Round of North Carolina Injury Report
Blackwater enters Concussion Protocol for 2nd time this season
Kelly Blackwater, driver of the #35 Golden Corral Toyota Camry for ROG Motorsports, will miss the final two races due to sustaining a concussion during the PCC Cup Round of North Carolina. This is her second concussion this season.
Blackwater was examined in the in-field care center following her accident, in which she hit the inside wall at full-throttle, then shot up the track and got hit by an oncoming Carter Fitzgerald. Blackwater was not cleared to leave until several hours after the conclusion of the event.
Entering Concussion Protocol includes a mandatory two-week recovery period. ROG Motorsports majority owner Cal Rogers reported on Wednesday that Blackwater was given the option to return for the Cleveland Grand Prix, but she refused the offer. James Beverley, ROG Motorsports' fourth driver for the Round of Mansfield, will fill in the 35 car for the remainder of the season. Beverley, a regular in the PCC Lites Series with one win so far on the season, will make his first PCC Cup Series start in his home race. He had made five prior attempts to qualify for a PCC Cup Series race since 2011, but either failed to qualify or was replaced for the main race in each attempt.
