Re: Touring Car Thread
So does that mean something BTCC related is on ITV4 tonight at 8? Or just Internet?

Think it's probably a live stream from BTCC's YouTube Channel. Not too sure though.
Re: Touring Car Thread
I've seen some speculation that it's got something to do with either the supposed new Kia BTCC team or to do with Jason Plato.

Re: Touring Car Thread
I heard the Kia team was utter garbage, especially looking through their Twitter account which was full of spelling and grammar errors. Besides, I don't think it would be a driver/team announcement of the BTCC are announcing it. Maybe Macau?

Saw a Tweet from Plato earlier this afternoon...looking more likely he'll be without a ride in 2015.
Edit: Here it is:

Only thing about this is that it leaves Alain Menu out of a ride. I hope he ends up somewhere decent, along with Giovonardi and Mat Jackson.

I'm hoping Fabrizio ends up in the remaining Triple8 car, even though he probably doesn't deserve it.

As long as it's not Marc Hynes then I'm ok with it, because he didn't do anything notable from what I saw of him last year.

Apart from Warren Scott though. Would be a much better line-up if they kept Alain Menu on the team instead.

Well Warren owns the team (I think he does at least), so that's a given really.

Well regardless I'm quite dissapointed that Menu doesn't have a ride yet. I think it would be awesome if he became Andrew Jordan's teammate in the MG but I doubt that will happen. If anything that seat will probably go to Marc Hynes who sucked last year in my opinion, or a young upcoming driver.

But a good one as well imo. Goff has shown flashes of brilliance in his past 2 years in the BTCC, so as long as he can do what the car is capable of doing then I won't be surprised to see him win a race or more this year.

Personally I'd rush to get Menu or Giovanardi's signature before Jack Goff, but you're right, it is a good choice.BWardboy88 wrote:Ben Atkins wrote:... interesting choice.BWardboy88 wrote:http://www.btcc.net/2015/02/25/jack-goff-completes-exciting-triple-eight-racing-btcc-2015-line-up/

Personally I was expecting Giovanardi considering past history with 888, but after both Menu and Giovanardi's season last year I would have taken Goff over them (even as a massive Fabrizio fan).

So one of the reasons Macau was dropped from the WTCC was TV timings? Ughhh, always my favourite race of the year in ANY series, and not once did I wake up at 5am to watch it live but I still watched the repeat later in the day, every year. What difference does it make? My feelings are not improved after they dropped Monza as the season opener last year in favour of Marrakech..

Not BTCC, but somewhat related anyway. 27 year-old Freddie Hunt, son of 1976 F1 Champion James Hunt, will race in the Renault Clio Cup UK Championship this year.

Judging by their performance related to Stewart Lines (a pay driver if ever there was one), I'd say the Infiniti car may not actually be half bad. Of course, the horrendous joke they call a driver lineup doesn't do it any favours - especially when Palmer thought it was a great idea getting in the way of the leaders on the last lap of race 2.

Re: Touring Car Thread
Should do what the V8 Utes here do. Race 1 winner has to pick a draw for how many cars get reversed for race 2 between 12 and 20. So regardless of what they pick they're still mid pack.

Martin Donnelly hasn't raced in anything beyond club racing since his Jerez crash in 1990. I'm not gonna hold my breath here.

He's been competing in various forms of Lotus club racing, but I do believe he did drive a Lotus in some rounds of the BPR series in the mid 90s, a long time ago and obviously anywhere near the same level as he was during F3000, but rather have him than Hawken any day.

Re: Touring Car Thread
Well, yes. Of course, since Infiniti apparently have to be jackasses with everything they do, it seems that they forgot to tell Hawken he was being replaced. He posted the following on Facebook:
What a scummy team.
Richard Hawken wrote:I was shocked and surprised to learn from a fan on Facebook earlier that I am being replaced as a driver for the remainder of the 2015 BTCC season. Having been made aware of rumours earlier this week, they were vehemently denied by the team, yet here we are with a change of driver.
To say I am disappointed and disillusioned by the unprofessional, dishonourable manner in which this has been handled, is an understatement. For those who know me, you'll be aware of how much time and effort I dedicated to building this. The next one however will be bigger and better!
I have been advised to make no further comments on the situation at this stage.
What a scummy team.

I think the category is for 14-17 year olds, so she is still the youngest possible age within the category. Bearing in mind that a lot of the other front runners are in their second season too.

Re: Touring Car Thread
I was at Oulton Park today for the BTCC race. MUCH better than last year, and possibly some of the best races of the year so far IMO. Clios were incredible today!
There was a photo finish in race 2 between Plato and Shedden. Plato ended up winning that to follow up his convincing race 1 victory.
Stewart Lines had a HUGE crash in race 1 where Alex Martin shoved him into the end of the pit wall. Lines was okay and got his car repaired in time to race 2 and 3 as well.
Formula Ford had a guy go airbourne in the Island bend. Again, he was alright.
Sam Tordoff won a fairly calm race 3. Rob Austin drove like a complete dick in that race, but karma bit him in the ass pretty hard.
Porsches was awesome. 28 cars and always a close fight for the lead between Dan Cammish and Michael Meadows. The latter of the two took victory.
I met quite a few drivers over the weekend. I talked to and had a picture with Aron Smith, got signed stuff from Andy Priaulx, Sam Tordoff, Simon Belcher, Mike Bushell, Jack Goff and Derek Palmer. I almost met Andrew Jordan too, but he got called away as I was about to talk to him.
