Ok, I'm not normally a fan of remixes and quite frankly, you probably wouldn't ever find me posting about or listening to one. However this one is an exception.

As a so called classic rock "purest", I have to agree. This is a great cover. My only nitpick with it probably doesn't have anything to do with the band, but the sound guys (mic volume sounded a little low during some of the verses). The guitar work with mindblowing. It is a fantastic cover.

I wasn't really sure where to put this since I'm not posting a specific song but this thread seemed most appropriate.
Malcolm Young from AC/DC has been admitted to full-time care now that his condition has gotten worse, and his nephew Stevie will be replacing him for their upcoming album and tour. I'm not a fan of AC/DC but it is rather sad seeing him lose his life-long profession.

Sad. But not the first time they've had to replace someone. What makes it more sad is the fact Malcolm was one of the founding members.
And sad and tragic as it was when Bon Scott died, he wasn't one the original founding members.
Re: The Music Thread
I saw them in 2010 for their Black Ice tour. Despite the fact that their collective age is 300 billion, there still provided a better show then a hell of a lot of bands. I even thought they put on a better show than Green Day and Foo Fighters (which are my two favourite bands).F1V1 wrote:I wasn't really sure where to put this since I'm not posting a specific song but this thread seemed most appropriate.

So I just found a band that has made songs based off of an anime/manga called Berserk (my favorite manga). For those that haven't watched/read Berserk, the lyrics may come off as being spoiler-ish.
The fact that there's a metal band that has written songs about an anime/manga, especially one that's a favorite of mine, is mind-blowing.

Here's something a bit different; These came out a few months ago, but I listened to them for the first time yesterday, and they're really catchy and/or funny.
For those who haven't heard them yet: Take some trashy pop songs (including multiple versions of Smash Mouth's All Star), make mashups of them, add some 80s and 90s nostalgia, and you get the mixtapes of your nightmares- Neil Cicierega's:

Stone Sour has easily made themselves one of my favorite bands. I can't choose just one song from either of the House of Gold & Bones albums that I like best. Admittedly I think songs like Gravesend and The Travelers were both a little lackluster, but songs like the two I posted certainly make up for it.

A horrifying nightclub fire in Romania has now claimed 32 lives and dozens more of the 180 injured are in severe conditions. Two of the deceased were the two guitarists for the band Goodbye To Gravity, the singer, bassist, and drummer are in hospitals with major burns, the drummer of which was initially reported dead due to the extent of his injuries.
http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/at-least-27-dead-180-injured-in-explosion-fire-during-bucharest-heavy-metal-concert
The lack of safety regulations in this case is astounding and I'm hoping that, as terrible a situation as it is, club/venue owners will take a bold note of this accident. This isn't a disaster caused by mother nature or unforeseen hazards, it's a disaster that could have been avoided entirely just by following a simple checklist of preparation standards....

No good updates for this I'm afraid. As of this evening the drummer and bassist have both passed away leaving the singer as the only surviving bandmember. The death toll reached 51 earlier when bassist Alex Pascu died. Victor Ponta has resigned from his role as Prime Minister of Romania in response to the massive crowds protesting the government in the wake of this disaster.

Deftones (who if you couldn't tell by my multitude of avatars throughout years are my #1 favorite band) released the first song off of their upcoming 8th album, Gore, Prayers/Triangles. Proving (in my opinion at least) that they are one of the few bands that still got it after 20 years of existence and I can't wait until the album comes out.

Alternative rock band The 1975 have just released their second album to the world, called (good luck saying this in one breath) "I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it". Their first album was a success in the UK and the US, hitting #1 in the UK and #28 in the US, and with this album having a lot more hype around it, it's expected this album will be even more successful. Their single, "The Sound", has been their best performing song in the UK Singles Charts ever, reaching #15. It's been in the Top 40 for the last few weeks, as well, and their latest single "Somebody Else", is starting to come into the charts too.
Here is the first single off the album, "Love Me". You may recognise this from the background of a few Dash Cup races.

Rap makes its way into my head, too, but I've followed Pryde for about 6 years or so and this one I haven't stopped listening to. At least it's not Drake or young Thug, I suppose.
Fell in love with these guys right before their first album came out thanks to a good friend and they just released a couple bonus tracks including this one.
If anyone knows me well, you know how much I advertise these guys on social media. I pitched in to help fund this album and I highly advise that if you like post-hardcore, you should check them out. Or make fun of me for it. I'm used to that by now.

Re: The Music Thread
Today, Canada got some devastating news. The Tragically Hip announced that lead signer Gord Downie has been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. The Hip are huge over here, pretty much a part of the Canadian fabric. Rush may be bigger internationally, but The Hip are pretty much Canada's #1 music outlet. They've won 14 Juno awards. (Canada's Grammy awards). This story is so big, it's even the top story on TSN (Canada's ESPN), as they're big fans of hockey.
They are a rock band from Ontario. Their peak was in the late 80's, early 90's with great album's like Up to Here, Road Apples, Day for Night and their best album Fully Completely. Check them out, you may like them!
They'll be doing a summer tour, most likely the last one, and i'll probably go attend if they come to my part of Canada. (This would probably be my first ever concert too).
I'll leave you with probably my favorite song from The Hip, "Fifty Mission Cap". It's a story about Bill Barilko, a Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman, who scored the Stanley Cup winning goal in overtime back in 1951 over Montreal. 5 days later, he went on a fishing trip up Northern Ontario, he disappeared without a trace. Until, 1962, the same year Toronto, won it's next Stanley Cup.

My greatest fear as a music fan has happened.
A band has (sort of) broke up within a week of discovering them.
I've been getting into J-Rock and Idol Metal recently with the discover of BABYMETAL (Thanks based HHH and NXT), and one band that I found, which interestingly enough had an Australian in it, was a group called Ladybaby. Ladybaby was two girls and an Australian wrestler by the name of Ladybeard. Ladybeard unfortunately confirmed today that he has left the band, and although the rest of the group will continue, without Ladybeard, a huge element of the group has disappeared.
On a more positive note, if different languages doesn't phase you in music, then I highly recommend both BABYMETAL and Band-Maid.

Re: The Music Thread
My ex-boyfriend introduced me to this band last year. Took me a while to come around to them, but this song, "Changing for the Rain", soon became one of my favorite songs, second to Stone Sour's "A Rumor of Skin" which I posted above. That's mostly because it got me through a difficult time last year.
Dear Whoever was another one of those mid-2000s emo bands that stuck around for the decade and dispersed near its end, which is unfortunate because most of their stuff only got demo releases; they only had two EPs. What attracted me I guess is that even though they're a screamo band it's still a very soft, light sound, the likes of which I've only found in sparingly few other places. I'd liken it to a cross between Hawthorne Heights and early Alesana. I'm certain that if I were ever in a band, this is the sound I'd like to have.
Mozart Season is a similar case. Always had a fondness for "Prophecies in Kodak", especially the bridge line, "Call me something/Call me curious/Just so I know you're fine/Just so I know I spoke in time". It speaks to my anxiety.
Some of you might know that I graduated high school this past June, and this was one song that got me through the end of the school year. Every day started to feel like I was returning from the war, and I consider Silverstein's "Je Me Souviens" a song about that feeling of coming home after a difficult day.
