Re: Pacifica Cup (Sydney Pre-race posted)
Abbey Engineering crew pleased by pace.
Team boss Ray Jackson was very pleased by the speed his two rookies showed in the first test session. Charlotte Boardman 1st and Sheila Reynolds finished 6th. Here is what he had to say. "We've had some pretty decent speed in places and it certainly showed here, both drivers have done terrific jobs in cars that have only done one private test session and this will hopefully get more publicity for the team. A big thanks to the guys at Aurora for producing this car and helping us with setups and Tyre wear details, we now have the task of proving it wasn't a fluke." Charlotte Boardman and Sheila Reynolds were both reportedly happy with the times recorded but both were unable for interview. It is understood that Reynolds was involved in a crash on a country road, a few hours before the testing took place.

Pacifica Cup Tech expert warns first quater of the season could see reliability woes
The Pacifica Cup Lead Technical inspector, former international open-wheel car designer, Jamie Robinson, depicted a harsh reality for the teams after the first test session. "After looking at all 10 cars after the first testing session, 7 out of ten had some sort of engine stress, the two Falcons, blew up in the session. The 26 car, caught fire once he hit 92 car in the first session, so we can't tell if that was another car that had engine stress. This was a 30 minute session, the next test is at Calder Park. A track which see's, higher revs for extended periods of time. These V-10 engines are too tempremental, so for the first 4 races, if half the field finishes, it will be a miracle. The race I am most worried about is Canberra, because from the tire tests, cars were hitting 215-220 MPH, right on the rev-limiter. I have suggested to Peter (McCormick), to ban the use of grill tape for Canberra, and have a bigger coolent tank installed in the car."

There really isn't a set contig set
What I am saying is, there is no real set of contingency decals. If you want you can, but I could care less
Ratings System
This can be confusing so I will put this in steps for you.
1. Each ratings block has four categories
Short Track:
Speedway:
Superspeedway:
Road Course:
Aggression
Consistency
Qualifying
Finishing
Areodynamics
Chassis
Engine
Reliability
2. Each category has a base rating of 40-60
3. For each category, you can add as many points as you want, for example
Finishing: +20
4. However each block must equal 0, example
Short Track: +10
Speedway: -5
Superspeedway: -10
Road Course: +5
10-5-10+5=0
5. NOTE: DON'T BOTHER WITH SHORT TRACK, THERE WON'T BE ANY ON THE SCHEDULE
6. Any questions, please ask me.
Do we do the same for pit ratings.(is it 40-60 like every other categories

+20 points added to what? Is there a base line for the ratings?!

Base rating is 40-60. I have used the lack of short tracks in this series to my advantage by doing this.
Short Track 00-00
Speedway 60-80
Super Speedway 60-80
Road Course 60-80
20+20+20-60=0
I shouldn't really be giving this info away but i need f1fan to check whether it's allowed. then i'll delete the post.

I am not counting short track, so therefore that ratings system wouldn't count.

Actually, using order of operations:
40 - (60 +20) = 40 - 80 = 40 + (-80) = -40
60 - 80 = 60 + (-80) = -20
As you can see -40 =/= -20
Oh, I thought this was arithmetic, my bad.
Yeah, you add the points to the baseline as weights.

You don't add up the two values. So therefore 60-80 would work.

Re: Pacifica Cup (Sydney Pre-race posted)
Tire Test at Canberra Speedway raises saftey concerns
In an untimed tire test at the brand new Canberra Speedway, many cars were breaking loose in a section of track called "The Dogleg." The dogleg mimicks Calder Park Thunderdrome's frontstrech and also mimmicks many American racetracks such as the Texas Motor Speedway, and the Atlanta Motor Speedway. The main issue is the speeds the cars are hitting through "The Dogleg," almost 220MPH! And the cars are sliding around on that section of track. Peter McCormick had this to say about The Dogleg. "It is an added challenge for our drivers. Having that section of track actually makes The Canberra Speedway, safer than most ovals its size because it spreads out the field, rather than holding them togeather as is the case on most American Ovals." Some drivers are expected to complain about that section of track. Mark Elias said this, "Coming out of local racing, I have never driven so fast, but when it is normal to slide when you are driving 200+MPH, that is not good. So I think we need to slow these cars down for Canberra."

Pre-season Test 2
The 2nd pre-season test took place at the Calder Park Thunderdrome. With the addition of two more cars, the fans got a feel for what the league will look like this season. The only major news item happened with 2 seconds left in the session. When the 56 hit the wall, and Dylan Andrew hooked Suzuka into the inside wall. The 56 slammed HARD into the inside wall, head on. His medical condition is unknown, however he probably will at least be sitting out for the rest of Pre-Season. The next 2 testing sessions will be a race simulation. Where the drivers and teams will participate in "Pick-up races" at both Mallala and Canberra.

2 38 R Hughes 23.345

I've got the rating in and a car request up. Just a matter of getting someone to paint it.

Re: Pacifica Cup (Sydney Pre-race posted)
I am once again extending the deadline. I would like some more cars on the grid. I'll extend it to whenever I have 18 cars. I have 14 cars now.
Or until I have the motivation to run a 14 car race.

You just need to not say uh as much, it was quite frequent. Other than that, solid video.
