2014 Pocono IndyCar 500
After a fantastic weekend of racing at the streets of Houston, which was won by Carlos Huertas in race 1 and Simon Pagenaud in race 2, the IndyCar train heads up north for some oval racing action to the Pocono Mountains for the second 500-mile race of the season at the Tricky Triangle called Pocono Raceway. Scott Dixon won, in which propelled him to a 3rd series title, in last year's race.
Ed Carpenter returns to the No. 20 this week.

I'll be there this weekend. Hoping for some good racing now that they have a year's worth of data to go by.

I'll be there as well. If you see someone in a Manchester City shirt, that is probably me

From reports I am reading, attendance might be VERY poor this year, and it might put this race in jeopardy

This is extremely disappointing. Pocono is one of my favorite tracks on the schedule, and it had such a good crowd last year (just as many fans if not more than the NASCAR race, if I recall). Maybe the walk-up crowd will give it a boost this year.

If this is the case, then it'll be an example of an event like this having so much potential, but then has nothing to show for it. This event deserves so much better than what it's got.

Pretty soon, the only ovals that will be on the IndyCar calendar will be Indy, Iowa, and Milwaukee.

Because people actually go to those races. And Fontana.

Yep. Plus, the dude at Iowa does a pretty good job of promoting his race, like Michael does with Milwaukee.Cynon wrote:crl wrote:Pretty soon, the only ovals that will be on the IndyCar calendar will be Indy, Iowa, and Milwaukee.

So Jack Hawksworth had a pretty big hit with the Turn 1 wall in Practice 2.
Re: 2014 Pocono IndyCar 500
Montoya on the pole.

Yep. And that was at Surfers Paradise. His last pole in open-wheel racing period was Spa nine years ago.navycook75 wrote:First American Open Wheel pole since 2000.crl wrote:Montoya on the pole.

Jack Hawksworth suffered a heart contusion as a result of the practice crash yesterday, and is out of todays race. He'll need to be medically cleared for the next race.

As in after Nascar lol
Re: 2014 Pocono IndyCar 500
Good win Montoya! Finally gets a technical Nascar oval win and cements he hasn't lost a step.
Power needs to chill out, he's blowing the championship very quickly away.

I knew JPM was going to be a threat once I saw he was on the pole. A wily and sneaky win...
... followed by more Will Power whining. Where've we heard that before?

Re: 2014 Pocono IndyCar 500
That was a really great race. Miles ahead of last year (about 100, to be precise).
Felt bad for TK but watching Montoya win was awesome. The crowd near me went nuts when either of them got to the front.
