Formula 1 - 2013 Santander British Grand Prix
Ah, Silverstone. Your weather can be wacky, like last year - nothing but rain on Friday and Saturday, but Sunday couldn't have been more pleasant.
Ole Seb's threatening to run off and put his name alongside those of Schumacher, Fangio and Prost as four-time champs. His teammate's won this thing two out of the last three years, including last year. The Mercedes row has been settled with Ye Olde Slap on the Wriste, and we can get back to racing...for the moment.
Aside from Mark Webber, other former British GP winners in the field include Fernando Alonso (2006 and 2011), Vettel (2009, at what we thought was going to be the last British GP at Silverstone, until that changed), Lewis Hamilton [2008], and Kimi (2007).
Only a slight chance of rain in the forecast for this weekend, with Saturday having the best chance. Full weather report: http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/Silverstone+UKXX1916:1:UK.
Once the race is run, everyone will pack up, and head to the Nurburgring the very next weekend.
Predictions?

Will be making my annual commute to Northamptonshire this weekend.
At the moment a cloudy but dry South-East England.

This race will probably the the usual bore fest where Red Bull wins and the Brits disappoint me, only rain will make this any good. Glad I'm at Donnington for the 750mc then.

If only Mercedes can turn their great recent qualifying performances into the races, it's the only realistic they can have a change at the Drivers and Constructors Title

About to head off for Silverstone now, and it looks like it will rain: clouds and fog.

And that qualifying will air live today on NBCSports.com, and air on delay at 2 PM Eastern on NBC Sports Network, because of NBCSN's coverage of the Tour de France.

Sergio Perez had a tire blowout during final practice, and crashed. McLaren wasn't doing that well this weekend, anyway.

Mercedes are showing amazing qualifying form this year. I wonder why Hamilton isn't turning them poles into wins...

Because Mercedes are an all-consuming black hole of tyres.

Had my doubts about this race for some reason. Was Completely wrong.
Awesome stuff! Awesome Race! Great win to Rosberg holding off Webber's banshee driver at the end
Pirelli's got some splaning to do lol.

Re: Formula 1 - 2013 Santander British Grand Prix
It might be because I haven't watched much F1, but I definitely didn't anticipate a race like that at Silverstone!
Certainly appeared to be Vettel's race until his gearbox went kaput, giving way to Rosberg's 3rd F1 victory in wild fashion! Webber made a great comeback from his usual terrible start to the race, and Hamilton also made a good comeback to the top 5 after blowing a left rear tire from the lead early in the race.
I don't believe that Pirelli can really be blamed for today from what I've heard from many people about the kerbs in turn 4.

Re: Formula 1 - 2013 Santander British Grand Prix
For the British GP, this was undoubtably a truly awesome race. The whole Left-Rear tyre Pirelli situation was very weird, considering that never happened in the last 2 F1 Races at Silverstone. Rosberg drove such a hard fought win, especially capitalising on Vettel's Retirement, an in my opinion Lewis Hamilton made one of the best recovery drives I've seen in F1 in quite a while.
At least his puncture happened early in the race for him to recover back to 4th, maybe not a podium but a Top-5 finish is good for him, and Massa made a great recovery to 6th after also having an early race puncture too. Lots of great battles in this race, would've thought Webber had something on Rosberg in the last few laps but wasn't quite close enough to try to battle him for the win. Overall, one of the best races of the year, if not the best.

They had a tyre that worked in 2011 and 2012. Unless suddenly the kerb was reprofiled for some reason, I see no excuse for what happened today.

I was at Donington all day so I missed this, looks like it wasn't as boring as I thought it would be.

Sucks that I missed it, I'm happy for Rosberg, it seems like his career is finally picking up.

100%. Very heavy material, and it wouldn't be the first time. Senna of course was killed by material (albeit metal) and Massa very nearly was as well-not tyre but similar situation.
