- DUH, SPOILERS:
Matthews irate after incident ends title hopes
It was an opportunity that Taylor Matthews had been waiting for since she clinched the ARLA Street Stocks East division championship: the opportunity to take on Bradley Carlisle to settle the National Championship.
Thanks to a backmarker, though, she never got that chance.
Matthews was dumped by Curtis Smith, Jr. - coincidentally, a West Division regular - on Lap 25, sending her into the inside retaining wall, handing Carlisle the championship essentially by default.
Matthews was understandably livid, throwing her helmet at Curtis Smith's car as it passed by her disabled Lycoia under pacing. She had to be ushered to the ambulance for the mandatory health check by series officials.
The trip to the care center did little to calm the younger sister of Elite Series regular Ryan Matthews' temper.
"I don't know what the hell that punk Curtis Smith thought he was doing," she said. "That fucking guy outright dumped me, and he cost me a shot at the damn title! I hope to God the officials do something about that guy, because if they don't I will. I may be a girl, but I can and will kick his ass."
Matthews was ushered back to the team hauler by her brother, where she remained the balance of the evening.
