Re: (LDS) Races 13-16
- MSM @ Quincy, Road America and IRP:
- Alexa Lake quickly shows that she still has skill in racing as she claims two podiums in what would be three top tens.
Alexa Lake, coming into Quincy, what she thought would be attrition filled said "I have had several good finishes this year in my fairly limited starts as well as some....bad ones.
I do want to try my best here at Quincy and stay out of trouble as best I can and bring home a win or a podium if I can."
Her inkling would come true as she would qualify fifth(?) and then immediately start to fight her way to the lead, in which she would lead her first(?) few laps. She would stay out front until the big one struck the paddock.
The third caution of the day would come out when Alexa Lake would be leading pursued by Brandon Chrasta among others. She would brush the wall and then be clipped by the #71 and all hell would break lose collecting twenty or more cars. A lot of which would fall out of the race. Luckily for Lake, she only got minor side damage and could continue to be fast.
She would try and fight with Chuck Johnson, but would end up coming home second with a battered racecar. Still, it could have been worse. Alexa Lake claims her best finish of the season with a second place.
Road America would also prove to be an attrition filled race. Once again, Alexa Lake would qualify well with a seventh place grid spot and would start to make a charge through the field.
Although her race was much cleaner than Quincy, her car was not as fast; Alexa Lake would end up relying on attrition and sheer skill to weasel her way into her second podium in a row finishing third.
Her teammate, Wes Maret, the now 55 year old short track ringer would also finish well in a slow car. He would finish 17th in his third(?) start.
"My car might be slow, but I've had 35 years of experience with short track racing to know how I can handle a car and make her do things you wouldn't expect her to be able to do. Even if I am on the longest road course of this schedule, I kept her cooled and managed to muster up a seventeenth place."
"I want to thank Alexa Lake and co for entrusting me with this machinery. I do feel like I am doing better than certain others were doing in this season in this very same car. Even though it may be slow, I can still pull some decent results as I have done. Thank you much, Alexa."
Alexa Lake coming into IRP stated in a press release "Our silly season has been somewhat finalized and now I am here to finish out this season as strong as I can.
I have come off of two podiums and am looking for my third. Hopefully, the Gods of racing will look down on me with favour and not blow my engine to bits!"
Qualifying tenth, Alexa Lake would have some work ahead of her if she wanted to continue her streak of podiums.
Right off the bat, it was noted that Alexa Lake had an ill-handling car. Manageable, but not ideal. She'd have to work with this machinery to get up into the top ten. Slowly but surely, she steadily made progress through the field and would come home seventh with another great finish to tie out her week.
"I am very pleased with my results these last three weekends. I would not have expected to finish so well, but I am proud to have been able too. I have to thank Binco for sponsoring us as they're still my favourite clothing company today as well as my spirited team and crew. Thank you for a continually great season!"
"I will see you eventually as I have completely forgotten where I am assigned to go next...so...see you next time, guys!"

Voyles speechless after top 15 finish in Quincy
Last time we saw American Racing in action they ended up loading the car after failing to qualify for Mosport. This time however a complete different story coming into Quincy, and after making the race in which they start last got involved in the 23 car crash Daniel Voyles shock everyone with a 13th place finish. “I want to thank my team on a solid weekend we had today for my birthday” he said after climbing out of the wounded 181 car. “For a team like ours to make this race and get a top 15 after starting last is a huge win and we hope to carry that momentum going to our next attempt race at Oswego.” The team will be hoping a sponsor will come sooner than later before Oswego but for now they will have a lot of work to do once they get back to the shop.

Re: (LDS) Races 13-16
- Ruiz @ Road America:
- Timothy Ruiz crashed out at Road America after a, what he called, stupid rookie move. Timothy Ruiz was none to happy with his wreck, calling his performance as "humiliating and face palm worthy". Xavier didn't even comment on the wreck, saying "the wreck speak for itself". This isn't a good start for T. Ruiz's "long march". We will see T. Ruiz at IRP next week.
- Ruiz @ IRP:
- Whatever happened at Road America must have knocked something into place as Ruiz came home in 10th. It's getting to the point where if T. Ruiz doesn't wreck, he drives very well. He has shown some promise and Polito's spokeperson said "We made the right call of sponsoring T. Ruiz." Ruiz was a bit elated but stated that he want another top 5. Ruiz has 2 top 5, one of which is at a track we shall not name. Xavier was on Vacation at this time so we couldn't reach him. T. Ruiz and X. Ruiz are set to run at Milwaukee and see how both will do...if Xavier qualifies
- Ruiz Bros. @ Milwaukee:
- Before we get started, reports are flooding in that both Ruiz's are set to run next season. We do not have full conformation from either party, but they have a high likelihood of returning for another year. With that said, Xavier failed to qualified for Milwaukee. Xavier won't return till race 22, the race AFTER Timothy's final race before Rockford. With that said, Timothy showed tons of promise by charging from mid pack to finish in 2nd, his career best. Considering he ran on a limited schedule, he shows that he might have the capability of running for wins if his pace keeps up. He held nothing back and ran hard and led several laps. Ryan Ruiz, Timothy and Xavier's father, would state that he was proud of Timothy's performance tonight. We'll see if Timothy can get a win before the season ends. Xavier...well, let's just hope he doesn't become much of a headcase.

- Dynasty Motorsports @ Milwaukee:
- Dynasty Motorsports Back for Milwaukee
While it wasn't as special as his runner-up showing at Elko earlier this year, Silas White should have nothing to complain about. The rookie driver again managed to finish well within the top half of the field, coming home in 13th.
Still without a major source of funding, the small family operation out of Wisconsin is making the most of the equipment it has. By staying out of trouble on Sunday, White was able to capitalize on the mechanical issues that plagued several drivers during the race, resulting in a better finish than the team was anticipating.
The team is skipping the race at the Illinois State Fairgrounds, but will be back in a few weeks to attempt the Erraticab 100 at Chicago Motor Speedway.

- Hicks and Briscoe Racing Finishes a Wild Mid-Season Stretch:
Aaron Collteir, driver of the #113 Benito's Burritos Lenard, and team principals Carl Hicks and Bill Briscoe sat down with the media after race 16 at Milwaukee, where Collteir had come home in 18th place.
"Honestly, that Grand Detour race, it just felt like a win", said the Maine driver, reflecting on an incredible 3rd place run at a track known for spectacular accidents. "We got hit a couple of times, but nothing major and this crew got me back into the race fast enough to finish 3rd.
Road America, yeah, that was kind of disappointing. We had an OK Q run considering I have zero experience on a road course, but unfortunately I blew the gearbox downshifting early on. IRP was kind of a struggle too, but we didn't get wrecked out, and Milwaukee was just kind of a quiet race, and knowing where this series is, sometimes a quiet race is all you can ask for."
Notes:
- Bill Briscoe on the team's 2018 plans: "I think we've got a lot locked down, but we still need to negotiate some things. Benito's (Burritos) has been a loyal partner of ours, but we may need someone else to come on board if we want to step up our operations."
- Charles Hicks on the team's Rockford entry: "Natalie (Schrodinger) is a fantastic driver, a champion up at La Crosse Speedway, and we're thrilled to have her aboard." But... "A two car team next year is certainly on the table. Anything's on the table, really. I mean, the series could go back to--- wait, what was I saying again?" "I mean, yeah, it's possible but we need to work that out."
