RIP Jason Leffler
Jason Leffler had a bad crash in a sprint car at Bridgeport Speedway and was airlifted to the hospital. Hearing he went into cardiac before the helicopter came...
Hopefully he comes out okay.

I really hope he's gonna be all right...he's one of the first drivers I picked up on when I started watching races.

^Here's the pic for those who are too lazy to click on the link. Man, this is a lot to take in. The part of Ohio that I'm in is going to be hit by the storm that's heading our way, and we have this happening, in my home state I might add. I hope Jason Leffler can come out of this alive.
The reports that have been confirmed are:
-Jason Leffler had to be cut out of the car.
-He's being airlifted to a hospital.
-The rest of the events at the track have been cancelled.

Re: RIP Jason Leffler
Correct me if I'm wrong; I think Leffler's the third well-known NASCAR driver in recent years that's been severely injured in a sprint car crash (Benson and Hmiel). I hope he'll be okay.

False; Johnny Benson was racing a supermodified when he got into the accident that burned him. I remember a couple of years back when Kasey Kahne was racing in the WoO at Williams Grove, PA (I think) and flipped out of the race track. Thankfully, he wasn't hurt.

I remember seeing Kahne's flip on the news. Sprint cars sure see some nasty wrecks.

I'm sure people are hearing about NBCPhilly's confirming that he's dead. I'm not giving up on hope just yet. I'm waiting for an official announcement or a legitimate source that this is true.

Another tragedy in the world of motorsport. I grew up watching this guy race and was always fond of him. This hits hard.

Wow. It's amazing how fast things can happen. It's so ironic that not only that last weekend at Pocono was Leffler's first and only start of the year in any NASCAR series, it was his last NASCAR race ever. I'm honestly speechless right now.
Also, there are a few people I know that actually went to watch the races at Bridgeport tonight. I feel really sorry that they watched a fatal crash happen in front of their own eyes.

Pretty much took the words outta my mouth. I was never a huge Leffler fan, but dang, I can't believe it.

Shocked and saddened by this news. I'll always remember his mohawk haircut when he was sponsored by Great Clips. At least he went out doing what he loved, sitting behind the wheel of a racecar.

RIP Jason Leffler. He showed a lot of heart and talent behind the wheel of the Great Clips cars for all of those years there. If I'm thinking correctly, he got Toyota their first ever win in Nationwide at IRP in a race my dad and I attended. Sad, sad news. My prayers are with his family.

Yes, it was Toyota's first.
God, come home from a long day of fun with good people, and I hear this. The real world sucks.
RIP Jason.

Rather sad day, may not of been the best driver out there, but it's sad regardless of what talent you had.

Buescher got good though after a couple years.
Anyway....
Sad to hear about Jason Leffler....Guy was kind of a mainstay in Nationwide throughout the 2000's but did show that he could win races in that series and be fast every now and again. Seemed like he was going back to the sprint cars where he was awesome from what i remember and at least he seemed to be having fun from reading over his twitter.
Very sad to hear a guy that was a big part of the secondary series for this generation go. Hoping that the Humphrey Smith team can go for the full race at Michigan (since it was his last appearance in Nascar this past week)
RIP Leffler...We'll miss you.

I'm in shock to hear about Jason's death. I never liked him, but you can't deny he was a talented driver, and he shown some good speed in the Nationwide Series.
Goodbye, LEFturn. You'll be missed.

This devastated me when I heard of the accident last night. I met Jason when I was 6 or 7 at the NASCAR Preview a while back and he was really nice to me. Down to earth guy. He'll surely be missed by many. RIP LEFturn.

Re: RIP Jason Leffler
I know I'm not the only one would was surprised by this so I'm going to skip that part.
I got started watching NASCAR in '01 and it was spotty watching. The first time I can say I saw a race with Lefler was when he running the Haas 00 in the Busch Series. I saw the Nashville win. But remember most about that year was his ballsy block on Jr. in the July Daytona. That just showed the Jason was willing to lay it all on the line.
He may not have got a shot at a bigger ride. But he did great with what he had. Heaven's NASCAR league just got another good addition.

Re: RIP Jason Leffler
Not sure if any of you were already aware, but RCR are running this decal on all their cars this weekend:
I made a Transparent Vector of this for anyone who wants to include in in their Avatar or sig. If anyone knows where I kind find the "LEFTurn" Logo that always adorned Jason's cars, I want to make a Vector of that as well.
