Ryan Long Stuns Garage with Fantastic Road Course Debut
While the race may have been dominated by Cassandra Collins, the story of the race was a lawyer turned racecar driver stunning the field with a fantastic 5th place qualifying effort and a very respectable 11th place finish.
In a very difficult track condition, Ryan surprised everyone by holding his own against some of the best that NAAC could offer.
""The track was very challenging to deal with" Ryan started. "It was very slippery, it was very hot, windy, everything about the race was challenging.
I just crept along just trying to keep the car clean and keep it on the racing surface. I didn't expect this kind of success though."
The underdog operation put a performance that had not been seen by the team since 2016.
"This is a very promising sign" Tony Long started. "I believed that the cars we can build are very good for the road courses and having Ryan put this kind of showing in shows what we can produce on the perfect day."
When asked about what he thought about his season, Ryan stated, "I am having a lot more fun than I expected but you will not hear me complaining anytime soon."

- Master Sport Motorsports is failing to make any waves in an attempt at a NAAC career
For the fourth race in a row, Katyen Scurrel has failed to qualify in her #23 Cheerwine Nova. Her team owner, Alexa Lake is none too pleased with Scurrel not qualifying, but Lake has not done much of anything even with Lake qualifying for three races in her very limited starts.
Alexa Lake would qualify and capitalize early in the race on several wrecks and was looking at her best finish at Lake Afton, but while running in 12th place, she would lose an engine and fall out of the race. That is the extent of MSM's weekend at Lake Afton.

The 2018 NAAC Launch Energy Championship Series trail has barely begun, but already important news are popping into view. To begin with, it has been known multiple teams are regularly failing to qualify. While this was not an issue in the past season, especially after the provisional adoption of the duel format, the amount of cars entered and expected to enter all race weekends is expected to float between 50 and 60 cars.
According to a source within the North American Auto Club Board of Officials, series president Paul Martin is growing increasingly angrier with such weekend format, and has sucessfully pulled for the council to pass the rule where even teams that fail to qualify get a portion of the purse money, decision taken in the offseason.
"Martin is definitely pissed with the fact that we simply have far too many teams and too little of a space, but he isn't angry with the teams, nor with the other officials, he said he is angry that he took the decision to maintain single-race weekends. The man is so harsh on himself, but it's pretty easy to understand where he comes from. He formed the whole series to give teams a viable option of national, low-cost racing. I'm not being a shill for the guy because I'm not fond of him a lot. But you have to admire how much he cares for the teams" - said the source, who asked to only be identified by its function as part of the NAAC Board of Officials.
A team owner from the Teams' Council has expressed that the council has unanimously voted for the purse rule, mostly because "the bulk of the purse money doesn't come from teams that apply to races, the entry costs around $1000 to $2000 dollars, and part of that money already returns to the owner if they don't qualify, the purse the cars that take part in the race get is mostly provided by the sponsors of the series and the race, so the cash that goes to the teams that don't qualify comes from their entries anyway, it sounds stupid and counter-productive, but overall it's far better than what a few series do, and gives us team loyalty and stability for the future."
Another anonymous coucil team owner expressed a similar view: "The purse for non-qualifiers is fiscally dumb, butgiven it isn't the only source of purse money, it's stable, and knowing how hard these guys work, it's bizzare how most of them don't make it into the race, but everyone has to cut some type of cost at the end of the day, failing to qualify may be a blessing in disguise sometimes. The race cars cost around 40k brand new, if you fail to qualify for all of your races as a full-time car, you get around 10k back by itself, not counting sponsorship, so it's a somewhat viable system in the end."
The source we contacted has disclosed that the sanctioning body plans to release their 2019 directives to the general public after the Championship Series is done with its Canadian races (after July 8th at the earlist), and each series is supposed to have a change that will radically modify racing. Apparently, most, if not all teams have already been informed of what those changes will be, but have been kindly asked to not speak about it and already prepare financially for it.

Master Sport Motorsports will make a return in 2019
A fair bit has been announced at MSM headquarters on what the team plans to do after the 2018 season.
So far, Master Sport Motorsports' 2018 season has gone miserably as Katyen Scurrel has not made a race yet, and Alexa Lake who is part-time is barely making races and getting points.
The team plans to upgrade to a three-car team. One will be full-time, another will race half the season, and the third car will appear for special events and four others.
"I do believe that we have a shot to go somewhere in NAAC. We haven't had the best season, merely because our Novas lack refinement and are slow, but with a bit more, I could see us being contenders. That's all to matter whether or not we will get that far in a year's time." Alexa Lake stated in a press release.

Long Family Autosport to Return for 2019, Switching Schedules
The 2019 NAAC season will look similar for Long Family Autosport in 2018. Ryan and Tony Long will both return in 2019 but however, due to a recent run in of cases that have been brough to Ryan, Ryan will partake in a part time schedule while Tony will takeover full-time duties.
Tony Long is making the switch back to NAAC after leaving Dash Cup after the 2017 season and returning to the states looking for other opportunities.
"I figured that I would not stay in Europe for too long" Tony stated. "I did enjoy my time over in Dash Cup but with the situation surrounding that series, we decided to pull the team from Dash Cup and move it back to the states. If an opportunity arises to return to Dash Cup for a one-off somewhere for someone, I would definitely consider the offer."
"I am personally not upset by the switch" Ryan began. "I can't control how many cases get put on my desk and I have a gotten a massive influx recently that is really turning me away from racing. I am not going away from the track permanently, I am just not going to be there as often."
Ryan will continue piloting the New York University 191 while Tony will continue is his familiar 919 car.

After a "pathetic" 2017, according to member of the own team, Ashcroft Family Racing has finally put its flagship car in the victory lane, as Thomas Tucker captures his first win for the team, third of his career, as he previously triumphed at Quincy and Alberta for the HQS Racing outfit. Team owner Jack Ashcroft was ectsatic with the result: "We did everything we were pushing for, it was a great race, Tommy did a fantastic job and deserved the win, I am very proud of him and only better things can come out of this...".
This victory places him in the championship lead, showing Ashcroft Family Racing is back with a vengeance as they also get the Teams Championship lead.
Marcus Stanton livid with lap 15 incident
"If people can't see a foot ahead of them, then they shouldn't be racing here, and this came from a former champion, Jack should consider retiring"
said a very angry Marcus Stanton, after a severe accident wiped out the #39 car of Andrew Attwood and the #22 of Riley McKee flipping. "And don't get me wrong, Andrew is as much as in fault as Jack is, difference is Andy is in his first year, he is still learning. Patterson should know better", added Stanton, as the #39 sent the #22 flipping, then got struck by the #14, which sent it over. All drivers involved were cleared by the medical centre.

- Tucker hails Ashcroft Family Racing for "never say die" attitude after win
It's been an up and down tenure at the iconic Ashcroft Family Racing for Thomas Tucker, but he finally earned himself a victory as he took the lead on lap 51, and never looked back, leading 86 laps in a dominating performance. Tucker had not qualified well, but quickly found his way to the front after early cautions marred the race.
This is Tucker's third career win, but his first with Ashcroft Family Racing, after earning two wins with HQS Racing previously. The win also puts Tucker on top of the standings a quarter of the way into the 20 race season.
"We were real fast, but my Q lap let me down," said Tucker, "so I knew we could do something special this weekend. Car just was great off the bat, and our team never gives up. Things might not have gone our way last year, but this year we have made sure they do. Hopefully this is the first of many to come with this team!"
Tucker previously won in the FARC ranks with the team, victorious in the 2016 Rookie Shootout, but he had yet to replicate such success in the NAAC series until today.
Atkins credits team despite slow start
HQS Racing have had a fairly slow start to the season, with Cassandra Collins' good form being the only reason for their decent rank in the Teams Championship, but Ben Atkins insists there is nothing to worry about after Milwaukee.
There were small signs of hope for the team as McKee took the pole for the event, and Lexie Percy led laps early on in the event, but McKee ended his race the wrong way up after a lap 15 incident seen him and Andrew Attwood roll over on the frontstretch, and Percy's car faded, leading to a 11th place finish.
"The speed is there, the luck isn't. It was much like last year, honestly." said Atkins, "We are getting better. Cassie's win at Lake Afton proved what we are capable of, but I don't think the luck is there with Riley and I think Lexie is still a little bit timid inside the car. Time will be the deciding factor for these guys and I can safely say I'm optimistic."
There have been rumors recently surfacing of Atkins making a comeback to the series next year, but he was quick to shoot them down.
"My daughter is still only a few months old. I definitely want to take her to victory lane one day, but I don't think it's that time yet."
As well as commenting on his own future, he has also spoke out about his wife's future with some surprising news.
"I would be very surprised if Hannah returns. She's content with what she's done in her career. She's probably a future Dash Cup hall-of-famer and that's enough for her. She's happy being a full-time mother!"

She will return with her #36 Binco CM Nova. She will also have a specialty scheme to be decided on later in the year.
William Brock, the Georgian native has been recruited and welcomed to the team and he will drive the #12 Alltel machine. It will also have a special SunTrust scheme full-time.
The #67 car will be driven by 20 year old Kenny Allan Keither of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. His sponsor will be Camping World.

Despite the lap 5 wreck eliminating Thomas Tucker from the Holihel Amber Ale 175 at the Grand Detour Raceway of Western Illinois, Ashcroft Family Racing's mechanics stayed unfazed,
as Kelly Ashcroft and Boyd Abbott worked their way forward, with Abbott achieving 15th place and Kelly Ashcroft winning her first race of the year.
The 2014 Champion was all smiles in Victory Lane: "We did everything we set ourselves to do,
Thomas raised the bar at Milwaukee, so we figured out we had to give 110% to win this one,
and I'm glad this was the case."
The win puts Ashcroft in 6th place, 33 points off Championship Leader Jamaal Schmidt total of 118 marks.

Genesis Racing confirms 2019 Plans, however no set rounds have been announced.

Despite the four incidents involving its cars, Ashcroft Family Racing has won for the third consecutive time in the 2018 season of NAAC Championship Series racing. Despite that,
the cost was high, as the race ending caution involved three of the four cars of the team,
as contact between Thomas Tucker and Kelly Ashcroft involved Charlie Smith with 5 laps to g.
While the team retained the win, tempers flared on the pits while Tucker celebrated before going into Victory Lane: a small "pushing around" incident involving the crew chief of the #9,
Jeff Scott, Kelly Ashcroft, the crews of the #1 and #09 teams happened, while team owners Jack and Tom Ashcroft attempted to separate everyone.
Kelly Ashcroft was visibly mad, and even got some bruises on her lip stemming from an incident coming out of her car, in which she fell face first on the ground: "I was coming off the ****** car too hot, wasn't able to take my foot off quick and fell square on my face" said Kelly, 2014 Series Champion. About the incident she had this to say: "Tom (Tucker) and I have a good chemistry and over the radio he apologized, but the fault isn't his, but after the race his crew chief made some remarks I'm not too comfortable with and confronted him about it, I was red hot and I wasn't gonna let him come off that cheap."
"Tom (Ashcroft) had a talk with all our drivers before Tommy came into Victory Lane, so they are alright, nobody is angry with no one, the crews got a bit too angry though, I had a bit of ear-pulling session with them, because that was unsportsmanlike from them and I'd expect and accept a penalty for the incident itself. But unfortunately those were racing incidents that happened to involve all of us, sometimes bad things happen to good people while they're in a good mood and it gets gloomy quick, thankfully we were still ahead when that happened and we took a win to prove it." said 4-time Series Champion Jack Ashcroft, co-owner of the team.
Series president Paul Martin had a small note about the matter: "None of those incidents are deemed intentional, so I doubt any penalties for the crashes will come, but the mess in the pitlane will have to be at least a fine, because such incident is unknown amongst crews, it was at an scale where someone could've gotten really hurt and this is not what the North American Auto Club is about."
The next chapter of this story may be far from over as the series heads into race 8 of 20 at Mid-Ohio.
Steve Gareth "saddened" by incident, but won't fire Young
In the most controversial incident of the year and maybe of NAAC's short history, Kristen Young got suspended for 10 races, got a $10,000 fine and received a 50 point penalty after an intentional crash onto championship leader Lucy Barnton, possibly costing Barnton the race win.
Team owner Steve Gareth was visibly distressed by the incident and expressed his feeling on the post-race interview: "I don't know why that happened, we don't know what could've set it off, and I don't think Kristen had any condition that'd make her go crazy for the moment, so I can't seem to give you all a reason for it, because I have none either". When questioned if he'd fire Young after the incident, Gareth said: "Despite that, I still trust Kristen's abilities as a driver, it's unfortunate that this may tarnish her and our reputation, but I was the driving force onto getting her on track for this season and I simply trust her too much to simply let her go."

Ryan Long Stuns Paddock with 1st Career Top 10
While the NAAC Launch Energy Series race at the Indianapolis Raceway Park will be remembered for the controversy surrounding the race, Long Family Autosport, and more specifically Ryan Long, will view the race in a much more positive manner.
It was a race of first's for Ryan as for the first time in his very young career, he out qualified his younger brother Tony and he claimed his first career top 10 finish with a 9th place effort. Ryan survived a chaos filled race to find himself running near the front alongside fellow rookies Carter Fitzgerald and Flannery Moore and grizzled veterans like the Ashby's, Thomas Tucker, and many others.
"I never thought this kind of success would come this soon" Ryan stated. "I can't hold much of a candle to my younger brother's driving career but I think this performance will give me something to go with."
While Ryan Long is still considered a major longshot to steal the rookie of the year, fans and fellow drivers can't deny that he has shown a flash of talent for a racing career. Long Family Autosport has one of the smaller budgets in the series but they have shown their fellow competitors that they can hold their own.
"Personally, I would love to see us get up closer to the front but we will need a lot of help to do that" Tony Long commented. "It would eventually be nice to be more competitive with Ernest Lewis, HQS, MAM, and Ashcroft but I think if the front runners trip over themselves more often, a top 5 would not be as crazy as I originally thought."

HQS Racing continued to show their strengths at Mid-Ohio as this week, it was Lexie Percy's turn to take home a victory in a fantastic defensive drive that saw her hold off a charge from Connie Brooks in the closing laps to win by just a couple of tenths. Percy had not had the best of starts in the series, scoring only one top 10 in the series; a third place finish the race before at Indianapolis Raceway Park, but her win now sees her propel herself well into the top 10 in points.
HQS teammate Cassandra Collins is also still in the top 10 in points, mainly as a result of her own road course win at Lake Afton, while Riley McKee's slow start to the season continues, as he is stuck in 27th in points, having yet to score a top 5 finish, leaving questions to be asked about the main driver at the team.
Today was about Lexie Percy, however, as she celebrated in victory lane with her team, as well as sister, Dash Cup champion Hannah Percy and team owner Ben Atkins, as well as Atkins and Hannah Percy's daughter, Ruby, in only her second appearance at a NAAC event.
"I really thought the 26 was going to get by." said Lexie Percy, teary-eyed from her victory, "But to get this opportunity... to go out and prove I can do this... it really means so much. I knew after our third last race at IRP that we could do something special but I never expected it to happen so soon! Hopefully this is the beginning of a charge at the title. I wasn't all that confident after our bad start to the season but now I realise that the sky's the limit, and I feel like we really can do this."
While Percy admitted that she did not always have faith in herself, team owner Atkins said that he always knew Percy was capable.
"A lot of people say I picked her for the car because she's my wife's sister but actually, I knew she had the talent to pull this off." said Atkins, "Lexie is a very good driver. I said a little while back that she was a little bit timid in the car but I knew once she got a good finish, her confidence would start building up. Her good finish at IRP really helped her, and now this win is going to do a lot for her."
"I'm not worried about Riley's performance at the moment. I think this year has been a bit of a rough transition for him, but again, as I did with Lexie, I have all the faith in the world in him. He'll find his feet soon."
Atkins was also asked about the recent rumours about him returning to racing with a full time effort at the NAAC championship in 2019, to which he simply smiled and answered "wait and see."

Ryan Long Gets Another Top 15
For the lawyer turned racecar driver, Ryan Long has done an amazing job keeping his cars very clean and picking up great performances. At Mid-Ohio, Ryan came back from a 34th qualifying spot to finish 14th, which was good enough to be the biggest improvement position wise in the field.
"This has just been a great season for me" Ryan began. "I didn't expect to have this many good showings in such a short amount of time."
The small operation has used the phrase "slow but steady" to put on strong performances for a midfield team.
"It is obvious that the success we are having is surprising to everyone" Tony Long stated. "I do think that we can score a top-5 some time this season, I have a 7th and my brother has a 9th so...who knows."
The North American Auto Club Launch Energy Series takes the turn up to Canada to begin the Canadian tour.

TORONTO, ONTARIO – Since the announcement of the press conference back in May, the eyes of the Racing world had been turned in NAAC’s direction, and now everything that has been alluded to comes to light, to start with, the series will have a new look for the 2020 season with the current composite body and engine package being replaced by brand new ones.
According to NAAC President Paul Martin, the intention is for even further cost containment: “We developed these bodies together with X-Auto Race Car bodies, and what can I say, they’re pretty strong and durable, the mounting process is also different, which will allow teams to save more money and work hours in the long run, as the panels for this new cars are easily removable in the garage. (The engine) package was an option we took to replace the engine package that had been used since 2008 in APRS-PART, teams were spending a lot to produce these, and we now have a new, cheaper engine package, which we are certain will lower the bar of competition and make racing safer not just for the drivers, but the guys in the shop.”
The bodies visually resemble street cars, with easily identifiable front-ends, they’re also slightly shorter than its current counterpart. X-Auto Race Car Bodies representative Amber Wallace spoke about the body: “We at X-Auto are very proud of this car, we wasted no research time to get this right, we got a few complaints from the current body and we worked based off those complaints and grievances and we now bring a more aesthetically pleasing body, which you can identify the manufacturer far easier than with the current one. We are extremely proud of what we got with this body”.
The engine program is being designed and built by Core Racing Engineering (CRE), being called the CRE 396, a 700-horsepower, 396 C.I. Engine which according to CRE representatives will last up to 2000-miles until it needs to be refreshed. The package itself apparently has been proven to be slower in tests, averaging a drafting speed of 185 mph at a closed test at the Talladega Superspeedway.
In the announcement the expected costs were also revealed. The composite body will cost $6500 by itself and most teams will buy at least 3-5 bodies to go through the year, while the engine will be $30,000 brand new, through the season at least one refresh will be required to keep its competitivity, making the total cost of running a full-season in 2020 around $70,000, which is $30,000 less than 2018-2019 and $50,000 less than the inaugural season in 2017.

TORONTO, ONTARIO – The same conference in which the 2020 car and engine was unveiled, the series published its schedule for the 2019 season, with radical changes which had been rumored since the start of the season: The return of the Duel System, formation of the Prestige Crown and the decrease of the race field to 32 cars from 36.
The calendar will also get expanded to 24 events. Championship Series Senior Race Director Landon Ross declared about the format changes: “We had too many cars with potential to win that would otherwise be shafted out of any spot in the races. We so many guys that could win races, but never qualified and it was something we couldn’t afford to lose, this series was built in the trust of teams and drivers, and not letting them into races to display their full potential.”
In a video published in northamericanautoclub.com explained the format, which will be as it follows: 64 Cars start both races, 32 in Race A, 32 in Race B. Entry List doesn’t have a limitation to it. Teams that aren’t running full-time will go through a Pre-Qualifying Session, in which the Top 4 will be allowed to contest Qualifying. The field will be defined as it follows: Race A will have the odd-numbered qualifying positions, while Race B will have the even-numbered positions.
The calendar was unveiled presenting 24 weekends, with a total of 44 races being contested. A new introduction to the calendar is the Prestige Crown, admittedly based off FARC’s Master Spark 4-Crown, said NAAC President Paul Martin: “It was a format that seemed to fit our series very well, we have four marquee races, those being the season opener and ender, the road race at Watkins Glen and The Night Before The Indianapolis 500. It just made sense to elevate those races with the Double Points and Extended Fields.”.
The composition of the calendar also changes, with an increased focus in the Northeast, according to NAAC Operations Manager Leah Chambers it was at a request from promoters and teams: “The teams in The Council, drivers, and tracks were willing to go back to the northeast, to revisit our roots in this series, which I am glad was so unanimous between everybody.”
Tracks returning to the calendar after not being present in the first two seasons of the NAAC are the USA International Speedway, Road Atlanta, Decatur Raceway, Sanair Super Speedway, Mosport International Raceway, Oxford Plains Speedway, Stafford Motor Speedway, Road America and Dover International Speedway, while Beltsville makes its first appearance in series history after being reopened earlier this year, as the Minnesota State Fairgrounds and the Barrie Speedway make their series debuts.
“I love what we have for the series, it’s truly a return to our roots, especially with our lower levels also going towards the American northeast, which is something we’ve been working on slowly since the series got announced, and now we truly think we have hit a sweet spot between teams, drivers and the management”, said Paul Martin, mentioning the revamp the Super Late Model and Canadian Late Model series will partake in the offseason, using composite bodies of their own, resembling pre-split NAAC cars.

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK – Following the announcement of the new body for the NAAC Championship Series, representatives of Inglesby and Calton-Morel announced the manufacturers will be backing out of the sport following this season, citing both performance and lack of teams interested in their engine programs.
In the press release, Calton-Morel management cited the lack of teams willing to use its program, turning the program unviable for the time being, while Inglesby representatives cited the lack of performance by its teams, taking the blame for the slower pace of the Inglesby backed teams in this first half of the season.
However, while Calton-Morel management refused to comment on a potential return, Inglesby’s press release did not rule out a possible return under the right circumstances, which means this might be just a sabbatical for one of the Big 3 American manufacturers, alongside Saar and Lenard.

TORONTO, ONTARIO – The NAAC also unveiled big changes for the Master Spark Super Late Model Tour and the Argyle Canadian Late Model Championship. “To start with, we are changing to a spec composite model, as we want to phase late model racing to the lower ASTRA tours, which has been a great talent farm, so we want to improve that, while allowing the second division of NAAC to retain somewhat of a similarity to the Championship Series cars, truly turning the sanctioning body into its own parallel ladder.” said President Paul Martin.
The Super Late Models will end its partnership with Master Spark at the end of 2019, but begins another with Epps in 2020 and changes its name to All-Star Series, being divided in North and South divisions, alongside the Argyle Canadian Championship. Each series will have 12 events across the year, and after that trail is done, the top 12 drivers in each series will contest the Empire State 300, a special non-points event for bragging rights between the divisions.
The spec composite models will have 6 different manufacturer identities, with Saar, Lenard, Nemoto, Lycoia, Xenos and Juneau providing the decals for the cars, as Juneau and Xenos are exclusive to the Canadian Sportsman Series, while Nemoto and Lycoia will only be used by All-Star Series teams.

It was a fairly successful race for both Lucy Barnton and Lexie Percy, as Barnton scored a top 10 finish and Percy scored a 20th place finish despite a tire failure before the halfway point in the race, but the words exchanged between the two post-race after an accident between the two were not as positive as their displays today.
Percy allegedly went to see Barnton after the race to initially apologise for the event, but the situation escalated quickly after Barnton ignored the 18-year-old's apology, before snapping back at Percy. The two argued for a short while before crew members of the 98 team, as well as HQS Racing driver Riley McKee calmed the situation down.
"I went over to apologise and she just flat ignored me, then she asked what my problem was" said Lexie Percy, "I just told her I messed up and she was just being sarcastic with me, and after having a top 5 run go away from me, I just wasn't in a mood to hear that, so I snapped back. Not usually like me to do that but it's just so arrogant to not even be willing to talk about it. I don't care if she accepts the apology or not, but at least have the courtesy to acknowledge that I'm trying, y'know?"
"I don't really care for her apology. She wouldn't have ran through me if she really gave a damn" said Barnton, "She probably thinks she's good after her lucky win last week and thinks she can do whatever she wants. I'm not about that. I've been run into enough times in this series."

- Ben Atkins Announces Full-Time Comeback in 2019 NAAC Season
Ben Atkins is set to come out of retirement to drive the #20 Red Bull/Federated Auto Parts SAAR for the team he formerly owned, HQS Racing, for the entirety of the 2019 NAAC Season. With the format changes coming up for 2019, HQS Racing announced after the Canadauto 200 that they would be expanding to four cars, retaining Riley McKee and Lexie Percy for the next season, while Jacob Eichholtz would come on board with the team.
A week and a half later, in the lead up to the Les 60 Tour Argyle at Trois-Riveres, Ben Atkins announced during a HQS Racing press conference that he would be coming out of retirement, signing a two-year contract with HQS Racing in the NAAC Launch Energy Championship Series.
"I'm really excited about this opportunity to go for a NAAC championship." said Atkins, "The pressure of running the team and racing at the same time, as well as Hannah's pregnancy and a lot of other things got to me, and I needed a break, but I'm raring to come back!"
"I love the direction Connor Swift has taken this team. He's let me be as involved as I wanted at any time, which is really nice, but he's also developed Lexie [Percy] and Riley [McKee] into race-winning drivers. He lets me take care of the PR stuff too, since he hates that, but it works for me since I really quite enjoy it! Back on the original point, though, I'm excited to be a driver for this team once again, and I look forward to working closer with Connor in the next few years."
Over the press conference, Atkins was question about his wife, Hannah Percy's status on returning to racing.
"She's definitely a full-time mother, now. I think she's achieved what she wanted to over the last few years, and she's content in staying as a driver's wife. I don't think she'll mind me saying that she's probably set to stay retired for the foreseeable future."
Atkins is set to be attempting his first race since his Road America accident in 2017 next year at Homestead Miami Speedway for the Sunshine State 600K, but there is speculation he could be entering a major event before his set return.

- As the header states, Master Sport Motorsports, after an atrocious season all around has been declared "downsizing" after a small detail was leaked in a press release regarding their performance.
Alexa Lake, who piloted her #26 CM Nova for very thin amounts of starts and is the co-owner of Master Sport Motorsports mentioned when in a conference held shortly after the Four Corners race held in Toronto about her plans. She overestimated; she noted dutifully, but in sporadic clippets, that the team is "running out of money" and "will reserve for 2019."
Of course, shortly after those two leaks, she was bombarded with questions about what the team has planned for the remainder of the 2018 season. "Well," (and broken by a deep sigh, continued) "..I am afraid this team has far exceeded their expectations; shortly - we've joined and failed far too much as a team and I myself, as a driver. This team has done diddly-squat all year! Our "recruit" driver ditched after race three and did not return, and I made no mere mention of it. After the next few races, our sponsors we had scattered like cockroaches when a dim-lit light is turned int' a blaze." Another long sigh followed and furthermore, she continued "We're practically bankrupt. Our sponsors have left us, our reserve driver has left and here sit I, pondering how I even got this far. To cut it brief, Master Sport Motorsports will not be returning for 2019 - nor until I have succumbed the amount the debtors need from my pocket."
Not a stir was found...until Alexa Lake's mood lightened a bit. "There's an upswift in all this here...muddled chitchat, as you folk call it. Though this team won't be here next year, we still do have a contract with a team here that is yet to be seen - simply enough, I'll keep to myself a savings collection to use for this very brave, if psychotic gift from my best'a'friends, Manny Greene."
"I bankrupted my own team, yet he is still here to help me out. The team isn't returning, but he himself is starting up a small team with a young fellow who I haphazardly say, "Crazy Radcliff" - though, we tease each other too much."
"I don't intend to say too much more as it'll spoil everything Manny has planned. Do expect myself, however, ta' be a little bit more....cautiously optimistic. Or is it pess...pessimi..stic?"
Further details are to be noted on this new team - in brief, Manny Greene will make an appearance in the NAAC Argyle Canadian series and share a ride with wild, fast paced, crazy Canadian, Nicholas Radcliff. There will be a potential small fund set aside for either of the three drivers to attempt one or two races in NAAC's All-Star series, and very slimly a chance, at a one-race event for NAAC itself.

- Manny Greene starts up a team - (Line-up details at the end):
- Manny Greene, who is 31 years of age and a native of Mexico has joined with a small, relatively unknown driver of the name Nicholas Radcliff to hazard together a small team to run in both NAAC's main series (though half the season at best) and an attempt for the full time "starter" season in the Canadian Argyle Championship series as well as the All-Star series under NAAC's ownership.
Manny Greene, who even teamed up with the bankrupt team owner of Alexa Lake has figured out a schedule for the three attempts they will be making. "I'm new around here. I'm not the type of owner who will join and expend all of their material at once, (Alexa). However, I will try to get us at least started, so that there will be a shot at glory in years to pass. What I've got now is that I have tabbed Nicholas Radcliff to drive for our 1-car team in the Canadian Argyle series, while I try out, full-time with the Southern division of the All Star series. I will make one attempt to get something going for NAAC's Launch Energy series, but if that fails, I'm sticking to the lowers. If all goes accordin'ly, Alexa Lake, will drive for no more than half the length of the upper series (Launch Energy)."
A small pause followed, then Greene continued - "I have optimism towards this small team that we can go places if we can save enough of our money and keep this small team, goin' strong. See you all there!" The team has been officially dubbed as "Greene Flying Eagles" or "GFE"(pun included because the team isn't using the manufacturer of SAAR, which has a model of car dubbed "SAAR Eagle")

Launch Energy Entry: Alexa Lake (age 25), attempting no more than half the season with potential of Lenard or Lycoia on board and with the sponsor (at her offer), Cheerwine.

Despite a crash taking Thomas Tucker out of the lead, shoving him down to 18th place, 5 laps down, Ashcroft Family Racing did not miss the beat and won at Trois-Rivieres for the second year in a row, once again with Boyd Abbott.
About the incident that took Tucker into the tire barrier, following contact with Andrew Cross, Tom Ashcroft had this to say: "Those things happen, you can't always win every race, it was an accident, I talked to Thomas about it, sometimes you screw up but there's always another day."
On Abbott's win: "We trusted Boyd to have a strong showing here again, as he always does in road courses, and this win proves our trust in him, it was an amazing job by him regardless of how he took the lead."

Following the completion of the 10th race of 20 in the 2018 NAAC Launch Energy Championships Series Trail, NAAC Officials did a mid-season balance, pointing out the happenings of the year.
"So far the season has been fantastic, although some dents in our path did affect the overall quality of the season, like the IRP race, with was great until the halfway point, when it somewhat devolved, however driver did understand our grievances with that specific race and worked to improve it, despite a crashfest at Toronto as well, we can say the season has been a success so far." - said NAAC President Paul Martin.
About the 2019 expectations, NAAC President declared: "We changed the schedule to accomodate more short tracks and prestigious tracks that we did not feature recently, given it'll be the final year for this iteration of the bodystyle, we do expect a great showing by all teams contesting the season."

For the second time this season and first time since IRP, Ryan Long collected a top 10 finish as he finished 9th at Trois-Rivieres. Ryan made up 19 positions from the beginning of the race just missing out on the hard charger award.
"That was a very challenging race" Ryan stated. "The rain did not help my confidence at all in qualifying but the perseverance and confidence that the team has in me kept me in the game and we came away with another fantastic result."
Ryan Long has been one of the pleasant surprises for the North American Auto Club as he has been able to stay close in points in the rookie of the year battle with Tina Ashby, Kellan Rogers-Ashby, and Cassandra Colllins.
"They are very talented with very good equipment so to be able to just keep pace with Tina, Kellan, and Cassandra is wonderful" Ryan said. "I think many people wrote me off knowing my lack of experience and the equipment we have at Long Family Autosport but I think that Tony and I have shown that we are a force to be reckoned with even though we aren't winning races."

Racing For A Good Cause keeps Smith Jr, gets full time sponsor in Serene Records
For the first time in the team's existence Racing For A Good Cause will not run their pink scheme instead moving to the light blue of Serene Records, a Nashville based country label. The Breast Cancer Cure Center will still be on the car, but in a more subdued form. Allison Smith Jr. will still ride in the 427 Lenard for the 2019 season.

With a 9th place finish at New Hampshire, Ryan Griffin, driver of the #86 IDR machine, holds the point lead for the second consecutive race (3 points ahead of the #9). Despite the consistency out of the Michigan native (he has 9 top 10s in the 11 races run this season; the most among the top 10 in the championship standings), Griffin believes that he needs a race win to remain a serious competitor.
"I can't say enough about the effort this crew has given this season. This is great first half of the year for us. But, I really think we need to find victory lane here soon to remain where we are. You look at 9 and 55 who both can find victory lane on a consistent basis and that's our competition. If we want to stay where we are we have to get to victory lane I believe."

The North American Auto Club Launch Energy Series made its way to the New York Autoring superspeedway. In this rare occasion, both Long brothers qualified for the race. Ryan qualified 28th while Tony qualified 33rd.
"It was dismal in qualifying" Tony stated. "We didn't have much speed in qualifying but we were not worried about it. We put together some great cars and it showed during the race."
During the race, both Long brothers led at least a lap, Ryan only led for 1 but Tony led for 5 and Tony was able to hold the lead for a small portion of the race. Both Tony and Ryan showed tremendous speed for a small family operation. However, their luck would turn for the worse as both Long brothers crashed out not too far apart from each other.
With just 40 laps to go, Ryan found himself in a bad spot as he went 3 wide on the outside with Tammy Barnton and Jamaal Schmidt. Ryan, Tammy, and Jamaal all turned in to the inside wall eliminating Ryan and Tammy and ruining Jamaal's chance at the win.
"It was a pretty decent hit" Ryan said. "The fault can be placed on all of us for being too aggressive or what not but we were more worried about getting in position for the win."
While Ryan was more calm about his accident, Tony was in a different tone. Tony had run his strategy perfectly until 25 laps to go when he made contact with former Dash Cup rival Kellan Rodgers Ashby. Tony and Kellan had a very similar accident to Ryan, Tammy, and Jamaal only with 2 cars. After Tony's car stopped on the backstraight, Tony was very frustrated as he was seen pounding the roof of his car.
"I am furious because I had a car that was going to either win or get a top 5" Tony said with disdain. "My race gets ended while Kellan goes on to finish 6th or wherever. It is irritating because this is one of the few races where small teams have a chance to win and both superspeedway races I got involved in a crash that shouldn't have happened. If Ryan and I didn't get in separate incidents, we might have stolen the win."
NAAC makes its way to Walkins Glen to for the 15th race of the season.

HQS Racing ambassador Ben Atkins has said that the team were always going to win this weekend after their cars shown massive pace during the entire New York Autoring weekend, which ended with Riley McKee taking his first win of the season. McKee qualified for the race 24th but made his way to the front at the end to win the event over Andrew Cross and Danny Hamilton.
Other teams, such as Long Family Autosport, stated their disappointment at having their chances at a win struck out by bad luck, but Atkins has said that it was always meant to be for the team.
"I truly don't think any other team were going to win that race. I know Lexie and Cassie were setting up for the end of the race, but we never got to see how good Lexie's car really was because of her early crash, and Cassie could get to the front whenever she wanted but had the cut tire set her back. Riley waited until the end, but once he got the lead, no one could touch him."
"Sure, superspeedways are a great opportunity for an upset winner, but we've always had our cars dialled in for them. We're the best team when it comes to these big ovals. We always had some of the fastest cars in FARC on the superspeedways and we won in our first time out at Texas World with Tammy [Barnton]. I won my first attempt at Talladega in PART with the team, and we've come to NAAC and it continues."
A journalist went on to point out that HQS Racing did not score a top ten at Talladega, but that race was also fresh in Atkins' memory.
"Riley had a car that could lead laps on demand there too. He was stupid fast. He, as well as Cassie and Lexie, again, had bad luck that stopped us. If everything went right we would have won there too."
Even though he is slightly more muted about it, race winner Riley McKee also acknowledged the speed of the car today.
"Yeah, we had a very fast car, and I think we deserved to win it today." said McKee, "Our superspeedway package is definitely something else. We've been generally good all season. Just not had lady luck on our side, y'know? Only thing we can do is keep at it and see how it goes from here."
Next week, HQS Racing will be taking to Watkins Glen International, in hope of scoring their third road course win of the year.

The Pellerin's are back.
After running in Dash Cup and other events in Europe in the past few years, Rebecca and Luc Pellerin are returning to their family owned team, Lucstar Motorsports. With help from Ernest Lewis Racing, they'll be running alonside team veteran Cade Taylor.
Rebecca won her first career Dash Cup event in 2017, in race 2 of the Finland event. The former title contender will return to her iconic #27 Saar, with backing from A&W Restaurants.
Luc, a 3 time winner in Dash Cup, will return to his iconic #88, with help from Tim Horton's.
Cade Taylor will return to the #25, Taylor Candy, Saar.
Ernest Lewis Racing downsizing to 3 cars.
With the new deal with partner Lucstar Motorsports, ELR will downsize from their usual 4 cars to 3. With the 88 going to LSM, and Rebecca taking her iconic 27. Megan McDonald will run the 34, while Lee Schmidt keeps the 43 and Jamaal is in his 55. NAPA will be sponsoring all 3 cars in 2019.
This leaves Emilie Potvin without a ride. With a decent season going in the lower divisions, the major rumor is she would be taking a 2nd ride along with sponsorship to Ike Durbin Inc. As of time of this writing, this has not been confirmed.

One thing that Long Family Autosport has a knack of doing is having poor qualifying efforts but coming back in the race and surprising the field. Waterbury Park was no different as Ryan Long carried the flag for the small team to finish 6th in a crash filled race.
"Everyone wouldn't stop wrecking each other" Ryan stated. "I just watched everyone take each other out and at the end, I end up finishing 6th. I don't get it either!"
With the race filled with crashes, Ryan managed to keep his nose clean for the whole race, missing several crashes and avoiding the big one near the middle of the race. Even though he came close to being involved in a couple of incidents, he was able to avoid every incident that happened in front of him.
"His development has been amazing" Tony Long said. "He does a great job just keeping the car in 1 piece, running as many laps as possible, and he picks up these great results. I believe this is his 3rd or 4th top 10 of the season and he almost got a top 5. I am a little saddened knowing he won't be able to run the full season next year but he has done a fantastic job regardless."

End of NAAC competition for RMR
Rocky Mountain Racers will shut up shop at the end of the 2018 season due to poor results. The team cited the lack of consistency as a key motivation in selling all assets and winding up operations. RMR has been competing in the NAAC since 2015 with little success.
H2 Motorsports announces 2019 plans
H2 Motorsports will continue on with two cars in 2019. Johnson Clapp will bring his wealth of FARC experience to the #63 car replacing Brittany Henderson and bringing sponsorship from Caterpillar while Master Spark driver Cole Franklin will be promoted to the renumbered #73 team with new sponsor Ripcurl and associate sponsorship from Boost Mobile.
The Master Spark operation will also return, with Esme Thomas coming over from the closing Rocky Mountain Racers to drive the #10 Sun-Drop car while Kellie Henderson continues in the unsponsored #16.
