Re: The Music Thread
After spending hours listening to everyone's music, I figured it's my turn to show my personal favorites. I can be pretty diverse when it comes to music.
Gojira - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3o4hKYNz7mY
Meshuggah (I like listening to songs that have a different pitch sound and/or is slower/faster just to see if it actually sounds better than the original song ) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfn9NMCSU9k (20% slower) | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pGX1cQYVps (25% faster) | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbUZkWVf96w (dubstep verion, although it's short :/)
Within Temptation - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clK7UTpuuos&feature=plcp&context=C3a7f637UDOEgsToPDskIXw8Pla_g82tv7962_RJ3K
Eminem - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAv0gt7cqtY
Fiendflug - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHeEaV4j5Ak
Boston (Yup. Them too ) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41ryARbczMs

Anyone who's played the first Gran Turismo will recognize this song as an instrumental featured in the American version.

Remember MLB 10: The Show? This little ditty was in it:
And since the topic of Quincy Jones TV themes came up (yes, the Sanford and Son theme is one of his), how many of you remember this one?
The song is called "Chump Change"...the TV show? A mid-70s (reborn in the late '80s) game show called Now You See It.

Ok, this is my all-time favorite song (I know I might catch crap for it). It's not heavy metal, but it's been my favorite for about the last 10 years or so. Still know all the words.
I kind of consider it the unofficial theme song of America.

YES!!!! You had better believe that "Mama" is by far my favorite Genesis track! You fine sir have just earned major badass points in my book. I take it you like Phil Collins/Genesis as well?
Gotta love Phil breaking down into David Drainman in that track. If you can find it, his live version at Live Aid is better than the album IMO.
Whatever happened to good music nowadays? I was told that each generation usually carves out its own niche and has someone that truly defines them music-wise. In the 60's, you had Hendrix and Joplin, Zeppelin and Pink Floyd in the 70's and Rush, Judas Priest and Phil Collins in the 80's. I think in this millenium, we took a step BACKWARDS. You know why piracy is so rampant? Not only is it because of the the technological advances that have taken but I also think that peoplequiye frankly don't want to pay for the bullshit that comes out now. And it's the same for Movies too.

Part of the reason why everyone pirates a lot of stuff nowadays is for the exact reasons you listed. Most music nowadays is really horrid (although i do admit that i like a few songs on the top 40 list, Moves like Jagger and Just a Dream to name a couple.), but some bands are getting that we're sick of crap and bands like the Black Keys, and a few other bands are actually trying to make good music and are doing a good job with that. That's my rant on today's music. Oh, and imo the best bands of the 90's were Nirvana, Dinosaur Jr., and KMFDM (i just posted rock and metal bands, whatevs.). The 90's can be defined with quite a few good rock songs and a few good rock bands. yep. CHEESE.
I do like Phil Collins quite a bit, i'll post links to a couple more of my fav tracks from him down below:
