TUMS Fast Relief 500 - Sprint Cup Series Empty TUMS Fast Relief 500 - Sprint Cup Series

Post by BBoy Tue Oct 25, 2011 11:42 am

We're now past Talladega, which potentially may have decided the Chase, and heading off to Martinsville! History be told that Jimmie Johnson and Denny Hamlin have been the most dominant drivers at this track since 2006. However earlier this season, Kevin Harvick would be the one in victory lane. Will we see something like this happen again? Can Carl Edwards hold on to his championship lead on a track where out of the 14 races here, he has only 1 top 5, 4 top 10's, and an average finish of 16.9?

Go-or-Go Homers (Now that Travis Kvapil (#38) is locked in, Hermie Sadler (#71) will have to qualify his way into the race.)

7 - Reed Sorenson
30 - David Stremme
37 - Mike Skinner
46 - Scott Speed
55 - JJ Yeley
66 - Michael McDowell
71 - Hermie Sadler
75 - Derrike Cope (DNQ) (Surprisingly didn't withdraw.)
77 #1 - Robby Gordon
77 #2 - Andy Lally (according to Jayski.com, usually if both drivers (Gordon and Lally) make the race, the one higher in owners points gets to run the number and the other team has to use a different number.)
87 - Joe Nemechek
92 - Dennis Setzer (DNQ)

I've always been fond of Martinsville, maybe it's the history, or just the idea of 43 cars speeding along in such a small space. It's just a really fun track for me. Anyway, it's a little early to be picking a winner at the moment, but as it stands, I'd have to go with either Denny Hamlin (based on past performance) or, as much as I hate saying this, Jimmie Johnson (he's had crap luck in the past few races, so he'll be driving harder than ever this time around). Also, I didn't even know Dennis Setzer attempted Cup races. Maybe I'm just really oblivious. ANYWHO...

Looking forward to Sunday, let's go Labonte! Cool

This is the make or break race for Jimmie's title hopes. If he leaves Martinsville still a full-race behind Edwards (or whoever is the points leader after), he's done. 'Cause I really don't see anything big happening at Texas, Phoenix, or Homestead.

As far as the race, Hamlin and Johnson are clear favorite, but I wouldn't count out Jr., Kyle Busch, or Harvick. Jr. historically has run well here, Busch had a great run in the spring, and of course, Harvick won the spring race.

Because of rain, qualifying was washed out, although they could've just moved practice and qualifying to after the Truck race imo.

Carl Edwards is the pole sitter as to the NASCAR rulebook, and the 2 cars that DNQ'd were Dennis Setzer and Derrike Cope.

Lots of failure in this one boys.

Vickers proving why he doesn't belong in Cup, Junior proving why he is one of the worst drivers in field today and a lot of other drivers driving like a just tools in general.

Wasn't a bad race....More pissed that Junior f***** Keselowski over driving like an absoluite tool. GW Tony as he proves he is the most dominant driver in the chase.

For anybody that didn't believe Jimmie was done, This pretty much reinforce the fact he's done.

Ves, Vickers was a complete tool bag today. Goes back to my comment from yesterday's truck race. It's one thing to bump, bang, and race, it's also one thing to get mad, and maybe want to throw a few fists around afterwords. If all that happens, hey, fine, cool, but a race car or truck should NEVER be used as a weapon.
