Bowling anyone?
Some pretty awesome stuff from the last PBA telecast. In the final qualifying show before the PBA World Championships Jason Belmonte threw a perfect 300 game on his way to eliminating Mike Fagan, Brian Kretzer, and Josh Blanchard. That's just the 21st time a perfect game has been thrown on television in the entire history of the PBA. However, if you saw any highlights from the show, it was probably this: https://youtu.be/OWfI5hDutMg
And Belmonte's 300 if you're interested: https://youtu.be/41kzI4v-4xc

Re: Bowling anyone?
luckily Daytona is delayed, so I can watch the US Open, arguably the most difficult bowling tournament in the world. Some seriously weird things happened in the qualifying rounds this year. 14 year old Kamron Doyle finished 61st (out of 394) to become the youngest to ever cash in a PBA Tour event (he made $1300) and Missy Parkin became the highest finishing woman ever at the US Open, finishing 21st.
Jason Belmonte, Mike Fagan, Ryan Shafer, and Pete Weber are in the show. Weber is always fun as hell to watch, so this should be great

He's 4th seed, so he has alot of work to do. Fagan has been on fire this season. I think he has the high or second high average for the season so far

"Who do you think you are? I AM!" - A victorious Pete Weber yelling at the fan who screwed him up earlier in the title match vs Michael Fagan, 2012 US Open.
Weber's victory is making waves in the media . Never change, PDW!

Apparently I wasn't the only one who watched the US Open while it rained at Daytona. Carl Edwards did as well, lol

This. I haven't bowled in about five years, and my best game is a 126.

I'm a pretty avid bowler myself. I bowl on a Saturday morning league with an average of 171

171 is pretty good, another spare or two a game and you'll be pushing 190 in no time

I've bowled twice in my life...best score I've ever gotten is a 90 something. Still lots of fun, though.

I'm watching the PBA Shark Open right now. You guys have really got to see this. Chris Barnes is freaking on fire. I'll see if I can find it on youtube soon

Re: Bowling anyone?
So just got back from bowling and bowled a decent 522 series with a 195, 165 and 162. Need to get my dimension resurfaced because it faded really bad on the backend as time went on and it's been like this for the past couple months. Sand it down and should be good.

I used to bowl in a league. My team placed 4th out of 12 in our first season and 2nd out of 14 in our second. My avg was about a 180.

I've bowled a few times and I'm pretty bad. I want to say my best score is somewhere in the 80's or 90's.

I was there, haha. When I first started when I was 9, I averaged 50's. Yes, 50's. Now im just shy of 170. Practice, practice, practice. Bowling is something you've got to practice constantly for. Try looking for a youth league like I'm on. That will help you tremendously

The two seasons I bowled in league, we were always the worst team. Really pissed me off since I want to win so bad and I felt like I was the only one who wanted to move up the ladder. I may be a born leader, but my 140 average wasn't going to save my team from failure. That, and I was known more for my excessive strike celebrations more than my actual talent
Even the night I shot my 218, we ended up losing the match.

Re: Bowling anyone?
The only reason we were as good as we were was because one kid on our team, Chris, would bowl 240-260's constantly, when he was there. When he wasn't we were avg. Hence why we never got any better then second.Magus978 wrote:Blake Camphausen wrote:I used to bowl in a league. My team placed 4th out of 12 in our first season and 2nd out of 14 in our second. Re: Bowling anyone?
When I was a lot younger, probably 10-12, i had the second highest average in our division for our league, right behind my teammate Dave. And then we had the two worst bowlers in the league. Won three years in a row with that combination. Me and Dave set the high scores, and had the other two for their massive handicap. Of course by "high scores" i mean 170s, lol. That was about all I could manage on a good day back then
On a weird side note, some kid in that league from an older age group thinks he's a great pro bowler now. Goes by the name of Brian Valenta

I haven't bowled league in a while but I've been bowling ever since I could pick up a ball and roll it down the lane. I average around 165 but if I went and tried to roll a few games at this instant I'd be lucky to get that. When I finally start my new job first thing I'm doing is getting a new USBC card and joining a league. I really want to get back into it.

Sorry for bumping this thread & should've read the stick & ball a while back but I bowl 3 times a week in 3 different leagues. I average 130-145 (different average in all 3 leagues) & my highest games is a 212

Re: Bowling anyone?
I know the majority of those on the forum wont know who he is, so I'll just put this here. Earlier this morning, former PBA Tour player Tony Reyes was killed in a car accident at the age of 38.
He was by far one of the most fun guys to watch on tour. He always seemed to be having a lot of fun. My best memories of him are below.

Re: Bowling anyone?
Something I posted on mrbowling300's forums in the "What did you bowl tonight?" thread. It was from a few days ago.
This was a 3 game series at the soon to be closing Maple Lanes in Bay Ridge.
Game 1 - 119 (Could not get zoned in, failed to strike. Wasted spares with poor count. Somehow missed a 5-pin in the 9th frame.)
Game 2 - 123 (Again, no strikes. Started out much better though, 3 spares from 3 frames. Then it all went to pot.)
Game 3 - 230 (My face = O_O. After an 8 spare in the first, reeled off 5 in a row! Didn't strike again until the first ball in the 10th frame, but for the first time ever, I kept a clean game. I fumbled around in my jacket pockets to try and get my phone out to take a picture of the score, but my battery had died, thus no evidence. I told a kid who was watching me bowl that "we are in the presence of a miracle", before packing up and going home.)
The first ball from the 10th frame of my 230 game was the one-step shot, made famous by the late Tony Reyes in various PBA Skills Challenges. What did I get? A strike.

Re: Bowling anyone?
Well, I've been under the assumption over the last 20 odd years that I'm the only one I know who gives a damn about bowling, lol. I don't think too far into others' interest in the sport.
Side note, I'm going to start a PBA fantasy game thing on there soon. I might post it here as well if anyone else is interested, lol

Re: Bowling anyone?
Joe Scarborough apparently just threw a perfect 900 series during a PBA senior tour tournament. I know it's been done in league before, but this may be the first time it has happened in a pro competition before. It will be interesting to see if it gets sanctioned or thrown out after the investigation
