Indycar/USAC driver Bryan Clauson in Critical Condition
I didn't see a topic about it, but Indy 500 veteran and USAC midget ace Bryan Clauson was involved in a terrible accident on the dirt track last night and had to be airlifted to the hospital. Tonight he is in critical condition according to his family. I hope this ends as well as possible. Thoughts to Bryan and his family.

Would also be worth mentioning how MRN royally fucked up during the broadcast of today's Watkins Glen Cup race by announcing that Bryan had passed and then rescinding the announcement some 10 minutes later. I hope someone at the MRN camp gets fired for that. You should never state something as gospel when it hasn't been 100% authenticated, much less when the information is just a goddamn Twitter rumor.
As for the accident, this must be the third or fourth season in a recent memory where a big name has been critically injured in a Sprint car. It's easy to say that accidents like this are a part of racing, but it's...problematic when it's seemingly happening in one form of racing more than others. That's where the question arises, "Can you prevent it?", and honestly, I don't know. I myself have limited knowledge of Sprint car racing, so I don't want to jump to any conclusions.

Hope Clauson will be alright, i've seen the wreck and it was a nasty hit to the cockpit. Not the kind of hit you want in any car.

Keep all who were close to him in your thoughts. I cannot imagine what this must be like for those who knew him as family and as a friend.
I remember Dave Despain calling the Chili Bowl this January and explaining Clauon's "Circular Insanity" campaign that he would attempt to complete in 2016. From sprint cars to stock cars to the Indianapolis 500, if the variety of racing disciplines that he took on doesn't show you how much that this man loved racing, the fact that he aspired to compete in 200 races in one year does. This was truly his passion.
Rest in peace, Bryan Clauson.

RIP Bryan, Another guy who seem to find his footing in sprint/midget cars, apparently he was 38 for 117 wins wise in his 200 race thing this year including winning one just shortly after running in the Indy 500.
Sad stuff.

I lost Allan Simonsen 2013 Le Mans fatal crash, lost Justin Wilson August last year Pocono flying debris he was the 2012 Rolex winning driver at Michael Shank Racing, and now lost Bryan Clauson who was talented racer in his own right. It hurts. My heard is shattered. My thoughts are with Clauson's fiancé Lauren Stewart and the rest of the Clauson family as I she'd tears from my eyes
