International Grand Prix Championship 1967 (Grand Prix Legends)
Approved by Cynon
It's 1967. The inaugural International GP Championship is about to start at the most prestigious British track, Silverstone. 19 of the richest and most talented drivers line up for their teams. Cars are much simpler; an exposed engine, no wings, a car reliant on the driver not the car. Prepare for an original series.
Info on the series
This series will be ran with Papyrus' 1998 video game "Grand Prix Legends" which simulates the 1967 F1 season. 11 tracks and 3 non-championship events, mostly of the original 1967 F1 season, will be used. Colour schemes will have to be claimed, due to limitations within painting in the game. You can either choose your team's nations colour, or choose from a seperate website with available cars. During a Non-Championship event, sign ups will be reopened, and two qualifying races will be held.
Sign Up Procedure
You may sign 1 team with 1 driver. Alternatively, if you are willing to allow another to join your team, you may register for 2 cars and 1 driver, where another member may register their own driver to join your team.
I will accept the first 19 registrants.

I thought it would be confusing, it's hard with GPL but the AI in it are much better than the Open Wheel in NR2003. Unfortunately, due to a lack of a template for the game, you'll have to claim one of the cars from these websites: http://www.stex68.altervista.org/GPfun-Carset.htm
or
http://ninosgarage.speedgeezers.net/carskins/carskins.htm
Ireland would come under green

As for the paint schemes, if we've managed to create our own would it be possible to send it to you? The one I've got is for the Eagle. I have a template for it but can't remember for the life of me where I found it.

No, but the game doesn't react to kindly to ridiculous ratings. Generally either spin their wheels on start line, or don't turn in on the 1st corner.

Looking at the current entry list, I noticed you wrote De Bock as de Bock. I know it's weird, but it's got a capital D.

Although it resembles a different chassis, the paint scheme is the same as BWardboy88's choice, do you mind if you pick another?

Can the two cars be the same? If so, I'll enter Aurélien Moll in a second car. If not, then I'll stay a one-car team.Milan655 wrote:Allowing 2 car teams now.

Don't mean to be pushy, but I'm still curious about this.
Also, is the team chart in the OP up to date?

It's fine to have own cars, although could you give an explanation for adding a MIP, I know 3do etc, but not sure about MIP
Yes, it has now been updated.
Additionally, there are 6 more places available!

Thanks. And I can explain how to replace just MIP files, but I'll need to double check.
Basically, for each car there's a MIP that goes with it, and each MIP that corresponds to the 3DO car file has the first few letters of the driver's last name, the car number, and sometimes an "a" or "b" at the end. But the name of the MIP can only be 6 characters long.
Long Way
- Spoiler:
- So, for example: let's say I go into the driver.ini file and change Dan Gurney to the driver I've entered, Alex Whitt, and I change the car number to #2.
Next, I go to my GPL>cars>car67>eagle directory and copy the 3DO file "gur9a.3do" and paste it, renaming it "whi2a.3do". The 3DO file only needs the first three letters of the driver's last name along with the number and letter "a" or "b", I think.
Now, I take my custom painted MIP file and rename it "whit2a.mip". The MIP must be exactly 6 characters long or it won't work.
And that should do it. It may be necessary to use RaceCon to do some stuff (I don't know exactly what, although SMRZ usually has a thread on that topic; I may have even started one), but it should work.
SHORT WAY
Of course, the easiest thing to do if you weren't going to change the driver.ini file any would be to just change the name of the MIP file to one of the existing MIP files and backing up the original (i.e., just changing the MIP file to "gur9a.mip", which I just realized isn't 6 characters long but I don't think it'll matter).
