Stripes on a football helmet template

Post by SnakePlissken on Mon Sep 05, 2011 10:31 pm

Hey there. I've been messing with a couple of helmet templates and was wondering if someone wouldn't mind taking a look at seeing if they could create some better looking stripes on it for me. I tried to redesign my Skeeters logo a little here going from this:

to this:

when it finally dawned on me that mosquitos only have one set of wings! Also put some "vein" looking texture on them for good measure. I think it'd look better with the Broncos style stripe that is wide at the back and comes to a point-- like a mosquito proboscis.

The owner of the Replacements is a fan of the Redskins, so I made this for him:

Wasn't really a fan of the "R" and tried out Robin's emblem:

It is screaming out for some Redskins style stripes!

The Roid Rage could use some Titans type stripes:

The stripes on the above came from a template that's turned like this:

so they don't work really well. And it's not all NFL stripes either, the Poecats need a skunk stripe that's better than this one:

I'm trying to figure out how to make curved lines and have watched the tutorial at SRD on making flames, but it assumes knowledge and know how that I don't have at this point.
Any help?

I'm confused.

Are you doing this on a 2d image or as a texture for a 3d model?

Sorry, I'm talking about 2 separate 2d helmet templates.

Template #1:

Template #2:

I drug the stripes from template #1 onto template #2 and went from this:

To this:

And it just looks terrible to me. I can't seem to figure out how to bend lines in Paint Shop Pro-- stuff about "nodes" and whatnot.
