Painting on the V8 Indycar Mod

Ok, here's my situation. I want to attempt to paint my cars for the open wheel non-canon series that f1fan is running (I posted a paint request and never got a response). So, I want to attempt to try and paint them myself.

So, I have a couple of questions:
1. What is the best paint program to use for a beginner? (I've never painted anything, not even a logo).
2. Is it best to watch a tutorial on the program or just follow the written tutorial it has?

Still need a car painted?

Depends on what you like. Some are easy, some cost, some are free.

It is easier to learn a bit faster if you watch a video tutorial. Need some links, let me know.
