Nascar already said it would be run after the cup race. remember 2010?

I'm not exactly sure what's so funny about that.

Re: Aarons 312 @ Talladega
Intersting thing about the development driver craze is how it was viewed at the time.
Sporting News had in its 2005 NASCAR Preview a Busch Series article called "In Search for the next big thing".
The Busch Series drivers detailed were as follows
- Clint Bowyer (#2 AcDelco Chevrolet - Richard Childress Racing)
- Shane Hmeil (#32 TrimSpa Dodge - Braun Racing [Now Turner])
- Martin Truex (#8 Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet - Chance 2 Motorsports)
- Denny Hamlin (#20 Rockwell Chevrolet - Joe Gibbs Racing)
- Reed Sorenson (#41 Discount Tire Dodge - Chip Ganassi Racing)
- Jon Wood (#47 Clorox Ford - ST Motorsports)
- J.J. Yeley (#18 Vigoro Chevrolet - Joe Gibbs Racing)
"Others to Watch" we're
- Justin Labonte (#44 Coast Guard Chevrolet - Haas CNC Racing)
- Johnny Sauter (#1 Yellow Chevrolet - Phoenix Racing)
- David Stremme (#14 US Navy Chevrolet - Fitz Bradshaw Racing)
Intersting to consider where they are now.
Then there are the team that are still around.
- Atkins / Braun Racing is still around in the form of Turner Motorsports. In 2005 their drivers were Kasey Kahne, Brent Sherman, and Shane Hmeil.
- Jay Robinson Racing is still racing via the Nemechek connection. Derrike Cope and Steve Grissom were their drivers.
- Joe Gibbs Racing is obviously still in the series. As mentioned above they had Hamlin and Yeley as drivers.
- NEMCO was racing then as a two car team with Nemechek and Jeff Fuller.
- Phoenix is still around
- RCR had Bowyer and Harvick in 2006 and still operate a NNS team.
- Roush had only the #60 as a full time car, then driven by Carl Edwards.
- Rusty Wallace Racing is (barely) still in existance. Then, Jamie McMurry was the driver.

I heard the official sunset is 7:59 CT, and the 2005 race finished in the darkness, so as long as there aren't huge wrecks like 2005 we should be able to get the whole thing in.

Tbh if I were a NASCAR Official, I'd advise to just run the race after the Cup race to squeeze more time in.

This would be a lot better if they put up lights on the track. It's long overdue.

That's probably the weirdest wreck I've seen in a while. Sorenson nearly blows over, and a hard hit for Pastrana.

It looks like Johanna Long learned the hard way of what happens when you block someone that's going 5-10 mph faster than you.

Re: Aarons 312 @ Talladega
At least Alex Bowman crossed the finish line.
Wow. I wasn't expecting Regan Smith getting the win. I normally would complain about NASCAR throwing the yellow before they get to the finish line, but since this is redemption for Regan Smith, I'm okay with this.
I'll admit it though, that was one hell of a pass he made for the lead.

Smith deserved to win after that sick cross-over move he pulled in the tri-oval. Easy early contender for Pass of the Year.

Awesome Finish. Great race. Bit tame in middle but that's to be expected.
REGAN SMITH with a sick move to steal the win. DAT PASS....AMAZING. Hornish vs Smith for sure and i'm completely pumped for it.
Understood why Nascar threw the yellow before the line despite it causing confusion, Car were jetting from bottom to top with the potential of a t-bone since some people were going balls deep through the wreck...Also Cassill MURDERED that wall and with all the front end incidents that have lead to injuries this season i can understand the fear of wanting to make sure he's okay.
Tally weekend not disappointing at all so far.

Anyone see a light amount of irony in a NASCAR judgement call giving Regan Smith the win.

I thought the Daytona 500 2007 finish was something from a video game, that was nothing compared to that finish

I don't want to say that the finish was "ruined", but it's just a shame that the 3-wide-within-about-a-foot-of-each-other finish won't count. I wouldn't have minded Kahne winning. Either way, the race to the finish was awesomeness! Regan easily made the most amazing pass so far this year! Credit to Kurt Busch too for not going an inch lower than he did and wrecking himself and Smith.

I don't even know how Regan Smith made that move work, it blew my mind! I think NASCAR's decision to give the win to Smith based on the caution was just. Good win Smith!

You know, thats something that kinda concerns me. With underfunded teams wrecking out about 3 times, they tend to lose money if I believe they have to pay for the damage to the car. Like ML Motorsports which is the team Johanna Long drives for, they got quite a lot of damage in that crash which could result in more money lost, cos' they had already wrecked out of Daytona and Phoenix this year.

Re: Aarons 312 @ Talladega
Ever since Petty put a car in Nationwide he's had 4 DNF's out of 5 Superspeedway races. That car just has bad luck, and Brian Scott wonders why he gets kicked in the dick. Good call on NASCAR to take 10 laps away rather than just ending the race because it's past halfway. I wonder if NASCAR threw the caution thinking Joey was in front lol.
