David Reutimann to Drive #93 in Daytona 500; Travis Kvapil in for Rest of Season
"David Reutimann will drive the No. 93 Toyota for BK Racing in the Daytona 500.
Todd Anderson, the former car chief at TRG, will serve as crew chief for the team. Travis Kvapil will take over the driving duties in the No. 93 Toyota at Phoenix for the March 4 Sprint Cup race.
Reutimann, 41, most recently signed on to drive for Tommy Baldwin Racing last month. He will race the No. 10 Chevrolet in the races not piloted by Danica Patrick. Reutimann spent the past five seasons with Michael Waltrip Racing. He has posted two wins in 171 career Cup starts — MWR’s only victories to date.
“I was definitely starting to think that I wasn’t going to get to run the Daytona 500, but that doesn’t seem to be the case,” Reutimann said. “Daytona is such a huge deal. Everyone says it pays the same amount of points and blah, blah, blah. But it’s my home track and I didn’t know how I was going to take sitting on the sidelines. That place is pretty special to me. I’m really excited about running that race.”
Kvapil, 35, won the 2003 truck championship. He has 175 Cup starts. His best season was with Yates Racing in 2008, when he scored four top-10 finishes and won the pole for the fall Talladega race.
BK Racing also announced last week that Landon Cassill will drive the No. 83 Toyota, starting in Daytona."

Credit to FoxSports. I'm surprised by this decision to go with Reutimann, but, I'm not surprised that Kvapil will drive for most of the season.
I'm even more surprised, though, that they didn't get Brian Vickers. I wonder where he'll go.....Probably N'Wide.

I believe BV was offered the ride but rejected it because he is a dumbass.

Man, that's just sad. He was offered a ride for the year in Cup, and turned it down? For what? He thinks there's a top-tier Cup team still looking for a driver for the season? I don't think so. This means he'll probably run N'Wide. He may find some Daytona 500 ride, but, probably won't find a Cup ride this year. He's had his chances, but, he blew them.

Either that or he wants to go the Stremme route -- be a big fish in a small pond and go to Nationwide and run for that championship instead of run 20th in Cup. That line of thinking has helped some careers out immensely.
Just ask Ron Hornaday and Johnny Sauter.

I believe that it was because they did not have the money to pay Vickers the amount he wanted.

Don't see the point of having Reutimann for 1 race then have Kvapil for the rest of the season unless Kvapil has a ride for the 500. They're throwing away any chance (albeit fairly slim) of getting into the chase.

I can live with that. Most of his top achievements of his career are in Nationwide, including the 2003 championship. That goes great his two fluke wins in Cup, and his dishonor of having the worst Chase of all time.
