2014 Austin 1000 Endurance Driver Registrations

I am not accepting one-off teams for this race. I have neither the time nor the patience to keep track of hundreds of cars that probably won't make it.

The upcoming Calvert Ignitions Austin 1000 at Circuit of the Americas will be the latest incarnation of the annual FARC endurance race, and with it, the endurance driver rule will return.

Each entry in the Austin 1000 will be required to list an extra driver that will take the place of the primary driver mid-race. Unlike in years past, the endurance driver will be awarded championship points and be credited with the team's results alongside the primary driver, which could lead to some interesting deals.

The current entry list is here. All teams on the season chart non-exclusive to the Japanese tour are automatically in. Many endurance drivers have been named already.

You may advertise your character's services here, and team owners are free to announce who they will pick. Endurance drivers will not affect the car's ratings.

All endurance drivers must be chosen before the Albuquerque video goes up; teams that haven't made their announcements will be removed from the entry list.

Focus Autosports Secures Endurance Driver, Wood Looking Elsewhere for a Ride at CotA

Focus Autosports made their big-league racing debut in the 2012 running of the FARC endurance race, and they are currently preparing to make their second attempt at what is arguably the most anticipated race of the FARC Elite Series powered by Smash Beer season.

This time, however, it will be a very different endurance race experience. While the 2012 Mini Indy 500 was a 500-lap race on a short track, the Calvert Ignitions Austin 1000 will be over 100 miles longer, on the demanding Circuit of the Americas, and will require the use of relief drivers among all entries.

While some expected Focus Autosports' Smash Beer 500 one-off Aubrey Wood to be paired with Vincenzo Fochesato for the Austin 1000, it was NRC driver David Savoldelli who was announced as the co-driver of the #38 Lenard. Savoldelli, the former FARC LoBo Truck Tour racer, drives for Rossini Sport in the National Racing Championship. Rossini Sport has close ties to FIAM Engineering, a team that Fochesato has competed for, and a team with some sponsors who also provide financial support for Fochesato's FARC efforts. It is unknown if the deal is related to CSM, the Italian bank that provides sponsorship to both Fochesato and Savoldelli, although Fochesato has claimed that sponsors were not a factor in the decision.

Said the Elite Series rookie, "I raced with David quite a bit last year in the Truck Tour. It was a lot of fun racing with him. He's a very good competitor, so it's going to be exciting to have him at the track as a teammate for the week. If I get the opportunity to make it far enough into the race, then it's nice to know that I'll have someone like him to drive the car!"

Aubrey Wood, however, does not plan to sit out the race weekend. FAS has given her permission to fulfill the role of relief driver for another team if she can successfully find one. While not as experienced as some of the other FARC racers, she has already showed great speed on the road courses in the National Pro Cup Championship, scoring three top tens on road circuits in the new late model series. Wood hopes to provide a team in need of a relief driver with someone who can take care of the race car for their primary driver while proving her capability of retaining ground on the racetrack.

UPDATE: It has confirmed by HQS Racing that Aubrey Wood will be serving as the relief driver for Caitlin Richler in the Austin 1000.

MT Motorsports announces that Brian Morris will team up with Jon Halks for the FARC Elite Series Austin 1000.

News out of Hotshot Racing is that Michael Humpfreys has signed up to be the co-driver for the 88 car of Kelly Posadas for the Austin 1000.

The driver line-up has also been announced at Linandale Racing, as Jeremy Baker will pair up with Steve Holiday Jr. in the 36 car for the Austin 1000

Big Mac Racing has announced Makoto Yamada will be teaming up with TMMC Independent's Trophy driver Tom Moore for the endurance race in the #22. Additionally, Monica Rook will pair up with former Formula Overdrive driver Meghan Gallagher in the #25.

Although he is currently scheduled to drive his usual #27, with Jackie Thompson as his relief driver, Richard Scott may team up as the relief driver for another full-timer, provided he can drive for a decent team.

If Scott does move out of the 27, Aaron Singer and Neil Miller's 1 may not appear at Austin either. It should be noted that both have considerable financial backing, which may be useful to some of the smaller teams on the grid.

Aaron Singer Joins ASS for Austin

After initially being expected to enter in his Wesley Family Racing #1 car, with Neil Miller as his relief driver, Aaron Singer will instead join Allie's Super Sports for the Calvert Ignitions Austin 1000. He will serve as the relief driver for Stacie St. Martin. Miller is now listed on the entry list in the 90S in place of the 1 car.

Olenick to run as Stewart's Relief

In an announcement that surprised exactly no one, George Martin Motorsports confirmed that Joe Olenick will be Bobby Stewart's relief driver for the Austin 1000.

"Well, obviously it's going to be Joe. Did you really expect anyone else to be doing it?"

CTR Development drivers Zander, Bauer Available for Endurance Race

Both Jess Zander and Lucas Bauer have been given the okay by team CTR and its development division to seek rides for the Austin 1000. The team stressed that while it had no aspirations to enter FARC in the near future, it would not stop any of its drivers from attempting to make the field.

While there are rumors that Zander could bring on sponsorship if required, these have not been confirmed or denied by anyone.

Azuma Kazeyama to Relieve Jim Hayes

According to the Tom Delgado Racing twitter page, current TM Master Cup driver Azuma Kazeyama will act as the relief driver for Jim Hayes at the Austin 1000 endurance event. The only thing left to sort out for TDR is who will be reigning series champion Joseph Howard's relief driver.

Leckliter Racing has hired New Zealander Aaron Collinson and American James Ellerby as relief drivers for both Daniel and Robert Leckliter respectively.

Collinson, a Australian Touring Car driver, has experience at Bathurst and Daytona. He has 4 wins in his early career and also has a GT class win at Daytona from this year.

James Ellerby is currently racing in Northeastern Can-Am Sports Cars, where he is the overall points leader.

Zins announces test driver will team up with him for Austin 1000

Zachary Zins recently announced that New World Orphans test driver, Michael Manseth will team up with him for the Austin 1000 Endurance race. We could not reach Manseth at the time of the announcement as he was busy "trying to keep the germs off of him".

Tommy Ashby has announced that Johnny Tucker, a late-model driver who used to drive with Ashby on the local short-tracks, as his relief driver for the Austin 1000

GT Driver to team up at S-Tech

Japanese GT Driver Kyosaku Hoshimaru will be the relief driver for the 59 alongside Jessica Graham in the Austin 1000 Endurance event.

Kyosaku drives in the Japanese Sports Car Series in their GT class for Mirai Motorsports.
