Apparently basketball owners aren't the only people making racist comments

Is he ever gonna grow up? Probably never. He was the reason why I've enjoyed watching Top Gear all these years, and now he mutters the worst possible word ever. He is losing a lot of respect for these kind of things.

Pretty much this. There's not a single episode in Top Gear where they DON'T say something offensive no matter what topic they're discussing.

Of course, for better and for worse, if he wasn't such a publicly visible figure, nobody would care.

Ideally, there wouldn't be any racist/sexist/homophobes/transphobes/et al in society, but of course, that isn't possible. Silencing the most audible offenders is a start, though.

Also, before any one claims otherwise, I have no issue with free speech. I do have issues with remarks that are simply offensive, however.

The most important part of this is that we need to remember that this isn't all there is to Clarkson's personality (and to other people's, for that matter), and that he's a human, just the same as everyone else.

The initial claim was that he audibly said it. The response was that he mumbled over it in an attempt to not say it.
