Australian Grand Prix
Looking at the Weather Channel right now, they look to be practicing in some rain right now, but the weather forecast is supposed to get better over the weekend.

Re: Australian Grand Prix
Kimi Räikkönen is 18th in practice, kinda excpected.
Williams sucks
Petrov and Kovy are actually fast
All the good teams were sandbagging.
And the Mercedes actually looks competitive
EDIT: NO WAY ARE HRT GOING TO MEET THE 107% time, The leaders pace was a 1:29.138, there fastest car ran a 1:42.627

Looks fine for Sunday, apparently a shower or two for both Fri and Sat, and don't ask me for the weather forecast at the track, as I live 1700km away from there according to google maps.

Re: Australian Grand Prix
You have to see that time in context. Karthikeyan didn't really have an opportunity to set a quick lap. He came out in the middle of the session to do two laps on a drying track, then only came out with just 1 minute left for a single lap. All with hard tyres. I think we'll know more about their performance tomorrow (remember, they actually never practised at all before Saturday morning last season...).f1fan12 wrote:EDIT: NO WAY ARE HRT GOING TO MEET THE 107% time, The leaders pace was a 1:29.138, there fastest car ran a 1:42.627

Like I mentioned, there was some rain, so if HRT had problems in qualifying, I'm sure they would be given a pass, if the rain, practice times, and the 107% rule is enforced like it had been in the past

Fuel got onto the track thanks to that V8 crash involving Courtney, Whincup (caused when Courtney spun Whincup), Premat, Wall, Reindler, Douglas & Ingall.

I can't call this race yet. Red Bull's are surprisingly meh, Grosjean is trolling, and Mercedes power looks fast,

Well I would but to be honest I only go on the website on few occasions. I normally go on BBC Sport to check for updates in the championship.

One of the few people watching an F1 race (from BBC Broadcast). Ben Edwards and F1 really sounds great together.

Well Petrov just made the race interesting. Kimi is doing really well, gaining 12 spots. McLaren cars are looking good, which makes me happy since they're the only F1 team not using those hideous noses.

Re: Australian Grand Prix
That freaking finish. That was really worth staying up for. You have to feel for Maldonado. The fact that Raikonnen was able to pick up multiple points, let alone at least 1, after being out of F1 for 2 seasons is something. Wow. That was rather crazy. Jenson pretty much won the race on the first lap.

Actually, Marussia and, to some extent, HRT are also not using them.RealRacer4 wrote:Well Petrov just made the race interesting. Kimi is doing really well, gaining 12 spots. McLaren cars are looking good, which makes me happy since they're the only F1 team not using those hideous noses.

Re: Australian Grand Prix
II was planning to, but was tired and went to bed a half hour in. The opening laps was crazy. I felt bad for Schumacher. He was fast all weekend and could have had a podium finish only to drop out early. I know it early still, but I think McLaren could compete with Red Bull this season.Ceej wrote:That was the first Formula 1 race I've watched in its entirety

It's the only lap you need to watch. F1 races are so predictable, you could probably rig the finish by purposely crashing on just the right lap...oh waitRealRacer4 wrote:Jenson pretty much won the race on the first lap.

If you saw the race you wouldn't say that.
Part of the strategy in modern F1 is to pull a big enough gap on second so you don't get DRS'd.

And this is how you show a lack of respect for other motorsports.

Tbh, this F1 race was more exciting than all of the NASCAR races that took place so far this year combined...and that's saying something.

Then it must of been hella good. I for one am not a fan of F1, personally don't find it interesting, doesn't mean it isn't a tough sport to race it. But, it's hard to get interested in something that is more based on how the car is engineered that what the driver or crew does. Unless you have a really great driver or a driver who can't drive a shopping cart.
Re: Australian Grand Prix
I'm not saying it can't be exciting, it's just that whoever wins the start usually has to crash or break to lose it

Nice drive by both of the Sauber boys today. Grats to Jenson, that was quite an entertaining season debut. Frank Williams is probably raging at Maldonado right now. Ferrari sucks, and HRT needs to get out altogether

This race was probably one of the most exciting races I've seen in the past 5 years.Had enough overtakes, situations and a fantastic battle for 8th at the very end.
That is what you want in a Formula One race.
