It is the Salzburgring though. If the Citroens push too hard they will blow out the tires. It's one of the few tracks on the WTCC calendar where anything can happen.

Even then, Citroen still win!

Re: Touring Car Thread
Colin Turkington starts on Pole for Race 1 today, Jason Plato is 2nd. Some big names are well down the order, Andrew Jordan is 13th, Matt Neal 14th and Alain Menu 15th.
Re: Touring Car Thread
Aron Smith has won Race 3 of the BTCC today at Oulton Park, while Colin Turkingon swept the first 2 races of today.
Re: Touring Car Thread
Giovanardi had a nice 3rd race, could have had more if Menu hadn't tried it through Knickerbrook in Race 2.

How stupid. Why couldn't they have issued a penalty then and there, instead of doing one after the fact? Nice to see BTCC officialdom is as consistent as NASCAR is.
Full disclosure: Barney supports Andrew Jordan and Matt Neal, two of Plato's rivals. Thus the LOL.

The BTCC have been consistent this year in adjourning penalties for illegal overtaking similar to that of Plato's bump on Turkington.

Because the races are only 12 laps long.

Also the fact was the contact took place late in the race, so the Stewards wouldn't have had a lot of time to look at it straightaway.

... are you fucking kidding me?
Andrew Jordan can wreck Jason Plato for a win at Brands Hatch (last year) and keep his position (EDIT: I thought Jordan won the race, but Plato still won apparently), but Plato loses a position BECAUSE OF A FUCKING BUMP?!?
What a joke.

New regulations for this year to limit bumping. A bit silly, considering the way drivers treated each other during the Super Touring era, but motorsport has changed...sadly.

Yeah, it's the first I heard of it, honestly. It was kind of what gave BTCC it's character. Oh well, I'm sure they'll screw up a call and it'll be scraped in time.

No offence Ben but looking at the incident, to me it looked like Turkington hit his braking point but Plato misjudged it. I may never be a fan of Plato, but I don't think he meant to do it, but ultimately it really wasn't a legitimate passing move and the Stewards have to do something about it. But also, losing a place or two can always play a big outcome in the championship.

If it was intentional, then I'd understand, but if it was a mistake, then it really is a farce of a penalty. Just tell him to give him the position back at the time and that's that.

He did get him in turn 1, but Turkington made a good move to get it back straight away. Ah well, it is what it is.

And from what I've heard, the International layout for Oulton Park may not be used again after several teams and drivers criticized the Racing as 'boring' after the lack of position changes during the 3 Races.

Way too many penalties at Croft. This is touring car racing, of course there's going to be cars running into each other. And yet, the one time there is a clear reason for a penalty, he gets away with a slap on the wrist.Â

The 2015 BTCC Calendar has been released, with really the only change being that the Oulton Park Circuit will go back to the shorter Island version after the International Circuit produced very processional Racing this year.

Lewis Hamilton's younger brother, Nicolas Hamilton who has a disability called Cerebral Palsy, is targeting a drive in the BTCC next year.

Both Jason Plato and Sam Tordoff have left MG and Triple Eight, as Tordoff makes a surprising move to West Surrey Racing.

There is speculation that Plato could be heading to West Surrey Racing too. With Triple Eight confirming that they have new sponsors for next year, Tesco have confirmed that they will stick with Plato, and with West Surrey looking for a new sponsor, make of that what you will...

Me being an MG Fan? Maybe, if they give him the best car possible then he could start winning more races and championships.
As for Turkington, it's possible he'll stay, depends on what happens to Rob Collard. If he's the one that gets replaced by Plato, then I could see him being Jordan's teammate at Triple 8.
Re: Touring Car Thread
A lot of people have been saying Giovanardi could partner Jordan at Triple 8. There's also a chance that Andy Priaulx could drive for WSR although there could be clashes with his ELMS schedule.

Given how Giovanardi was so comprehensively smashed by Mat Jackson last year, I don't see why Triple 8 would bother with him over drivers like Turkington or Jackson.

His performance wasn't good in 2014, no, but when he first drove the Astra Sport Hatch, similar to the Focus, in 2006 it didn't suit his style of driving (although he was much, much better than he was this year) while when he changed to the saloon fwd Vectra in 2007 and 2008 he won the titles. Even more, they were also both done with Triple 8 so he has history with the time. Jackson deserves it but I would assume he's staying in the Motorbase Ford next year?

I dunno if a change of car will help Gio, it just doesn't seem like the NGTC regs suit him at all. Like you said, even when he struggled in 2006 it was nowhere near as bad as this year. It's a shame, but I'd rather see him leave and (maybe) find the success he deserves elsewhere than stay and get hammered for another year.
As for Jackson, I would've assumed he was going to stay with Motorbase for 2014, but they left it until Media Day to confirm he was staying, so I'm not sure what the situation's like there.

Priaulx makes a return to BTCC with WSR although seemingly he'll clash with USCC commitments.
In terms of 888, apparently looking for a younger driver so maybe Tingram?
