racing tomorrow? It looks that he didn't set a lap time today.

What I hate is these super-hard tires that don't ever blow out or wear, meaning the teams can run tons of camber and not pay the penalty for doing so and the drivers don't have to manage their tires as much (meaning, Tony Stewart would probably run like crap). I wish they'd make everyone run on the Brickyard 400 tires that would blow out if they ran them too hard.
It's actually made this race SIGNIFICANTLY less interesting.
Re: 2012 Quicken Loans 400 - Sprint Cup Series
Cy, I totally agree with you but unfortunately everyone would bitch and whine to Goodyear and have them change the tires anyways.

Agreed, but if it means a better race (especially at my home track), I wouldn't mind anyone crying about the tires!

Well Pirelli seems to have that down to an art (creating a tire that wears like crazy, and yet providing good racing), how about we bring them in!

Sup Logano? How's your confidence after that wreck? And nice ARCA brakes, Kahne. That was really Gilliland's fault for starting that whole mess though.
