2014 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix - Formula 1
And here we are - the last race of the season. Hamilton and Rosberg have a shot at the title. A 1-2 finish in either order by Mercedes wraps it up for Lewis. A win for Nico with Lewis finishing third or worse gives the title to Rosberg. Under normal points, Rosberg would have to win with Lewis finishing at least seventh, or Nico would have to finish second with Hamilton not scoring at all. Toto Wolff has said that Hamilton's car failing would be "a nightmare".
Caterham's back, having raised enough from their crowdfunding to get back in the game, though, they've extended the deadline on their crowdfunding page through Sunday so they can raise the full 2.3 million pounds. Kamui Kobayashi will be in one of the race seats; not sure who will be in the other.
McLaren have said they will announce their 2015 driver lineup after December 1.
So, other than MercedeswinsLOL, how will all this go?

Re: 2014 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix - Formula 1
I'm honestly not that keen on Abu Dhabi being the best race for the season finale, mostly because of the dumb double points for this race. This race did produce a pretty amazing championship outcome in 2010 though, so I could be proved wrong.

I heard Chilton was going to be the other driver.crl wrote:And here we are - the last race of the season. Hamilton and Rosberg have a shot at the title. Am i the only one who doesn't really mind the double point gimmick, It really isn't as offensive as Nascar's chase and it's something totally off of American short track racing.BWardboy88 wrote:I'm honestly not that keen on Abu Dhabi being the best race for the season finale, mostly because of the dumb double points for this race. It also gives Rosberg a fighting chance rather than hoping for a huge mistake by Hamilton. But Bernie's already planning to get rid of it by next year anyway.
Anywhom...Solidly in the Rosberg camp.

Jules Bianchi is out of his artificial coma, and is returning home to France to continue his recovery. Bianchi is not yet fully conscious, but is breathing on his own.

Could Marussia still not turn up, but not run the cars on track throughout the weekend and receive a 'DNS' just so they can receive 9th place?

If Alonso is going to McLaren, I think he will replace Jenson Button. I honestly think Button is past his prime now sadly, even though he's not had the best car in the past 2 years now. I say give Magnusden a second chance for 2015, I know he hasn't done much since his podium at Australia but he could've done much worse in his Rookie year.

If I were indycar I would be on the phone with the owners of Marussia and possibly Caterham. If they are aggressive in perusing new enterants they could easily pick up a team or two from F1's recent cost problem.
Re: 2014 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix - Formula 1
I remember saying he wouldn't get the Marussia ride due to inexperience, but then gets into F1 before Rossi. Damn.navycook75 wrote:http://www.caterhamf1.com/news/2014/will-stevens

Well... Vettel having to change engines every race, along with just pure crap equipment, (Riccardo is a great driver, BUT 2 of his wins are because the Mercedes were roughing each other). I can't blame Vettel one bit for leaving. Having to start from the back every race would be annoying for me personally.

Far from a sinking ship though, they've been between the 2nd or 3rd best team this year. Ricciardo has put wins on the table too. Vettel's engine problem is more down towards the fault of Renault and maybe himself, I don't think Ricciardo has had these problems so far this year (correct me if wrong).

The most boring brazilian driver ever could have won the most boring race that I have ever watched since the 2005 US GP, and even the US GP was halfway interesting. At least he didn't.

GC Hamilton, although I thought Massa was gonna win this race.
But seriously, Abu Dhabi does not deserve to be the host of the season finale, that was quite the meh race. Poor Rosberg did not deserve all those problems though, without I think he and Hamilton could've put on a hell of a show.

So, today is the first of a two-day test at Yas Marina. Max Verstappen crashed the Toro Rosso just past the hotel.
