Can't believe it, yet another Racing fatality in 2013. R.I.P Sean Edwards
Re: Porsche Supercup championship leader killed in Queensland crash
It's sad that he was in the points lead in Porsche Supercup when this happened, I hope things go the right way and he gets awarded it posthumously.
RIP Sean, a good driver taken too soon.

>Didn't know who Sean Edwards was
>Look up his Facebook page
>2 friends already liked it
>one of them was Allan Simonsen
When the news first broke down here no names were released of who were in involved and what car it was in, so I originally suspected it to be a V8 Race Experience thing, which is what I did this time last year. It wasn't until 3-4 hours after the story broke that I found out who it was.
Can't remember if it was Jason Bright or Lee Holdsworth who said it but one of them expected something like this to happened soon because track standards in Australia are shit.
R.I.P. Sean.

This year has been terrible on deaths, especially with another driver being killed a few weeks ago in a pre war Bugatti at Snetterton. He also played his father in Rush I believe.

Re: Porsche Supercup championship leader killed in Queensland crash
That's where my Mum recognised his name from. She said Sean played Guy Edwards, Sean's Dad. Guy was one of the drivers who helped rescue Nicki Lauda.Metro 6r4 wrote:This year has been terrible on deaths, especially with another driver being killed a few weeks ago in a pre war Bugatti at Snetterton. Just read about this, terrible news. It was already tragic enough to hear about Maria De Villota's passing over the weekend, now this.
And hear's one of the most eerie coincidences a guy from another forum pointed out:
This is a Lola from the 1981 24 Hours of Le Mans. What's the significance? The Drivers who drove it: Emelio De Villota and Guy Edwards.

Very sad timing of this, just hope that nobody does him a disservice by trying to find greater meaning in all of the injuries lately. RIP Sean Edwards.

Wasn't even paying attention to the number and even then, its not a big deal.
All I'm saying is that's just one of those strange coincidences that in the course of a few days really stood out to me, I'm not making any sort've conspiracy out of it.

Re: Porsche Supercup championship leader killed in Queensland crash
Another tidbit of scary coincidences. From the 81 Lemans 24 hour
The race was marred by the death of Jean-Louis Lafosse, who violently crashed his Rondeau in the early stages on the Hunaudieres while following the Lola T600 of de Villota/Edwards/Fernández. No cause has ever been determined although a piece of debris is seen flying away from the car just before the Rondeau suddenly steers to the right, along with pre-crash photographs showing evidence of damage from an off-track excursion, suggesting suspension failure as a possible cause

And so another is claimed. His skill and bravery will never be forgotten.

Also, praying that the driver makes it out okay as well. One tragedy from this crash is more than enough...

Wow, I can't imagine how nasty that wreck must have been. I could barely recognize the wreckage as the car.

Re: Porsche Supercup championship leader killed in Queensland crash
Wow. Reading the ABC News report of it (they originally broke the news at around 3pm local time yesterday, this was a few hours before anyone knew who it was got killed), and surprised to hear it was the first ever fatal car accident there. Queensland Raceway has one of the highest (if not maybe the highest) average speeds in the country, and iirc the track nearly got closed down about a decade ago due to saftey concerns.
Re: Porsche Supercup championship leader killed in Queensland crash
Quick update: Apparently Will Holzheimer, the driver of the car, is stable in an induced coma but still in serious condition with a broken right arm and several fractures in both of his legs and his face.
