It could be worse... one of the other applicants is Stefan GP.

Of the three named applicants, Stefan GP are by far the most competent.
It wouldn't surprise me if Prodrive eventually end up on the list too..

The only reason Haas runs a successful cup team now is because of Tony Stewart, and that without Tony's talents and name, that team would be a midpack team, AT BEST.
I'll take Stefan GP or the like before Haas

Nope.avi
Nobody can be as incompetent as Stefan GP, at least the other two proposed entries have some motorsport experience.

Good luck with that.
I'll give them a month before it goes horribly.

If they had the funding (which they quite obviously did not), the team would have been very well prepared; Toyota chassis, engine and gearbox, and had also signed Kazuki Nakajima as a driver...just a shame the money was never there as it appeared a serious attempt, and still does. The other applicants...one is Colin Kolles known for directing 2 of the worst attempts in Formula One in modern history; Jordan-Midlands/Spyker and HRT and also well known for being the guy that blackmailed Toto Wolff, and the other is a team with only stock car experience.

Funding isn't an issue for Gene Haas, he had a well-equipped but poorly-staffed NASCAR team until Tony Stewart slapped his name on it (and then the rest of the grid realized that; "Oh yeah, that's a Hendrick B Team"). He also failed to get away with tax evasion, which I think is fantastic, because F1 needs some more shady characters.
The same applies for Zoran Stefanovic. I'd love to see both Stefan and Haas get in for the same reasons -- they're both crooks, both have outrageously hairbrained ideas (running teams in Charlotte and Belgrade or wherever Stefan GP was going to be), and both of them could make Caterham and Marussia look like Ferrari and Red Bull.
I LOVE IT!

He tried to enter F1 without a spot on the grid and way past the deadline to get one, and then sued the FIA when he didn't get in. Thoee are not the actions of anyone even remotely professional. Not to mention he tried to buy the old Mastercard Lola chassis after the team folded and tried to enter mid season in 1997. There is nothing even slightly competent or serious about them.

Totally agree. Colin Kolles is far more competent and serious than Zoran Stefanovic could ever hope to be - he kept HRT alive for several seasons when it really shouldn't have lasted one. Whereas all Stefanovic has accomplished is buying Toyota's remains. Not exactly the best reference for owning/managing an F1 team, especially when he failed to do anything with them.

Stefan bought an unused Toyota and hired Nakajima and I believe Jacques Villeneuve to drive, so they had money then. The question is why didn't they buy HRT?
Re: From the "This has bad idea written all over it" files
Not really. At that point, Nakajima probably came with the Toyota package while Jacques would have driven a wheelie bin if it meant he got back to Formula One. They at least pretended to have money, but the whole "I'm taking part whether you like it or not" attitude didn't help them that much...Alpineopossum wrote:RetrogradeRenegade wrote:Jason Hamilton wrote:Milan655 wrote:If they had the funding (which they quite obviously did not), the team would have been very well prepared; Toyota chassis, engine and gearbox, and had also signed Kazuki Nakajima as a driver...just a shame the money was never there as it appeared a serious attempt, and still does. Re: From the "This has bad idea written all over it" files
So to put this into perspective, these are the three currently known figureheads and their organisations who are aiming to get into F1 in the next few years:
Colin Kolles: A Dentist that kept Midland/Spyker/Force India and HRT alive. He has his own factory that was used by HRT that has Developed and Made a 2014-Spec LMP2 and is in the process of making a LMP1-L for 2014. He is rumoured to have backing from companies backed by the Romanian government.
Gene Haas: Tax Evading owner of some of the best equipment in Concord NC in terms of CNC Machining and Wind Tunnels. Said Wind Tunnel current F1 teams have used which means he could do some espionage if he felt like it. And he does things with Tony Stewart that relate to under performing with some of the best equipment currently in NASCAR.
Zoran Stefanovic: F1's equivalent to John Spano, just without the prison terms. Look him up.
