Bob Jenkins Announced He's Retiring By the End of 2012
As Bob Jenkins being a long time favorite announcer of mine since I was a little kid, it is such a sad day for me. He was a true professional, awesome broadcaster. I'm going to miss hearing him call the races.

the best part I liked about him was "This is ESPN Speedworld, I'm your host Bob Jenkins"
but he did have an awesome career as an announcer, if I had a top 10 announcers, he'd be 3rd, right behind BP and Ned Jarrett respectively.

Sad to see him hanging up the mic. I'd put him my #3 behind BP at #2 and Ken Squirer at #1.

It's a real shame he's retiring. Him, BP, and Ned were the best combo ever.

Bob Jenkins was one of the best, I think he was miles better than Squire, best ESPN commentator ever, and really made NBC sports coverage of Indycar the best of any league. I just wonder how fast Marty Reid will replace him.

Implying Marty Reid can truly replace him at all.

I seem to hear that he said 'oh shit' in this.

For some reason I always confused Bob Jenkins and Mike Joy
It kinda sucks though, that all these guys I grew up watching and listening to are retiring. In just a few years, motorsports wont look anything like what I remember from childhood. The only active nascar drivers left (truly active ones) from that era, are Jeff Gordon, Mark Martin, Jeff Burton and Bobby Labonte. I suppose it's only a matter of time until they retire, as will announcers like Paul Page, Eli Gold, and Jerry Punch

He wasn't on air when he said shit.
But Bob was a veteran at his job and did a good job at it. He was one of the best leading commentators of NASCAR and did a great job covering Indycar coverage. He will be missed by long-time racing fans.

^What bartman said.
At least we'll still have Allen Bestwick in the booth for a long while. I can see Marty Reid replacing Bob Jenkins since he would commentate every indy car race when ABC used to cover the entire season, and he does not have much to do since Allen Bestwick took over his role and there are very few indy car races that ABC covers these days. I honestly don't think he'll move over to NBC though since he's been with ESPN for a long time, longer than some people think.

NBC sports will most likley take Reid now that ESPN ousted him from Nascar coverage, but he will never fill Bob Jenkins Shoes

I'd rather have Reid take over than Todd Harris. Reid might not be the best in the world at the job, but I can at least tolerate him. Harris made me want to stab my ears with knives.
