...then F1 will lose all remaining credibility it has, as it will have clearly demonstrated that the FIA is in Ferrari's back pocket.

Whiting's already come out and said that nothing can be done. I don't think that Vettel would be stupid enough to do such a thing, anyway.

Re: New F1 Champ?
well here's the video in this link to determine Vettel's overtake on Jean-Eric Vergne:

clearly though, if he passed the Toro Rosso between the waved green flag and the green light, then it's a legal after all.

Re: New F1 Champ?
The lights in the area he passed in were yellow, HOWEVER, the rules state that the over ruling factor is the flags, therefore if the flag was green then the zone he passed in was green.

Re: New F1 Champ?
If Ferrari win this appeal and Alonso is given the title then I seriously think the Sport needs to have a serious re-think about their decisions. A title is a title, personally I think Vettel made a legal pass, but I think it's just Ferrari thinking the opposite of that.

When you have the option to win the championship, you will take it even if you know it is the wrong decision. That's why I don't understand all the comments above complaining about Ferrari, and the FIA backing Ferrari..grow up.

When you say 'Grow Up', are you saying that to other people who have posted in this thread about this?
And also, even Bernie Eccelstone thinks this Controversy is just a joke too, I mean Vettel just made a simple passing move. There was nothing to it. Those guys at Ferrari are just being so dumb, they think Red Bull may not get away with it when there was nothing to that pass at all. I'd say Ferrari should call it a day and get over the fact that Vettel has won 3 in a row, a championship is a championship and that's fair.

Re: New F1 Champ?
There was a possibility, so Ferrari took it. When you have the opportunity to win the championship, albeit in a not so fulfilling method, you take it. What would the logic be otherwise?

I guess the FIA needs to be stroked by Ferrari in order to give what Ferrari wants... here we go

The FIA have officially responded to Ferrari, saying no infraction took place, and Ferrari have said that the matter is closed.

Re: New F1 Champ?
Let's be fair guys; Red Bull would've done EXACTLY the same if Alonso was in Vettel's position. At least this way we don't have to listen to Christian Horner whining.

Does anyone need reminding that McLaren did the exact same thing in 2007, only with supposedly illegal fuel?
