Formula 1 - 2014 Austrian Grand Prix
Formula 1 actually returns to a circuit people want it to return to this weekend, as Austria gets a slot on the schedule for the first time since 2003, at the Red Bull Ring, which, from the looks of it, hasn't changed much in over a decade.
Daniel Ricciardo broke a six-race win streak for Mercedes in a wild Canadian GP, while Nico Rosberg's car held out enough for him to finish second, and extend his lead over Lewis Hamilton in the Drivers' Championship to 22 points.
Meanwhile, the race ended in scary fashion, as Felipe Massa and Sergio Perez collided in a frightening crash. Perez was given a five-place grid penalty for Austria, which Force India will attempt to overturn in a hearing later today. Massa is still whining about what happened, which is ridiculous, given how poorly he drove in his early days in F1 (being benched by Sauber for the 2002 USGP ring a bell?). He says he'll "think twice" before attempting to pass Perez in the future, which makes him kind of a wimp when you consider people try to pass Maldonado, and means he should stay home.
Let's see what happens this weekend.

Re: Formula 1 - 2014 Austrian Grand Prix
The Mercedes were once again the best of the rest in first practice, with Nico Rosberg leading the way.

Watched FP1, this race is going to be the balls. I'm guessing over half the field either spun or went well off the track. Vettel did a 720 spin inches from the wall coming onto the front straight.
Re: Formula 1 - 2014 Austrian Grand Prix
And not for the first time this season, Vettel fails to make it into Q3.

WILLIAMS. Massa wins his first pole since Brazil 2008, and Williams first front row lock out since 2003, with HotAss getting his best ever qualifying with 2nd. Rosberg 3rd, while Hamilton failed to set a lap and will start 9th.

I can't help but look at this track and think "Why didn't Tilke do this to the others?". Its not bogged down and overly complicated with rediculous corners and terrible chicanes like Fuji is for instance.
Re: Formula 1 - 2014 Austrian Grand Prix
In addition, the FIA will crack down harder on driver's who run wide at Turn 8 and gain an advantage. Drivers like Lewis Hamilton an Nico Hulkenberg had their best time taken away from them as a result.

If Mercedes is going to win, at least it's the more likeable of the two.
Also, Bottas showing that Williams doesn't suck as much as they used to.
