Sprint Cup Geico 400 at Chicagoland

Post by Spannerhead29 (Nelson) on Mon Sep 10, 2012 11:43 am

After looking at a stat sheet on racing reference, Tony Stewart seems to be god like around here (e.g. Ambrose-Watkins Glen, Ky. Busch-Spring Richmond). There's only been 11 races here, and Tony's finished in the top 5 in all but 3 races.

Opening Practice: Friday 1pm ET, 12pm CT
Happy Hour: Froday 4pm ET, 3pm CT
Qualifying: Saturday 1:40pm ET, 12:40pm CT
Race: Sunday 2pm ET, 1pm CT

Stephen Leicht has been replaced for this week in the #33 by Cole Whitt. Leicht will return to the #33 next week for New Hampshire.

the only way this race will be interesting is if I loop Guiles Theme for 3 hours (it does go with anything), or if Dale Jr or Truex wins.

I thought you said if Dale Jarrett wins for a second there. That'd indeed make the race interesting.

Chicagoland is actually one of the cookie cutters I enjoy more. And IIRC, the truck race here wasn't actually a terrible race. You guys are so pessimistic about how you think a race will be, sometimes Razz

I don't know, but I read that they're bringing him on to help out their intermediate track program in the short-term, and also because he has ties to a manufacturer-backed team (JR Motorsports). At least they're trying to become more competitive, I guess.

Read more here.

Right on both parts. However, I think almost every truck race has at least had decent racing, so it's not much of an exception anymore Razz

Judging on how well Danica Qualifies and finishes races, I feel like by the 6th race next year we may have a race without her.

its better this than a blown engine or critical failure during the race.

I can regret my doubts for Dale Jr starting at the back, because judging from happened in the 2nd race at Michigan where he started last in finished in the top 5, I'd say he's got a good chance at doing the same here.

Well it's business as usual, Johnson leads, Dale Jr is storming through the field like he's the star of a bad racing movie (forgive me Ceej), and a Coors Light rocket just appeared on RaceBuddy.

Nice win by Brad. Jimmie/Chad, qq. More bud luck for Gordon. Hamlin's team is dumb/repeating 2010.

Good win Kez. Beat Jimmie on that last run especially when it counted.

Race was a yawner sadly.
