Re: Ryan Newman odd man out at SHR
Since Harvick announced he'll join SHR, everyone knew Newman was out
Re: Ryan Newman odd man out at SHR
As I said elsewhere, Worst kept secret in the garage.
Still wished it was Danica that got booted and not Ryan. Harvick not only solves the sponsorship problem, but can actually drive the damn car as well.

It's pretty obvious Dillon will get the 3. Busch, however? Just maybe, but do you think the family will get into the way at all? Remember that RCR and Kyle Busch still hate each other.

Yeah, but then, Tony would have to put up with stuff like, "UR SEXIST!!!!!!!!!!!1" and "SHE NEVER GOT A CHANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1", no matter how stupid those people would look. Of course, Hendrick would probably pick her up. He's already got one driver who's pretty much just there to sell T-shirts. What harm is another?

Re: Ryan Newman odd man out at SHR
That would hardly stop Childress or RCR, but because Furniture Row and RCR share equipment, they've apparently agreed to let Kurt stay in the 78 to develop the team. As much as I dislike Kurt, he's done great things for that team and has really proven his racing ability time and time again. Back to the point, I think RCR will go to a 4 car operation with Newman in the 29 and Dillon in the 3.Liam O'Brian wrote:flyingturns89 wrote:Liam O'Brian wrote:Ten internet points on Newman getting the 29

Roush may be interested in him too.

Uh... How so? It's obvious McFlurry is out and Larson is most likely in unless they have him run another year in N'Wide for Turner. If you need evidence, look at his sponsor and scheme this week. I could see Newman either going to RCR or committing career suicide by signing with a less-funded team that needs a driver if there are no good rides left. Dillon is likely to get the #3, but I can't think of a reason why I have an issue with running it again. Harvick is running #4 and taking Budweiser with him, so I guess Bass Pro Shops could take over the 29 next season for whoever drives it.

Wait, Roush has an open seat? Stenhouse should be there for a while, Edwards is a lock and I don't see them getting rid of Biffle for some reason. Maybe they're considering a 4th car, but I see Trevor Bayne taking it unless Roush screws (or has already screwed) him over because of being in NNS for the equivalent of at least two full seasons.

JPM's in a contract year and do you actually see EGR moving Larson up after a year? NOPE.

I think Larson's down in NNS for another year or two. But there's always a possibility of Newman taking the 1 until then as a transitional driver until Larson is ready.

To be fair, Biffle, or Edwards for that matter, could wind up deciding before the end of the year they're not happy with where they are, and do what Kenseth did. Nobody knows for sure how they feel about where they are. And the fourth car thing is probably not gonna happen. Roush is already cutting back as-is. If Newman were to come to a fourth Roush car, he'd have to be bringing a pretty penny in sponsorship money. (Maybe Outback Steakhouse/Quicken Loans follows him?)

This sucks for the us Newman fans, but I'm confident he'll find at least a pretty competent team to drive for. Hopefully that will be RCR.

let's not forget that the 78 is pretty much all prefabbed at RCR all ready.. seeing kurt moving over to a 'full' roll at RCR is almost a no brainer.. busch gets the ride unless pop pop rushes austin up a year early

Re: Ryan Newman odd man out at SHR
Sucks for Newman, but I can't say that I didn't see it coming. Newman hasn't run like he once did and that's why he got the boot before Patrick. Yeah, Danica has shown the promise so far that the media wants to hype her to and that's why I believe the fans are so ticked at her. (Deny it if you want those on here that will, but you know I'm right. It's all media hype.)
Newman on the other hand has been in the cup series since 2002, but has only 3 victory since 2006 (2 with SHR) and has only made the Chase twice with SHR. I like Ryan and I think he is marketable, but he isn't running on part with SHR right now. As for where he will end up, RCR would seems like the best bet assuming they want to keep running the same amount of cars.
I won't put faith in Roush consider they don't have enough sponsorship for four cars as is. EGR would make sense only if they have the sponsorship dollars.

Doesn't help that SHR is having a off year...

Outruns "montoya" on a weekly basis? Montoya has two Top 5's, McMurray has none, both have 3 Top 10's and McMurray got a pole. However, Montoya has been far more relevant than McMurray from what I've seen so far. No sponsorship problems? So Montoya has had issues with Energizer, Target and Clorox being on his car?

2013 stats:
McMurray 17th in points 1 pole 1 top 5 5 top 10 6 career wins
Montoya 23rd in points 0 poles 2 top 5 3 top 10 2 career wins

Don't forget that McMurray was in position in several races over the past few seasons to score a good result if it wasn't for his atrocious luck.adasign97 wrote:Casey Lester wrote:Outruns "montoya" on a weekly basis? And so has Montoya. He would've won at Richmond if it weren't for Vickers screwing around. And he couldn't hold off Stewart on old tires at Dover. Oh, and he ran out of gas at Sonoma on the last lap while running second.

From what I've seen, Montoya has more raw speed while McMurray is quick on a more consistent basis. Neither of them have the finishes to show for it though.

As a McMurray fan as well, I'd kinda be happy if he got booted or left EGR. That team is pure trash now. McMurray will probably take a year in Nationwide, have a stellar season and perhaps get into Cup the year after with a good team.

McMurray in Nationwide would be sweet
inb4 signs with JR Motorsports, since he won @ Atlanta in the 88 in 2010
