- Delgado Hampered by Late Wreck, Falls to 14th
After all the bravado this offseason about how the 2015 FARC Elite Series championship was coming back to Tom Delgado Racing, the TDR army was left scratching their collective heads with what could have been after today's Smash Beer 200. Despite all three cars coming home in the top 20, with Cyrus LaTerza leading the way in 7th, team owner Tom Delgado, who incidentally came home 14th after getting tangled up in a late incident, will be wondering how he didn't finish higher.
"We battled hard all day, that's all I can ask from my teams. This Defender Lenard was really fast, and we were able to find our way to the front for a few laps, and I was very confident that we could get back to the front at the end. Unfortunately the 590 had other ideas and held us up a little bit. As for the incident with the 41, I saw a hole and this late in the race, you have to start making a move. It's nobody's fault, just a racing deal. Unfortunate though as it damaged us just enough to keep us away from the main pack" Delgado said, lamenting the incident with Zack Webster that damaged his car just enough to make it a non-factor late.

Evan Goodman's day ends early, resulting in 33rd place finish
"We had great cars all weekend and for whatever today it wasn't here. Then a mechanical issue takes us out. But hey it's just the beginning of the season and I was happy to be able to make this race where so many didn't." - Evan Goodman

Re: (Elite Series) Race 1 - Smash Beer 200
- Spoiler:
- Webster Starts Season Hot, Top 10 in Smash Beer 200
Webster rolled off to start the 2015 season in 6th for the Smash Beer 200, a race Webster had to be replaced into at the expense of a teammate. Long story short Webster ran up front most of the day, avoided several wrecks, started a few wrecks, led laps, and came home 10th.
Webster was extremely pleased with his run after the race while meeting with the media. Webster does; however, feel like some performance was left out on the table when the checkered flag flew.
"Before I say anything, I want to apologize to Makoto Yamada. I don't have an excuse or explanation for that one. Hard racing at the end can sometimes end in ways you don't want them to, and I'm certainly not proud of that," Webster began his comments on the race.
"Car was amazing all day long. I really wish we could have won that race so we could put this car in a museum and never have to bring it out again. That was probably the best car I've driven in my FARC career. It's one of those cars you want to run again, but you really don't want to see it get torn up."
"We started off those opening two runs just on rails. I could take the car anywhere I wanted it to go and we were just able to get back to the front as quickly as we were shuffled back. Right around halfway the car wasn't as good. We had gotten shuffled out of the lead pack and we were just kind of riding around there waiting for a caution. When it finally came out, the crew chief made a great call by keeping us out there and giving us some clean air. Car came right back to life on that run, and it was great all the way to the finish."
"There was certainly something protecting this car today. We had about nine or ten chances to just destroy this car in a wreck, but we somehow avoided most all of them. Not sure what happened there with I think it was the 86. A lot of these incidents we were collected in or almost collected in really were nothing more than a product of hard racing. We were fortunate not to tear the car up to the point where we couldn't compete, and we just brought the car home with a great top 10 finish."
Webster finished his comments with this:
"Words can't express how excited I am about the start of this season. I was very impressed with how well we performed today. We ended last season really looking to improve on several areas in the off-season. Once we got back to the shop, we went back to the drawing board and worked on improving--and I think it really showed today. We were running around past champions Rip Tyler and Ryan Matthews. That says a lot for this 41 team after the season we had in 2014. We'll look to build on this and just take it to the next race."
Webster left Texas World 10th in points, the highest of his career.

- Spoiler:
Matthews' day ends early, just like last season
Forgive Ryan Matthews for his feelings of deja vu.
In 2014, his season started with an early exit at Texas World Speedway. New season, same result, as a Lap 25 wreck involving Kelly Posadas and Libby Bell meant he'd have plenty of time to watch fiancee Carter Fitzgerald eventually finish fifth.
"I hate this place," Matthews said with a grin after leaving the care center. "Two seasons we've come here and two seasons I'm watching the finish instead of being part of it. It just sucks to be in a big points hole after one race, especially now these Texas races are double-points. But we'll get right. We're too good a team to stay down for long."

Makoto Yamada Starts Year with Hard Crash
After an up and down day at the Smash Beer 200, Makoto Yamada ended his run with a torn up racecar. In the closing stretch of the race, Zach Webster made contact with Yamada and sparked a large wreck. Yamada was running in 7th, the highest he'd been all day, at the time of the wreck. While initially angered by unfortunate turn of events, Webster's apology for the incident slightly relieved that anger. Yamada said, "I'm still mad I got wrecked, but Webster apologized and gave an explanation for the incident, which many drivers don't do. So, I don't have much against Zach for the wreck today. On to the next one." Yamada finished 31st on the day.

- Jay Rivers Exits Smash Beer 200 As The Best Performing Rookie
Blue Jay Racing sure put up quite an impressive effort getting a 17th after avoiding pretty much every big accident throughout the event. 2015 is off to a fantastic start for BJR.
"I'm grateful, as best as I can say it, I'm grateful for the luck the racing gods gave me and my team today. We knew after our performence in the qualifiers, that we were capable of getting a Top 20 finish, and we did so today. Hopefully we can do this well at my other scheduled races this season!"

Re: (Elite Series) Race 1 - Smash Beer 200
Rip Tyler Wins Smash Beer 200 In Thrilling Fashion!
Tyler Would Not Be Denied
Despite the best efforts of several competitors to stop him, Rip Tyler managed to pull off a daring last lap pass to win the first race of the 2015 FARC season. Well, "last lap" is a bit of an overstatement. It was more of a "last turn" pass to be a bit more precise. The #8 car of Lucas Sweeney pushed up the track entering the tri-oval and that was just the opening Tyler needed.
"It feels good! Real good!" Tyler exclaimed. "We battled all day. We battled everything-- the other cars, our own car, mechanical issues-- everything. But we kept fighting and good things happen when you do that."
Things were looking bright pre-race for the #16 team as Tyler won his B-Main 1 qualifier putting him on the inside of row 2. Then outside pole sitter Riley Durbin was injured in the new FARC Duckroll Super Series inaugural race and was not medically cleared for the Smash Beer 200. The team was forced to make a driver swap which sent the #38 car to the rear of the field. Thus, Tyler inherited Durbin's slot on the grid-- directly in front of SPI teammate Reid Bullet. From there, things seemed to go downhill for the 2012 series champion.
In the opening stages, a small fracas between the #03 of rookie Rick Head, reigning champion Ryan Matthews in the #61, and the #17 car of veteran Cyrus LaTerza. Tyler managed to avoid this incident with little damage to the nose of his #16 Leapin' Lizard Lycoia Infiltrator. Before that, during the first caution, the #2 car of Jason Bates appeared to get into the back of Tyler and the #16 car veered sharply down onto the apron. It's unknown if the minor contact incurred contributed to Tyler's car having a tire go down shortly thereafter.
Throughout the day, Tyler dropped back to the middle of the pack several times because of other skirmishes with slow or lapped cars only to fight his way back up to the front of the field. Most seemed to involve the #41 car of Zack Webster and the #8 of Lucas Sweeney in some form or other. Once Rick Head became an non-factor, Webster seemed to take up his mantle as aggressor which caused the OEN announcing team to say Webster "wasn't afraid to get his bumper dirty." Being the third driver at Power Steering Incorporated in 2014, it's possible Webster may have learned a thing or two from Kurt Plissken, but that is purely speculation on our part.
"There was several white knuckle moments out there today for sure," Tyler stated. Midway through the race Tyler avoided calamity when he split in between teammate Reid Bullet and Cyrus LaTerza. Rip Tyler recovered again and again from his several close calls to fight his way back up front. LaTerza would resurface later in what could be the defining moment of the race.
With 20 laps remaining, Tyler made his final pit stop and was first in and back out.
"Can't say enough about our crew!" Tyler beamed. "They made the right calls at the right times all day. They kept me up front and without them, we wouldn't be in victory lane right now."
It didn't look like it nearing the end of the race though. Once again contact with Cyrus LaTerza threatened to end Tyler's day. With less than 10 laps remaining, LaTerza tried to squeeze in between the #19 car of Allie Riggs and Zack Webster. Tyler went into the wall causing some damage to the right side of #16 car. But Rip Tyler would not be denied.
"Rip has an indomitable spirit," Reid Bullet commented. "He won't ever quit or give up."
"I'd like to give a shout out to Reid Bullet!" yelled Tyler trying to be heard above the victory celebration noise. "That guy is a true white hat. He helped me all day long. He drove the wheels off that #12 Loan Ranger car today. In fact, if he hadn't gotten hung up by slow and lapped cars several times today, he may have very well run away with this race and been here in victory lane instead of me!"
"That guy is as unselfish as they come." Tyler then turned and said, "I never got a chance to properly thank him." But once again, Bullet, known as the Masked Man" had disappeared into the crowd.
Jason Bates finished second -0.11 behind Tyler with Bullet in third just a scant -0.14 behind the victorious Tyler. By nabbing the final podium slot, Bullet ensured the SPI team a 1-3 finish for the day's festivities.
With the victory, Rip Tyler scored an impressive 208 points whilst Bullet notched 162 in his belt.
SPI teammate Libby Bell had a tire go down on lap 20 and was wrecked out of the race shortly thereafter.
