United States Grand Prix - Forumla One
Formula One heads to Austin, Texas for its first United States Grand Prix since Indianapolis five years ago. Vettel's got his eyes on the prize and his hands on the wheel with a ten point lead over Fernando Alonso going into Texas, but the championship is far from decided.
Will Vettel extend his lead going into the final race of the F1 season, or will Alonso hunt him down in the lone star state?

F1 racing in the U.S. while NASCAR is having their season finale at Homestead. This is going to be too much to handle!!!!

The channel recall button on my remote will probably be destroyed by the end of next Sunday.

Re: United States Grand Prix - Forumla One
So much going on this weekend, and after NASCAR has finished there will only be F1 left pretty much. Well this year has sure gone by quicker than ever before.
Re: United States Grand Prix - Forumla One
I hope they have a good show, because F1 in Amurica needs it. Indianapolis was bland when cars were spinning in Turn 13. This one is a Tilke track, one which looks like it doesn't have a whole lot of passing zones. I hope I am wrong though!

Ok you know what if I were Alonso right now is just hand the title to Vettel because he won't keep up with that Red Bull at all, the end.

What's the official seat capacity for the track?

Im sure it's an interesting circuit to drive, but this is just boring to watch..I'll wait for the race before making a conclusion, but I think there are too few areas of overtaking. Very much follow the leader style.

There's no question Vettel will be on pole, no one's ever gonna go faster than him.
Re: United States Grand Prix - Forumla One
If Vettel wins he will become a 3 time world champion, joining the likes of Ayrton Senna, Niki Lauda and Jackie Stewart. I think it is already set in stone he is, along with Alonso, Formula One's greatest drivers since 1993 (Prost and Senna).

I thought Jackie Stewart said that if Vettel even does win a third title, he still isn't a legend in F1.

With or without 3 titles, I think Vettel is one of the best to enter Formula One. He does have the help of a great chassis, but it takes a good car and talent to become a world champion.

Yet he's been in F1 for 6 years now (since 2007), and winning a 3rd title would mean half of those seasons he's competed in he will have won 3 of them.

He's only been in Formula One for 5 years. In 2007 he competed in a single race with BMW in the US (if he wins it here, it will be truly a moment to remember) and then completed the rest with Toro Rosso.

But still, I'm amazed at the amount of talent he's shown since his days at Toro Rosso and now at Red Bull.

I was just thinking the other day, if the next Senna, or Schumacher, or Prost were racing today, would we notice, or for that matter care? Would we hate on him for it?Milan655 wrote:If Vettel wins he will become a 3 time world champion, joining the likes of Ayrton Senna, Niki Lauda and Jackie Stewart. I see some similarities between Schumacher and Vettel's dominance, and non-Ferrari fan's were very angry over these 5 years

I'm getting the impression this race might draw over 100,000 at this rate. If I recall when Indy hosted the 1st Grand Prix in 10 years or so, they drew a crowd of over 200,000, which was and still is considered to be the largest crowd at an F1 race.

Yes we would care, because we're talking about Vettel and Alonso in this thread.

Re: United States Grand Prix - Forumla One
I watched the replay of qualifying last night, and after seeing the onboard of Vettel's pole lap, I am very impressed with the track layout. Those esses are gnarly as hell. Watching Vettel's car go through there reminded me of a video I saw of Tim Richmond hurling his car around Riverside. Absolutely crazy how he threw the car around in those corners and made it stick. Not to mention the curved braking zones and multi-apex corners that will really test the drivers. This is a fantastic example of a "driver's track", not the same bland "straight-hairpin-straight-hairpin" Tilkedrome crap we've been getting lately. Screw passing zones, I want to see 24 cars dancing on the edge all day long

Re: United States Grand Prix - Forumla One
Massa takes 5 position grid penalty to change a gearbox, will start 11th. This promotes Alonso to 7th. Ferrari made the move so that both drivers could start on the "clean side" of the grid, where more rubber has been laid down.
Not that it'll help them enough to overcome Vettel, but they can dream right?

His car has let him down enough times, I would be happy for him to leave McLaren with at least one more win for them.

Lewis Hamilton wins in the return of the United States Grand Prix. I believe a lot of people (including myself) really underestimated this race, as it was quite entertaining.

That race was actually good. I didn't think there would be a lot of overtaking in the race considering there were only hard compound tires available for the race. Also, it was cool seeing a driver actually racing for the win. Well, on to the NASCAR race.

If Alonso wins in Brazil, he will need Vettel to place 4th or below. I think it will be 4th and below, Alonso has placed in 2nd once more than Vettel and will equal the amount of wins of Vettel.
