ARCA changes minimum age to compete.

ARCA has announced that for tracks of one mile length or less, the minimum age to compete will be changed from 16 to 15. The first driver to take advantage of this will be Erik Jones, who will be 16 in May. Jones is scheduled to drive #55 for Venturini Motorsports at next weekend's race at Mobile International Speedway. He will one of at least 43 to attempt to qualify. Only 35 will make the race.

Man, you can drive an ARCA stock car yet still not be eligible for a VA learner's permit (15 & 6 months for permit). Scary.

Its Venturini, they can get what ever they want. It honestly doesn't suprise me.

They've probably only done this because NASCAR Hometracks Series allow it.

Besides that, the rule change only applies to short tracks. I doubt even ARCA would let a 15-year-old kid loose at Daytona or Talladega.

I can live with it.

hmm... interesting. I sense potential mayhem and more ARCA wrecks.

I'm 15 this month and if I had the chance, I could handle the cars of ARCA today rather quite easily.

it's not the handling we're worried about, it's the amount of ARCA braking we're worried about
