Re: 2013 Sprint All Star Race
This is now the most boring All-Star event in sports. Yes, worse than the Pro Bowl.

Um... There's no Pit Road Speed this year..
*New is that there will be no pit-road speed, and the pit crew cannot go over the wall until the car has come to a complete stop.*TSN
I'm kinda scared for this.
EDIT - I think it's just for qualifying

And Kurt Bush being booed less than Kyle, for some reason. The way they "revealed" the 10 car via a tarp was pretty cool, if a bit unnecessary. (anyone up for spamming the fan vote in favor of some random S&P next time? I think it would be funny, personally.)

Re: 2013 Sprint All Star Race
While they were on the formation lap, I had an idea.
20 Cup Cars,
15 Nationwide Cars,
8 Truck Cars
Multiclass racing at the all-star race. Race winners in each series partake, each class winner gets a big cash check. That would be fun times.

This. He's a great driver. I know we complain about him and how he has that horseshoe, but Johnson is a damn good driver and he earned that one.

Re: 2013 Sprint All Star Race
Cup drivers dominating Nationwide is different, he's not supposed to be there in the first place, as it is a development series, completely different from a Cup driver winning in a Cup series.Lucstar88 wrote:navycook75 wrote:Rykia_RKXK wrote:navycook75 wrote:Before the shitstorm begins, why does it bother you that one of the best drivers in the field wins so much?

I actually enjoyed the all-star for the most part. The last 10 laps were kinda lackluster but the rest of the race was fairly decent. Also, looks like McMurray's got quite a good car for the 600

All these false implications.
The best driver in NASCAR wins the best of the best race. Yet people complain. I get why people hate Kyle for winning, but Jimmie seems to be one of the nicest guys in the field and a great ambassador for the sport, yet is one of the most hated guys.
Current field for the next years All-Star race.
#2 Brad Keselowski –2012 Sprint Cup Champion.
#5 Kasey Kahne –2013 Spring winner. All-Star XXIV winner.
#14 Tony Stewart – All-Star XXV winner. 2 Championships (2005, 2011)
#18 Kyle Busch – 2wins (2013 California AAA 400, 2013 Texas NRA 500)
#20 Matt Kenseth - 3 wins (2013 Las Vegas Kobalt Tools 400, 2013 Kansas STP 400, 2013 Bojangles Southern 500), All-Star XX winner.
#29 Kevin Harvick – All-Star XXIII winner. 2013 Richmond Toyota Owners 400 winner
#34 David Ragan – 2013 Aarons 499 winner
#48 Jimmie Johnson – 2 wins (2013 Daytona 500, 2013 Martinsville STP Gas Booster 500) . 3 All-Star wins (XXII, XXVIII, XXIX). 5 Championships (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010)
#55 Mark Martin – All Star XXI winner.
#78 Kurt Busch – All-Star XXVI winner. 2004 Championship.
#99 Carl Edwards – 2013 Phoenix Subway Fresh Fit 500 winner. All-Star XXII winner.

exactly, I don't see what's so bad about a dominant driver, it's been here since the beginning, and will be here until the end.
While there have been dominant drivers in the past and it's always gonna be a part of racing, the problem here lies in the fact that Jimmie Johnson, to me and a lot of people, I think, is a very uninteresting driver, and while he seems like a nice guy, there are times when he acts like a total douche. And let's be honest here, do you really want to see the same result over and over and over again by a guy you really don't find that interesting? Yes, Jimmie is a good driver, and he's set all kinds of records, and that's all well and good, but when you have the personality of a mannequin, seriously, who the f**k cares? Nobody wants to watch a product with a predictable outcome, and the All-Star race, from what I've seen and heard, was overhyped once again and failed to live up to expectations. I don't know if it did, TBH, because I didn't watch it. I was at CMS watching Crash-A-Rama, so I can't really give an honest opinion on the race itself.
If you're a Jimmie Johnson fan, and I know there's one or two on this forum (I'm looking at you, Antknee ), then more power to you. Enjoy Jimmie's record setting fourth win in the All-Star race. But for the rest of the fans, here's their reaction: I personally don't give a rat's helmet what Jimmie does anymore, because hating on him is not worth my time anymore. All do is shrug and say next race. That's it. But there are fans that just don't like Jimmie because 1. He makes the sport way too predictable at times and 2. He's an uninteresting driver.
Bottom line, if you're a Jimmie fan, good for you. If you want to hate on him, go ahead. Just keep it within reason so you don't look like a total douche. I personally don't give a rip. If he wins, whatever. GG, and let's move on to the next race.
Rant mode disengaged.

The main reason I don't care for Johnson and haven't since he came into the sport is he is two-faced. Yes, he is seems very nice and well rounded, but what about his tantrum after the Duel race in '05? Oh, and doing the exact same thing that he b*tched about Harvick doing to Sadler later in the year.
Yes, I ticks me off he won 5 straight title, but there's nothing I can do about that. But, what really gets me going is when you have people pointing and complaining about something a driver does and yet they like a driver that ends up doing or has done the exact same thing.
So, I don't like Johnson and I think I would be able to brush off the races he wins if his fans and the media didn't make him into such a clean cut nice guy. Newsflash he's not.
