All things considered, I'll stick with spending my money at AHL and ECHL games. I might still watch Flyers games if on TV, but I won't spend a dime on the NHL until there is better leadership on both sides

Since there will likely be only 25-40 games, maybe my leafs can at least make the playoffs seeing as they've only played half of a full season for the past few years.

I'm a Lightning fan too, but at least the Sabres made it to the playoffs within the past 2 years.Mother of Invention wrote:navycook75 wrote:BurningThunder wrote:Go Blue Jackets, lets not be the worst team in the league for once!

And most Ohioans probably won't claim the Jackets post-Nash...

Detroit Red Wings
Anyway just would like to update some quick facts about the season as most teams near the 20 game mark out of the scheduled 48.
- Patrick Marleau tied a 96-year old NHL record by opening the season with 4 multi-goal games, becoming the first and only player to accomplish this since Cy Denneny of the 1917-1918 season.
- Erik Karlsson, defending Norris Trophy winner as the best defenseman in the league last season, suffered an 80% tear in his achilles tendon during a game vs. the Pittsburgh Penguins. His season is effectively over.
- The Chicago Blackhawks have gone 18 games now without losing a single game in regulation. Their current record stands at 15-0-3. This beats the Anaheim Ducks' 06-07 season record of 15 straight games without losing.
- Lindy Ruff, serving his 16th season as the head coach for the Buffalo Sabres, was unexpectedly fired from his position recently. He was, at the time, the longest tenured head coach in the NHL, achieving a 55% win rate in 15 seasons.

Re: Hockey is Back!
In a months time since the last post:
- The Blackhawks' streak came to a halt at 24 against the Colorado Avalance (my favourite team), those Avalanche are now the worst team in the Western Conference.
- The Penguins find themselves in quite the good way, acquiring Brendan Morrow, Douglas Murray and Mr. Calgary - Jarome Iginla whilst working on a 15 game winning streak at this point.
- The movement talks of Phoenix have reared their ugly head, again, with Quebec city being a player in the talks.
Overall, it's been a fun month for hockey, with the trade deadline less than a week away as well.
