That's just plain dumb, considering Brad had the cell in the car at Daytona and NASCAR didn't do anything about it.
And yes, Gordon should've been parked. Oh well...25 points isn't a small penalty, so at least it's better than nothing.

What's even more bullshit then Gordon getting of scot-free is Keselowski getting the same penalty for being on his phone as someone who was involved in a impromptu gang fight

NASCAR driver with a phone in his car is kinda setting a bad example, so I think a fine is in order, maybe 10,000 would have worked better, but I am not gonna disagree with a fine.

I think Brad's phone fine was just because of his actions in the media center and not the phone itself.
also, if they gave Brad a Points penalty, a shitstorm would ensue.

I don't think a guy who's on the verge of winning stock car racing's biggest prize needs to be told to concentrate, nor is he an "imbecile". And "twatter"? C'mon.

Do you think NASCAR gave Brad a warning about the cell phone after the Daytona 500, and that's why they're now penalizing him?
Re: Phoenix Penalties
Brad Tweeted during the rain delay at Richmond in September; heard nothing about any punishment.

I was going to say the same thing. I'm guessing he got a warning for it. That's the only explanation to why he got busted for that

Not true. He took a picture in the car & tweeted it. Where was Carl Edwards' fine when he took a damn video in the car while testing?
Re: Phoenix Penalties
this isn't the first time Clint has wrecked Gordon this year. But, Gordon is better than this. There's a time and place to get payback. And, if you're going to wreck someone, male it less obvious than a Kyle or Carl incident.
BK shouldnt get a penalty.

Re: Phoenix Penalties
Brad Keselowski wasn't fined for using the cell phone in the car, he was fined for his comments in the media center and NASCAR needed to cover it with a 'rule' they had made up on the spot about cell phones.
It is possible for a cell phone to activate a traction control device, but Paul Wolfe and BK aren't cheaters. NASCAR wanted to fine him for the media center outburst, not the phone.

This was my immediate reaction too Eichholtz. They needed a reason to fine him for the media center comments and they came up with this.

Didn't see Clint wreck Gordon. Saw him drift up the track and then I saw Gordon retaliate and try to wreck Bowyer and fail and then try again.

What about Section 12-1 of the NASCAR Rulebook, "Actions detremental to Stock Car Racing." It seems like NASCAR throws every penalty in there.

I'm surprised Jeff Gordon didn't get suspended, but we're talking about NASCAR. I just hope Jeff and Clint will stay away from each other and not run into any problems like last Sunday. As for Brad's fine, I think it's dumb, whether it was for the cell phone or the rant in the media center. At this point, it is what it is. It's time to move on to the season finale.

They didn't do anything to Bowyer, A payback at Homestead is very much possible...Unless Bowyer wants to go for the bigger man role and just beat him on the track.RealRacer4 wrote:I'm surprised Jeff Gordon didn't get suspended, but we're talking about NASCAR. Re: Phoenix Penalties
It's pretty clear what Nascar showed up to the meeting that decided these penalties. Leaving Jeff out there at Homestead opens up the door to more shenanigans, and could potentially interfere with the championship battle. This would make a great show.
Parking Gordon for the race would put any conflict to rest for the next several months until the media digs it up again in February. This would make Nascar look more interested in the safety of their drivers and fans, and the integrity of the championship battle taking place. This would earn Nascar some major respect.
Sadly, they have not gone that route

Martinsville. Again, I'm a JG fan, so... But this shouldn't have happened. They should've have called the caution earlier. NASCAR not throwing a caution there (for once) was just as, or more dangerous than Jeff trying to retaliate.

I was talking about Sunday, not Martinsville. Gordon's retaliation was completely BS and dangerous.

He's pretty imbecilic to get a $25,000 fine. I think it's stupid to bring a phone to the car. Tweet outside the car, but keeping the phone in the car...? I would call it "unprofessional". Brad's a good driver, good personality, but a phone in the cockpit shows a lack of interest almost...

You're right. He's going to get his phone out while racing at Daytona in the middle of the pack and cause a crash while tweeting. I joke, but I do see your point. I honestly think he only has it for red flag incidents, just like this weekend.

imo that martinsville wreck was an accident.. guys on old tires and guys on new ones created a mess & Newman decided to ram the 15.... which created that whole mess
Maybe wrong but it looked like it imo
Re: Phoenix Penalties
Brad has his phone in his car so when he gets in an accident he can ring his mum straight away, he's done that since Califnornia in 2008 after his massive wreck, and he couldn't get a hold of his mum for quite a long time after the wreck.

I don't exactly know why he would do that though, keeping his phone in his race car pretty much all the time.

The answer is right there... It's if he gets in a really bad wreck, such as his Road Atlanta testing crash last year where he had to be transported to hospital so he can contact family.

I know but just imagine if he ever left his phone in his race car after a race, someone would probably steal it or people would hear that he left it in and make him feel very embarrassed.

It didn't at Daytona nor did it at Richmond so why would it now? He obviously wasn't warned about it either because if he was, he wouldn't use it.
