Russian Grand Prix
For the first time in its history, Formula One will hit the streets of Sochi for the Russian Grand Prix. After a weekend which ended in a serious accident, I think it can be safe to assume we all wish for a much better weekend.

Re: Russian Grand Prix
One of the craziest weekends for F1 in recent memory and they're right back on the grind.
Let's hope for a smooth race is Russia.

Re: Russian Grand Prix
The first team to show some sense when it comes to this Grand Prix is Marussia's sister team Manor racing in GP3. They will miss the Sochi Grand Prix for "commercial reasons."

As well earlier in the season during FIA F3 several teams chose not to attend the Moscow round for similar reasons iirc.

The Daily Mail (British newspaper) said that if the team runs two cars Alexander Rossi could be a likely candidate to fill in for Bianchi. The same article (Click Here for Article) showed the garage that had been reserved for Bianchi had a car in it, so I think they are at least planning on entering two cars.

Other news heading into F1 this weekend is that Lotus have confirmed that they will switch to running Mercedes engine's for 2015.
Re: Russian Grand Prix
This will make Rossi the first American to start a Grand Prix since Scott Speed in the 2007 European Grand Prix.

Well, no Rossi; Marussia will only race Chilton this weekend. Story just now breaking.

I'd respect the decision if not for the fact that Marussia has money troubles.

Man, F1 teams must really hate the U.S. I might've watched it if there was an american.

Yet another Mercedes front row, Hamilton 1st, Rosberg 2nd, and Botta is 3rd. Local hero Daniil Kvyat qualified 5th.

I heard they were waiting until Austin to debut Rossi. Also, bear in mind they might not have the car ready for Rossi. They don't have the best of budgets, and with the crash destroying the car, it might take time to prepare a car.

Or, maybe, y'know, their regular driver almost died last week, and they wanted to show him respect...NASCARLOVER427 wrote:Man, F1 teams must really hate the U.S. I might've watched it if there was an american.

Joleyn (I think that's how you spell it) Palmer wins the GP2 Championship after winning race 1 in a good battle with Mitch Evans, while his only rival in the points, Felipe Nasr, had to take two drive thrus.

Fun fact: Mercedes is undefeated in Russia, as they won in 1913 and 1914.
