Re: 2012 Rolex 24
Aguas/Kaufmann/Pastrana/Waltrip = NO. Maybe Pastrana could do something, but other than that, they'll be a waste of space.
Re: 2012 Rolex 24
Current list is 52, which is the biggest since 2008, when there were 66 cars. Currently 13 DPs and 39 GTs.

Kaufmann? Hells no. After what he did at Le Mans, he doesn't need to be driving anything. In fact:

The worst Micheal will do is have off track moments (like at Le Mans). Kaufmann on the other hand is apparently under the impression that nothing applies to him (which the ACO reminded him that yes it does). Pastrana, I don't know. Good rally, decent at best in Stock cars so really he is the biggest question mark but even he will have more sense then Kaufmann.

I'm going to this race. My flight leaves tomorrow morning for Atlanta, then another plane to Daytona.

Is it bad that I've been training all week to stay up all night for this race?

Yes because Speed only shows coverage till ten or eleven, unless they changed it.

Re: 2012 Rolex 24
This seems to be the starting line-up. Starworks takes DP, while Brumos takes GT.

Re: 2012 Rolex 24
Wow, only 14 DP cars this year. I remember when it was like 20. But, to make up for it, there are like 45 GT cars. Ganassi got 3rd. I thought they would get the pole. This is going to be an exciting race, and I will most definitely watch it.
Are there DNQ's for this race?

I would assume the 2nd Rick Ware car just on the fact no one was announced for it.

Re: 2012 Rolex 24
I'm pretty much rooting for anyone in the new DPs to win, especially the Corvettes (Except the Red Dragon). As for GT, I really do not want a Porsche or Mazda to win. I've grown tired of seeing either of them.
Re: 2012 Rolex 24
No one posted qualifying results, so I guess I'm doing it.

The #5 and #01 cars both had engine troubles and couldn't change engines in time to qualify. They'll start at the rear of their classes field, all the way back in 13th and 14th. Thinking at least two of the four GT's that didn't make a lap are withdrawing. As traditional, the DP will start, and receive a half lap advantage on the much slower GT cars.

Re: 2012 Rolex 24
Are my eyes deceiving me or is Kaufmann Listed twice? I guess he can't just crash one team's car with doing to to another. I'm calling it now, Kaufmann will do one of the following:
*Take a car out in a dangerous way and get parked himself
*DNF the car he's driving.
Also, I hope Krohn doesn't finish. I despise him

Re: 2012 Rolex 24
ETA two hours until the race! Getcha popcorn ready! However, if you are watchinh Speed rihht now like me, you can see some good ol' touring car racing! I can't believe Speed is bringing it back! Remiscing my childhood again, all I would do is stay up late and watch the BTCC/DTM and keep my parents up.
Alright back on topic. Am I the only one here predicting a Gordon Smiley-esque wreck out of Brian Johnson? Hells Bells may be ringing, and not in a good way. Of course, we all know that Michael Waltrip is going to give us a seminar in how NOT to drive a Ferrari (let alone drive period). There's going to be a poor Ferrari worker kill himself as he sees the Italia he worked on driven straight into a tire barrier!

Watching the Rolex 24 race from my laptop. The only thing that could make this weekend better is if the Toyota All-Star Showdown race was running. :/

For those of you that are tired of seeing Speed channel commercials, you can watch the race from MotorTV. MUCH fewer commercials than what you get from the crappy speed channel. http://www.justin.tv/thunderbunnies#/w/2527933312

And unsurprisingly, Kauffman cuts off one of the BMWs while making contact. Point proven yet again. What an ass.

If you look at the previous posts I have under this forum, you can watch the race from there. I think by 9 PM Eastern, Speed's going to move their broadcast online.

Not to mention. 2 of the Ganassi drivers that were on the track almost wrecked themselves out of the race.

Yeah. I heard McMurray saying in the interview that he thought Rojas was going to let him off easy when Rojas was thinking differently. Also, the lapped car (Rick Ware Racing car, I might add) sort of got in the way. Then again, hard racing isn't exactly a bad thing at all, to a certain extent.

Memo driving like an ass, plain and simple. He's just topped Montoya in the "Overly aggressive" category.

5th full course yellow of the event after the 15 has damage to the left front rim of the tire and stopped right near the race track.
