Johannson thrilled with runner-up finish, walks with head high exiting IRP

Patrick Johannson led for 66 of the 150 laps around the Indianapolis Raceway Park for the Super Series event, but didn't come up with a W despite easily taking out most laps led. Is he upset about that? Perhaps a bit disappointed, but not at all upset.

"I guess I should be lucky I didn't blow up under that curse!" Johannson jested with the media alluding to the "curse" haunting the 2nd-place running drivers all night. "Justin [Slade] had the better car and in the end, that's what gets you wins. We had a fantastic car and it was just another short track to me. I felt super comfortable in practice; like I'd done a thousand laps around the place even though I've never been here. IDI doesn't get enough credit for the job they do. The pit crew, the reliability, power under the hood, everything from the chassis out and the people puttin' it all together are top-notch. They're a big reason why I did so well tonight and I've got full faith that we're gonna come out with a trophy if the cards all fall right. Tonight was the 1 team's night, though. He put up a hell of a fight and we didn't have anything for him in those last laps, so congrats to him and we'll try to get in his shoes next time." With that, he flashed that optimistic, contagious smile and was dismissed with all the pride in his body on his firesuit.

Despite not being in the first race, Johannson sits 18th in points. His future right now is unclear as IDI may be undergoing changes this upcoming offseason and a deal has yet to be struck between him and them regarding his future.
