Go away, Sauter. Give that seat to someone who could actually hack it in Cup.

My thoughts exactly. Despite being annoyed of his raging for the last couple of weeks, it sucks that he has to go through this.

Since Kyle Busch won in the Truck race last night, a friendly reminder that this would the third anniversary of the Texas weekend where he intentionally wrecked Ron Hornaday who was actually contending for the Truck championship on Lap 14. And then got parked for the rest of that race weekend.

On top of an overall boring race, all six yellows this race have been for debris.
Besides the cautions that were for cars that hit the wall and were dropping debris, I can't tell if NASCAR is trying to make artificial excitement, or the fans at the track are just as bored by this race as we are and throwing shit onto the track.

I can't believe I'd agree with something Kyle Busch said: "This kind of stuff just makes this Chase look stupider and stupider."
That sucks for Gordon. I didn't see what happened, but it looks like his title hopes depend on Phoenix. Good win, Jimmie.

It's made NASCAR even more of a farce. This is stupid.
This isn't even racing any more. It's artificial excitement that's getting these drivers hurt and making them looks like IDIOTS.

This season is a joke, the most anonymous driver on 2014 (Ryan Newman) has a shot at being the champion, winless I might add, and this system was supposed to focus on victories.

This. I haven't watched any of the race today, but having heard from a bunch of people talking about the race, it amazes me that NASCAR has come to this. Seriously, just get rid of the chase format already.

THIS. BIG TIME.
Well, this race was boring for the first half of the show, which is to be expected for Texas, and then, 11 cautions in the second half? Really?
Things did get interesting near the end with all of the failure, but then it got really stupid with the GWCs, and of course, topped off with Borebox sneaking in for a win. Thankfully, he's already out of the Chase, so it doesn't really matter.
The low point of the night, in my opinion, was the massive brawl on pit road between Gordon, Kez, and their respective crews. Of course, Kevin Harvick acted like a toolbox himself when he shoved Kez from behind, which was a pretty chickenshit thing to do himself. Â
My God, what a train wreck.
This is just one of the things I was afraid of when this format was announced. It's causing all of this unneeded tension. Yes, having emotion is a good thing, but you've got to draw the line somewhere, and it has been crossed big time. They've gone way over the line this time, and sooner or later, someone's gonna get seriously hurt from this. Brian France, this is your mess. Clean it up, or it's your head.
The AAA 500 @ Texas gets a resounding 0/10 for a boring first half, a yellow happy second half, and all of the BS that happened on the GWCs and after the race. Fuck this shit. This is not why I watch racing. The Cup Series has dramatically improved on the quality of the racing this year over the previous couple of seasons, but this was definitely the low point of the season tonight.

If they wanted to make wins matter more, the obvious solution is to cut the crap with this dumb Chase format and jack up the number of points you get for winning. I wanted to see Jeff Gordon or Matt Kenseth win the title from where it stood before today, but now it's not even worth it. Of course NASCAR's not going to do shit about the format because the only "fans" Brian France is appeasing are the voices in his head.
I haven't seen what happened on that restart, so I don't really have an opinion on what the deal was with Keselowski and Gordon. But I still have to feel for Gordon. To have the race practically bagged with what, five laps to go? And then to have, well, EVERYTHING happen, it just sucks. Honestly, I'm hesitant to throw any support behind him because I'd get called a "retarded Gordon fan" or something of the like, but all things considered...
The race was really bland until those last laps. Then it just got completely retarded.

Re: Nascar Texas
TBH, Gordon shares a lot of the blame; electing to start on the outside, leaving a hole big enough for Brad to jump in. But, yeah, this Chase format is becoming more and more of a joke week in and week out. And this stuff of trying to fight after every race is getting really old and embarrassing.

Jenna Fryer @JennaFryer
I feel if the roles were reversed, Gordon would have tried to fill that hole, too. Difference is, too much animosity right now against Kez.
Jenna has a point.. Sadly 1/2 of Gordon fans would want Kes to be kicked out. Thankfully, some Gordon fans have a brain (like everyone here ) Gordon has a right to be mad, but Harvick had no buisness to start and leave after it started....

One of the few things I retained from High School English: The Best Shakespearean Comedies are the Tragedies.
The Tragedy: The way NASCAR is self-imploding while the racing is the best it's been in a long time.
The Comedy: Everything NASCAR thinks improves the show but is groan-worthy if you aren't a casual. (All the fighting for starters)
And for moments like this, and when F1 and WWE are slowly bleeding out. I like to watch the first Minute and Ten seconds of this Regular Car Review, because it sums up too well why these cultural fixtures are falling by the wayside. Just give this chase race to COTA.

I think Leckliter's talking about Kes' post race interview in the media centre. It was filled with contradictions, and he was still trying to keep up his "holier than thou" attitude when it's clearly doing him no good.NeverNeutral wrote:Kes did nothing wrong. But I agree with Packer, Gordon and Harvick didn't act any better.

Yeah, I think we can all agree on one thing:
This was just one giant clusterfuck that really didn't need to happen, and IMO, it's put a huge black eye on the face of NASCAR.

I kinda agree with Packer on this. All Kez was trying to do is win and all these drivers are against him because he races hard? It's his job, and if that's the case, then driving hard is a penalty. These drivers need to grow up.
About this Chase so far, I stand corrected when I said it was gonna be good. At this point, NASCAR should be ashamed of themselves for putting up this joke of a format.

I'm not annoyed with what Kes did on the track, or the fact he got confronted.
I'm annoyed that he's still keeping up this "bad guy" persona which is CLEARLY pisses off drivers and fans alike. In his interview in the press room after the race, he said he doesn't believe in intentionally wrecking people... just a couple of weeks after he was trying to take out Denny Hamlin at Charlotte... Quite honestly, it makes him look fake.
Overall, NASCAR are the laughing stock in all of this, however.

Nascar is looking less like more a motorsport and more like an automotive circus. Tonight was pretty shameful.
Race was boring for the first 260ish laps and then heated up in the last 80.
If i were to judge who would win the title after today's race i'd honestly say and no joke on this Ryan Newman.

It's not that, it just seems that his championship went to his head and he has a ego as a result. It's also like Ben said, he's keeping up the persona of him being a bad guy and nobody likes it and like Ben I don't care about the way he drives or how he got confronted.PackerMan71 wrote:navycook75 wrote:This is why I'm starting to not be a Kes fan.
