Re: 2013 Races 5 & 6 (Montgomery Motor Speedway Season Opener)
- Spoiler:
- Disappointing day for Brinson and crew
After a poor run at Daytona, Brinson Enterprises and the #12 Rundagrip Tire and Car Care Centers team were very optimistic about their chances at Montgomery. Returning to a short track would hopefully narrow the horsepower gap of the sluggish Andrea built 4cyl and play to the BR-01's cornering capabilities. However, all was not to be as Trey Ashby was turned by Alex Carson halfway through the race and put a lap down after running midfield.
Brinson: "Disappointed would be an understatement; I'm absolutely disgusted at the way things panned out. Apparently Andrea Racing Engines came about with a redesigned intake for Montgomery and I was hoping that at least it would help with the high end power we've been lacking in the past two races. However, it was evident that it was a step backwards. We had plenty of bite but we couldn't hang coming onto the straights.
To add insult to injury, we were dumped by Alex Carson in the #2. I don't know what he was doing; I knew he was faster coming onto the throttle but he just went right through us. Really surprised because I know he's a much better driver than that
Next week is Texas, and hopefully Andrea can continue to work something out on their end. We're not going to stand a chance if we're 15 horses down on the rest of the field there especially as it favors the high end of the engine. That's where we're getting beat. We know the engine is dropping off upstream and are working to make improvements but we are still a long way off. Obviously it's not in the intake, and I'm thinking maybe we ought to try a new cylinder head design?"

- Spoiler:
- Last Lap Wreck Dooms De Pretto to 23rd
The good news - Carlo De Pretto made it to the green-white-checkered finish. The bad news - He didn't get much further than that.
A last lap wreck left Carlo De Pretto's Tornado Alley Trophy challenge in the rear as he had to settle for 23rd at the Montgomery Motor Speedway Season Opener. He had no regrets about the move that ended up causing a wreck. "Is last lap, you make move. I see hole to move up, I go for opening. Is not hard concept to understand, no?" De Pretto said of the wreck.
Afterwards, Lucy Barnton went on Twitter and criticized Carlo's driving. When asked of Barnton's post, De Pretto simply said "Why you interrupt my dinner? She always angry, she needs man", not aware that Lucy Barnton is in a relationship with Ryan Griffin.

- Borland apoligizes for wreck under caution, sites "brain fade".
When questioned about his actions after wrecking under caution following his spinout, Borland seemed rather embarrassed about his actions.
"That was a massive brainfade on my part, kinda just forgot to take my foot off the pedal. There is no bad blood between me and [Scott]. I'll take any penalties handed to me."

Leckliter duo gets top 10
The younger Leckliter nabs a 7th place finish, though his points may be reduced after an incident that took out Stacie St. Martin with a few laps remaining in regulation.
Daniel Leckliter finished 10th and got the Hard Charger award.
"I hope we can do better at Texas."

- Spoiler:
- Nelson scores second top 5 of season
Robert Nelson in his #A9 Lenard finishes fourth in race 5 of the 2013 ARLA Elite Seires Season. This moves him into 8th in the points standings.
"I knew this track will be all about outlasting the others and getting to the end, got caught in some tight places in some wrecks but never got major damage, the hood started to cave in on the radiator so my crew got rid of that. Awesome to get up to 4th, and pretty cool to finish behind my TMMC teammate Barton Sandy as well.

- Jon Halks: "I've never wanted a race to end so [expletive] badly. That was the worst [expletive] driving I've ever been around. And [expletive] Ryan Matthews putting us in the wall so early in the race is just so [expletive] stupid. We had a chance to finish in the Top 10, and that mother[expletive] ruined it. Really [expletive] stupid."

- Spoiler:
- Webster Returns to Top 10 Form at Home Track
Following running out of gas and ignition issues leading to a 30th place finish at Daytona, Webster was looking for a recovery following a top 10 at USA International Speedway. Webster got just that at the Montgomery Motor Speedway, with a 9th place finish. Webster continues to improve on his first season where he is planned to run most of the schedule.
After a poor qualifying run, Webster quickly worked his way forward and stayed out of trouble most of the race. Webster did; however, find the wall twice. The first wall shot was of his own doing, slamming the brakes too hard while slowing for the caution, and again following contact with another driver while under caution. The damage was not severe enough to require Webster to come to pit road, and Webster kept the critical track position for the two Green-White-Checkered finishes.
"We just wanted to stay out of trouble and move toward the front." Webster said after the race. "After we got to the front, we just had to keep the track position and stay up front. We had some mishaps along the way after we got in the wall a couple of times, but my guys did a great job building a sturdy car that could withstand a couple of wall shots." When asked about the Green-White-Checkered finishes, Webster had this to say: "The first chance, we didn't have a great lane choice. The last place you wanted to be on a restart here or really anywhere is the outside, and that's where we had to restart for the first finish. We got extremely lucky by getting an inside-line start for the second finish, and we were able to take advantage of it."
Webster's career-best 9th place finish comes at his home track at the Montgomery Motor Speedway. Webster is a Tallassee native, a small town roughly 35 minutes northeast of Montgomery.
"Still so happy to be running Jared Warth's car and getting top 10 finishes out there. I'm just still trying to get my name out to other teams. Warth has gave me an excellent starting point with this number 23 team, and we will continue to race with him as long as I can, but I will certainly explore my options for other teams for future seasons. Regardless of what happens, I will be forever thankful to be with Jared Warth's team."

Re: 2013 Races 5 & 6 (Montgomery Motor Speedway Season Opener)
- Spoiler:
- Makoto Yamada Scores Huge 2nd Place Finish
In a day of almost all smiles from the Big Mac Racing team, Makoto Yamada nabbed his best career finish of 2nd place at Montgomery. Yamada started the weekend by grabbing the pole position in a car mainly set up for short lap runs. Yamada said, "The team thought the race may have been a caution fest like it was, so that was a good decision to set up the car that way." One the first overtime attempt, Makoto Yamada slid up from 4th into 2nd place. There, he tried to make a diving pass for the lead, but he was turned by Nick Howard into the inside wall. Yamada right after that drove back up into the track and put Nick Howard into the wall. On asking him if it was revenge, Makoto said, "While I was not and still am not happy at Nick, that was a maneuver I used in order to stay in contention for a good finish. In these last lap moments and not being at the track every week I have to make win or lose moves to finish up top. I don't regret doing it." Yamada controversially was allowed his 3rd place spot back, and Yamada briefly held the lead with one to go. However, he was passed on the backstretch and fell to 2nd. Yamada continued his interview by saying, "This is what the team needed. They work hard week in and out. They deserve a nice podium and not a wall wrecked race car"

Walker issues ultimatum to drivers
After a staggering 285 championship points worth of penalties have been levied against drivers this season for collisions under yellow flags, ARLA CEO and Elite Series race director Jen Walker threatened teams with exponentially stiffer penalties if the trend continues at the upcoming Henry Walker Memorial.
Walker warned in an e-mail sent to all drivers and teams as well as several journalists that "Anyone who causes an accident under caution at [Texas] will face, at a minimum, a three-week suspension. The sloppy driving I have seen in the beginning of this season is unacceptable and makes our sport look like a joke. Do not test us in Race Control."

Rip Tyler "Killed Dead" at Mayhem of Montgomery
Montgomery Motor Speedway
Rip Tyler started the night off with such promise. Tyler snagged the pole and showed how dominant his #16 Leapin' Lizard Lycoia was going to be on the evening. Then it all came to a sudden, tragic end for Tyler. Having to pit for an unknown issue, Tyler fell a lap down and into the clutches of what can only be described as the Mayhem of Montgomery Motor Speedway Season Opener.
Shortly the restart following the 6th caution, Tyler was behind the punching bag of the night-- the nightmare #78 car of Andrea Kinasa. Kinasa, with the hood removed because of continuous contact, was as slow as molasses after hitting just about everything in sight on the night.
Tyler, who obviously was the class of the field tonight, was still was a threat to win if he could've gotten back on the lead lap. On lap 48, Kinasa was slow and the #39 of Nami Mura was impatient and that was a lethal combination for Tyler. Mura got into Tyler and sent him into the wall. Tyler then flipped over for almost 2 complete revolutions before being hit again and spinning on his wheels twice before coming to a rest.
This effectively killed Tyler and his chances of repeating as the 2013 ARLA champion. Tyler's season could be dead after only 3 rounds have been completed.
"The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated" said an exasperated Tyler after climbing from his crumpled machine. "How anyone can doubt us after what we did last year is beyond me."
Tyler, usually not known as a vocal critic of his fellow drivers, veered sharply from the norm when savagely ripped his fellow competitors, "Was this the first time this group had ever been behind the wheel? It was a travesty, a disgrace, and an embarrassment out there tonight. Most of them should hang their head in shame. I was an abysmal display and those guys (and girls) should be ashamed. We couldn't go more than 4 or 5 laps without some mayhem happening. I hope ARLA officials do something about this. It was ridiculous."
But the fact remains that Tyler's repeat championship bid may have been "killed dead" on the Montgomery Motor Speedway Season Opener asphalt.

Clason comes home with quiet Top 10 at Montgomery
"Well, A lot of people were driving like dickbags tonight. Pretty standard short track stuff. Oh well, we came home 7th, so it's not my problem. Now we go to Mexico, but since the "Flaming Taco" incident, I won't be crossing the border. But we've got a driver lined up for that race." Tanner Clason commented, after a very quiet run in the Montgomery Motor Speedway Season Opener.

From The ARLA Carta (READ NOW) thread:
Ceej wrote:This is the code of conduct for people involved in ARLA, as well as the basic rules and notes for the ARLA universe that all teams, sponsors, and drivers abide by.
Code of Conduct
-Never make other people's characters say and do things without their permission. However, if somebody else drives for your team, you may fire them at will. You may also write rumors of fights between your character and someone else's, and leave it up to the other person to confirm or deny it.
And although I'm not exactly sure where it is now, at one point Ceej had posted about his disdain for bad grammar and lazy punctuation.
