NASCAR at Kentucky
This race doesn't even deserve it's own recap
Cup, Xfinity and Trucks run this weekend. Trucks is a interesting thing, cause both practices have been cancelled. SO has all testing/practice this whole week. So the teams (trucks) will get a comp yellow and extra tires. (By paying them lol) Last time a series ran without practice/q was in 1998 at Richmond. That will be fun.

Again...someone ended up in the catch fence! I'm glad to see Ben Kennedy was able to walk away from the wreck.
They just called the race. Matt Crafton wins. Would've liked to see Erik Jones go for 2 in a row.

Race officially called because of the fencing being too long to repair.
Glad Ben's alright.
Matt Crafton declared the winner.

What about the time everyone questioned whether this picture is photoshopped or not?

Congrats! You are one of today's Lucky 10,000!
Re: NASCAR at Kentucky
2013 was the only good Kentucky race. For some reason the fact that it ran during made it a lot better than all 3 night races.
Re: NASCAR at Kentucky
I guess the only thing interesting about this race will be the new package.

Every good race the Gen 6 has had (with one exception and even then it was only cause of lols) have been rain delayed races. More Grip = Better racing I guess.

Re: NASCAR at Kentucky
Qualifying has been rained out for both Xfinity and Cup. The field will be set on practice times, meaning Kyle Larson will start on the pole for Cup, and JJ YELEY will start on the pole for Xfinity in an unsponsored car.
Cup DNQs: #21 Ryan Blaney, #30 Travis Kvapil, #95 Michael McDowell

That Xfinity finish was actually decent. Haven't watched much of that series this year but still that was a good enough race. Good win Keselowski, even though I was pulling for Erik Jones.

The NASCAR/Sharknado 3 combo ad might be the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.

Given it was Kentucky, I think this race went about as well as we could've hoped.

Re: NASCAR at Kentucky
My review of the Quaker State 400 @ Kentucky:
Hm. Not bad.
Helluva start to the race, with guys going four wide off of turn 2 on the first lap. The beginning saw some good side-by-side racing, although we still have the problem of the leader being able to just pull away without much of a challenge. After fifteen laps, Brad K. already had a 3 ½ second lead, so that part was a bit concerning early on.
One thing I noticed was that the restarts were crazy. Guys went four wide on a couple of occasions on the restarts.
Seemed like the backmarkers caused a majority of the cautions in this race.
The battle between Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards and Brad K. for the lead around Lap 150 was pretty cool.
Once again, there were way too many cautions in this race. Eleven cautions for a 400 mile race is a bit too much, in my opinion, especially when it breaks the track record.
On that note, there is a little something I need to get off my chest.
Rant mode engaged.
F**k Danica Patrick. Her attitude on the track has finally reached the point where I just can’t stand her anymore. It had been building for a while now, but this race was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Jr. even admitted fault for the accident because of the crappy brakes that he had been dealing with all night, but as usual, Danica had to bitch and whine and moan just like she always seems to do every time someone runs into her. It’s always someone else’s fault and she never accepts blame for anything, and she’s always retaliatory, regardless of the situation. It’s getting pretty ridiculous at this point.
And for her to have the unmitigated gall to tell Jr. to “Go f**k yourself’ after he ran into her with 60 laps to go, to me, is indefensible. He had been having brake trouble all night, but she decided to be a bitch about it and even ran into Jr. on pit road. And does she even recall that Jr. was the one that gave Danica her first big shot in NASCAR? And she does THAT to him? What a f**king idiot.
I’ve been a supporter of Danica since that big win at Motegi seven years ago, but from this point forward, I’m done with Danica Patrick. I’m done supporting her, and as far as I’m concerned, I couldn’t care less what happens to her career after this season. With GoDaddy leaving, she’s not gonna have that sponsorship money, and I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if she wasn’t in Cup next year. She’s in a top-tier ride in Stewart-Haas Racing, and yet she’s constantly running at the back. She’s had good runs this year, but they’ve been few and far between.
Bottom line, I think she should fix her attitude and her driving skills pronto, or this season may be the last we see of her in Sprint Cup, and quite frankly, I couldn’t care less anymore.
Rant mode disengaged.
Meanwhile, that restart with 55 laps to go was probably the wildest restart of the night, with three Gibbs cars going three wide for the lead: Hamlin, Edwards and Busch. Logano also became a factor late in the race, as well as Brad Keselowski.
Tough break for Kyle Larson, who had to pit with 51 to go for a tire rub after starting on the pole. And he brought out the record-breaking eleventh caution when he cut down a left rear tire.
The finish saw Kyle Busch give chase on Joey Logano during the final 40 laps of the race, and the battle between the two was on with 22 laps to go. And Busch makes the pass for the lead with 19 laps to go and that was all she wrote from that point forward. Good win for Kyle, who gets his 2nd win in the last three races and closes to within 81 points of 30th with 9 races to go to the Chase. He led 163 of the 267 laps in the race, so quite the dominating performance.
My final rating for the Quaker State 400 @ Kentucky:
Overall, the race was actually not bad for once. I think this race package needs a bit more tweaking, but it’s a step in the right direction. This was easily the best race we’ve seen at Kentucky, which isn’t saying much considering how crappy the racing here has been, but I digress. This race gets a 5.75/10.
Next week, we head to New Hampshire.

To be fair, when Jr's been having that issue all night, does he really have to put himself in that kind of position? What does he have to gain?

I'm going to call something right here and now, come Richmond, she's going to be caught cheating to get into the chase, and she will get Tony Stewart, not her, in trouble, because it won't be her fault,

Texas 2013
Texas this year
Kentucky last year
And that's just 3 that come to mind.
Hell I'll go so far as to say that that might have been the best 1.5 mile race this year. *Gets shield ready for incoming tomatoes.*

Actually, I agree with you on that point, and it was at Kentucky of all places.
Of course, I shudder to think what kind of race this would've been if we had been using the original 2015 package.

Yeah, in my eyes not even Talladega could make a good race, so god help that alternate dimension that the package wasn't changed.
