Cars hitting almost 228 mph, and the fact that we've serious injuries in the Indy 500 in the last few years, like Mike Conway and Vitor Meira, just doesn't feel very comforting, even with this new car.

Plus a little flame that had to be put out.

Mike Conway almost have the same amount of luck that the Andrettis have at IMS. Damn that was scary. Good to see both drivers walk away.

If that car had launched six inches higher it would have been so much like Wheldon's wreck. Very scary.

Surprised no one mentioned Castroneves. He would have been a dead man, had that wheel travelled in a slightly different way.

Speaking of Andretti luck, what lap is Marco going out on? And Kanaan for that matter. It seems to have rubbed off on him too

Maybe not Conway or Power, but definitely Castroneves. Same situation with Senna, Massa and Henry Surtees, 2 of which died, 1 of which suffered severe head injury.

No I'm not. I was getting ready to see that car disintegrate from the top down due to the catch fence, or the car going across the wall in such a way that would of hit his head.
I'm very glad to see that the outcome of the wreck wasn't the case

Not to mention that wheel that almost smashed Castroneves's head. I think we know all too well from Henry Surtees what that can do.

That was more after the fact watching the replays, but Castroneves was incredibly lucky with that as well

Re: 96th Indianapolis 500
wow, Franchitti is up to 2nd after that pit road incident he had earlier. Good recovery from him.
Re: 96th Indianapolis 500
I think the Ganassi boys may have it in the bag unless this strategy they're on blows up in their face.

Okay. I know this is off topic from the race but did I just notice Jamie Little has a baby bump while reporting what a gas man has to wear? Am I the only one finding out just now? Anyway, Ganassi have been putting up a decent fight as of late.

Jamie announced her pregnancy about a month ago via twitter.
Re: 96th Indianapolis 500
I figured it was already announced considering how big of a bump it was, just happened to not pay attention. How epic would it be to hear the Japanese commentary with Sato winning the Indy 500, or Sato pulling a J.R. Hildebrand on the last turn of the last lap of this race?
Man, Marco screwed himself for pitting early.
