Wow, this is huge. This is basically like the 2001-2006 TV deal with Fox and NBC splitting Cup and Nationwide.

Not too crazy about FOX getting to cover more races, but I'm glad NBC is getting to broadcast some NASCAR races again, especially with the NBCSN Channel being a factor now. I'm honestly going to miss ESPN a little. Once they got Allen Bestwick in the booth, it actually got good. I wonder where the ESPN crew will go now that ESPN will stop broadcasting NASCAR races by the end of next year.

I imagine some of them will either go to Fox or to NBC. The rest will probably shift over to ESPN's IndyCar team.

Been talking about this for months with the guys on Teamspeak. Not surprised but it's cool to see NBC come back but stunned ESPN is gone completely.

Reading the deal also picks up some Nascar Mexico, K&N, and Modified races.

I'm sure we'll be complaining about the terrible coverage, excessive commercials, overused catch phrases, and over-hype like we always do. Anymore, it seems to me that any network you insert into a sentence is a synonym for incompetence.

sad thing is, 13 years ago when ESPN left though that door, people would be holding it open, now it will just be that one guy who holds the door open for you even though you're still a half mile away.

They've been pretty good with F1 and Indycar coverage. Nascar will be their real test.

Should note that this new deal will see NASCAR and Turner part ways after nearly 30 years together. This means that FOX will become NASCAR's longest-running active TV partner in 2015.

I know NBC doesn't branch out into Australia, but Fox does with Foxtel. Speed Australia already gets NBC Indycar races anyway. Shouldn't be that big of a problem.

According to what I'm reading on the Sports Business Journal website, it won't be that simple. ESPN would have to surrender Nationwide Series rights in addition to Cup rights in order for such a switch to go through.

UPDATE: Statement From NASCAR Vice President Of Broadcasting And Production Steve Herbst On 2014 Broadcast Partners: Despite recent reports to the contrary, nothing substantive has been presented to NASCAR regarding broadcast partners plans to alter our TV agreement in 2014. Were very happy with our current broadcast partners and fully expect and are excited to be back with FOX, Turner and ESPN next year. These types of discussions happen regularly across the sports television landscape, very rarely resulting in changes to a media rights agreement.(NASCAR)(8-28-2013)
