He did a lot of good for the sport, but it really became obvious in recent years that a change was needed.

This. Much like Al Davis and the Raiders, he may have done a lot, but too many people today will remember him as a senile old man out of touch with reality, not a visionary that had ideas to put what he ran on another level.
