2013 Belgian Grand Prix - Formula 1
Formula 1 is back this week after a long summer break. They're heading to one of the most challenging and exciting tracks on the planet, Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.
Last year, Jenson Button went wire-to-wire to his first victory over 2013 point leader and 3-time defending world champ Sebastian Vettel on this 4.3-mile, 7-kilometer racetrack, a race that also featured the stupidity of Romain Grosjean's infamous 1st lap crash.
Last time out, Lewis Hamilton put everyone to school at the Hungaroring in very hot conditions.
What will happen Sunday?

A drivers nightmare-FP1 is semi wet, with sector 1 wet, sector 2 dry and sector 3 damp. Almost impossible to work on a set up in this weather...
Meanwhile, something went wrong with Raikkonen's car 30 minutes into the session.

Weather update...
Weather Channel says flat out rain now, 80% chance now instead of the 30% chance they were calling for earlier in the week.

I forgot to mention yesterday, but both Vettel and Alonso suffered tyre failures in yesterday's session. The reason of the explosions are unknown...Pirelli on the way out in 2014, incoming: GoodYear?

They should bring in Firestone, because I haven't heard anything bad about them in Indycar. (correct me if I'm wrong.)Milan655 wrote:I forgot to mention yesterday, but both Vettel and Alonso suffered tyre failures in yesterday's session. I thought they wanted less tire blow outs.Milan655 wrote:I forgot to mention yesterday, but both Vettel and Alonso suffered tyre failures in yesterday's session. The reason of the explosions are unknown...Pirelli on the way out in 2014, incoming: GoodYear?

The only thing that can stop Vettel from winning is the rain.

Di Resta almost caused chaos with that spin in the final corner, close to ruined a lot of people's sessions. Panicking when I saw that, with both Ferrari's in the bottom 6 at that point!

I have a feeling Bianchi might be without KERS.

Re: 2013 Belgian Grand Prix - Formula 1
I called that terribly wrong, P2 for championship leader Vettel, and P8 is Raikkonen, P9 Alonso. Not good...

It's a wet weather race so anything can happen. Not to mention, knowing Kimi, getting through the field should be a walk in the park for him.

At least Ricciardo was able to salvage a point after Toro Rosso's disastrous Q1.

The only good thing about that race was Maldonado destroying Paul di Resta's Force India.
Re: 2013 Belgian Grand Prix - Formula 1
So, there was a protest against Shell during the race today:

Really? They barely did anything during the race - if it wasn't for the discussion about it I never would've known they were there at all.PYLrulz wrote:Greenpeace... Nothing more than eco-terrorists. Whaling ships should just sink their shanty boats

There was a bit of booing. They have the same effect on the earth that wood splinters have. Occasionally they might get into your skin, by so lightly it's not worth even bothering about.RetrogradeRenegade wrote:Really? Re: 2013 Belgian Grand Prix - Formula 1
Just saw the re-air on NBC. During the podium, the world feed faded into a wide shot of the whole podium, but one of the banners had already been raised up, so they quickly faded into a close-up of Vettel. The camera zoomed in on Vettel further when the guy in the suit went to take down the first banner.
