It says he hit with the right side of the car, but in the picture the car looks almost undamaged, with the exception of the front wing being gone. Kind of weird to get a concussion from a crash that does that little damage to the car

Apparently he post conciousness while driving, this according to Vettel that was right behind Alonso. He just veered to the left and crashed.

There isn't a person in this world that deserves this position less than her:

Didn't know who she was, looked up her GP3 Results from the past 3 years, only 1 Top-15 finish by her in Valencia in 2012. I don't know what Lotus see in her but whatever.

In a career of 9 years, with the exception of 5 she scored in the secondary class of Spanish F3, she has never even scored a podium!

The rest of their development programme is very strong though, two of the best kart drivers of recent times in Alex Albon and Dorian Bocolacci, as well as easily the best driver in junior single seaters with Esteban Ocon. Yet they have made a series of errors in finding Ocon a seat for 2015, turned down DTM and failed to secure DAMS in GP2..

So that's 18 on the grid when the lights go out, not unless Force India has gotten the funding taken care of to get there as well now

Raffaele Marciello will be driving in FP1 for Ferrari at Malaysia. Meanwhile, I have heard Esteban Ocon has left the Gravity driver programme (for Lotus F1). Which is a massive shame.

Wow. If that's the case, this might be much worse. Maybe Alonso out for quite a few races if he got his brains scrambled that badly?!?

A bit late, but I saw someone quote Dr Gary Hartstein, the ex-F1 Doctor that was posting very useful information around the time of Schumachers head injury last year, and he said that it takes around 6 weeks from a large concussion before the brain resumes it's normal activity. And I think I'm right in saying that short term amnesia following a large accident has occurred quite recently, I think with Trulli or Fisichella at Silverstone he was unable to confirm the date and day after rolling over? In this case, if they did take 6 weeks to allow Alonso to recover then he would also miss Malaysia but I doubt that they will.

Mike Baird, current Premier of New South Wales, if re-elected (election in two weeks) will put in an $180 million bid to move the Grand Prix from Melbourne to Sydney. If the bid is successful, the proposed circuit would include the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

That would be the most logistic nightmare, it's such a audacious move that would never work.

It had my vote, because racecar.

No, I'd rather not. I don't know much about these kind of things, but I think the Australian GP is fine where it is in terms of the track the race is hosted at.

The main problem is that the Harbour Bridge isn't just a landmark, it's the main road in and out of the CBD. Closing that will put on of the largest city's in the world into lockdown. Sydney also has one of the worst train and bus networks in the world. That's why I don't see it happening.

That could mean they go under the bridge. I've never been to Sydney but I think there is a road that goes under the bridge that could be used as part of the course.

EDIT: Under the bridge, not 'nuder' the bridge. Shocked That was a very embarrassing typo.

There's the Sydney Harbour Tunnel. Doubt that would be used though since that's nearly twice as long as the bridge itself.
