After a truly terrible showing at Carbondale, PWRT driver Alan Cavagnaro has been sacked by the team, effective immediately. This comes after a heated team meeting involving team-mate Johnson Clapp, who was run into by Cavagnaro during the race and PWRT bosses Edward Summers and Rex Williamson.

Cavagnaro's trouble began right from the outset, forced one lap down due to hitting the wall. He then saw it fit to wreck Clapp and then further to this, was involved in a three wide situation that caused the massive wreck of Caution 5. Cavagnaro retired due to the incident.

Team-mate Clapp commented on the sacking, "To be honest, I'm glad he's gone. I mean, he's shown real poor driving out there today in the race. Why run into Glanville after wrecking? Complete stupidity..."

Scott Wheeler, a rookie from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, who has only driven street stocks and other speedway, will replace Cavagnaro. He is said to be highly excited by the opportunity.
